We built our beautiful custom home

While we had some initial issues this company has made significant efforts to correct the concerns… their customer service is excellent and I am very pleased with their resolution. I am looking forward to my exterior lighting features as these will be the pinnacle of our custom home… thank you for making this right mod-lighting.

Good Customer Service and Unique Fixtures

I placed a significant order through Mod Lighting, they had modern light fixtures that were different than what I could find anywhere else. I reached out to them with some questions and they were helpful and made sure everything was good. We still have 3 Haylen lights to install on the exterior of our new build. Will update this post with pictures

Cheap products and costly return practices.

Their products look much better on their website than they do when they finally show up at your door. If you wonder why their products are so inexpensive it's because they are cheaply made. While they offer at 60 day return policy, they do not want you to return their product. I asked for a return on two lights i had purchased that were not what I expected and didn't work out, they gave me an address in China to return them to at my own expense. I pressed them and got an address in Canada. They do not accept returns within the United States, so you're stuck paying out of pocket to ship returns Internationally. Beware of this company.

Update with more info since they replied below. Order number was 62956. The first return address I was offered was (note that fedex said the zip code was invalid but later USPS was able to handle it):

Since it was international and neither the country of sale or country of origin, I pressed and they then offered this address.

At no point did they offer their New York address as a return address. I assume the New York address is a mailbox they use to appear as a legitimate US company, but do not actually operate out of.

Please note they also charge a 10% restocking fee on returns after you have paid international shipping rates to send them back. When I saw the quality of the first two items and the hassle to return them, I attempted to cancel the third light I had bought, since it didn’t show as shipped yet, but I was told it couldn’t be cancelled. I don’t use that light either in my house as I found a much nicer product for the room at a local retailer for half the price.
Beware.

Update July 2023: A representative of Mod Lighting reached out to me in June after I posted this review. They offered to refund the second light I purchased. They followed through with the refund, so now I'm only out the international shipping charges I paid to return two of the lights to Toronto. While I'm happy to receive the refund for the light I kept and never returned (it wasn't worth the hassle), I'll note that it took posting this review to get real service from the company. I still think this is a foreign company attempting to appear as a US brand. I think it's also worth mentioning that following the refund, they would call 3-4 times in a row on a weekly basis to make sure I was going to update this review, it was a bit much considering I had family in town and then got sick. Updating review from 1 star to 2 stars.

I ordered what I thought was very…

I ordered 2 lights for outside entry one did come defected. Mod lighting sent me a replacement although i had incurred extra costs for the assembly they worked with me to make me happy
I would refer this site i really liked that they cared enough to make things right

Unique choices and followup was good

Unique choices and followup was good. I only wish that dimmable led bulbs were an option offered for the Kendall chandelier I had installed. Instead, ending up purchasing correct bulbs elsewhere, which was a time consuming hassle.

The light colors are impossible to…

The light colors are impossible to sync. I bought 14. Can only get about 12 of them to same color at same time. The remote affects more than 1 at a time, but never all of them. Try to shield and isolate, but still doesn't work. Mod lighting needs a better system!

The fixture still does not work after…

The fixture still does not work after sending me the new electrical box. I am extremely disappointed. I now have a light fixture that I cannot use and it is sitting on a shelf in my garage. I am out of the country right now and will return on Monday May 30.

I am enjoying my Chloe ceiling light…

Great Looks but Beware if it Fails

The products look good but quality and durability especially if an out door light is questionable. Then if your light transformer fails even under warranty they will send you the parts to fix it yourself - yep. That’s right. Disassemble, solder, and repair yourself. And for your trouble - Even after paying for your 5 year warranty, they will give you $6 back from your purchase. Too bad for such a nice looking product.

Products are very poor quality for the…

Products are very poor quality for the price point and compared to their marketing images. Almost impossible to build, yes they are flat pack lights. No instructions and all in Chinese. Communication is very slow and returning the products is challenging. I aim UK based and having to pay for postage to return our order. Not confident i will get my refund.

Update.

6 weeks later I have not received my refund. 1 item got lost by FedEx but are avoiding refunding the 4 items the have received for a month now.
Cost £600 to return junk back to them. Please avoid these cons

We send our products flatpack to save space and most of our lights are too big to be shipped assembled, I hope you understand.
