Rami was my mortgage broker and the…
Rami was my mortgage broker and the overall experience was genuinely the best customer service we've received in our entire life. As a first time buyer we had no idea what we were doing, Rami would answer even the most unrelated questions and always went the extra mile trying to help us understand things. 10/10 highly recommend due to Rami.
Dealt with Saqib at the Great Barr…
Dealt with Saqib at the Great Barr branch, his the GOAT.
His always busy and always had customers in and out for appointments, he could do with a second hand man to support him, as he is that good!
I had a family member refer a different mortgage broker, even though I had nearly half the house cost as deposit, this other broker was like nah it won't work as your LTD etc blah blah blah.
Explained everything to Saqib, had all ,my figures, SA302's, payslips, statements etc, I had to chase a few times as my circumstances was bespoke, as I took a massive risk and it paid off in the end...
However without Saqib, could not have got our goal house! literally high street lenders are cold and don't give 2... but Saqib is down to earth and made it happen, which I am genuinely grateful for and can't thank him enough.
As mentioned Saqib is the GOAT.
Tom has been so helpful

The Mortgage Advice Bureau were absolutely amazing!
The Mortgage Advice Bureau were absolutely fantastic in assisting us get a mortgage for our first home! Nothing was ever an issue with Carly, no question too daft or task too hard. Being first time buyers we were completely in the dark at the start of the process and had no idea what to do or where to start but Carly made the whole experience exciting and enjoyable. Thanks to Carly’s help we had picked the home we wanted to buy, had a mortgage put together, submitted and then offered and as I write this we collect our keys in 3 days. This whole process has been 6 weeks to the day and this wouldn’t have been achievable without Carly and the Mortgage Advice Bureau😀

first time buyers
Being first time buyers and unfortunately being a victim to conditional selling. Finding Daniel through Mortgage Advise Bureau was honestly a god send. We were so close to just giving up. We explained the situation, where Daniel fully resonated with us. Most importantly he gave the reassurance that we would be in safe hands. The time he dedicated to us and advice given, made the whole experience smoother.
The communication both Daniel and Nicola provided was 10/10. We will forever be grateful for making our first home possible for us. Thank you both so much!
First time buying a house super easy
It's 2025 and still possible to buy a house.
Timothy Jones made it easy. Explained everything in a way that's easy to understand and used a video call to show me what he was doing to find me the best mortgage and other related things for everything short of conveyancing. Claire Porter and Jake Dugan were also excellent with regards to the extra responsibilities required by the mortgage.
Ioni was absolutely fantastic
Ioni was absolutely fantastic. As a FTB I was apprehensive about the whole process, but she talked me through every step of the way and was extremely responsive and supportive all the way.
MAB are much more focused in twisting your complaint and covering their needs before helping
My experience with the Mortgage Advice Bureau (MAB) started with a complaint at Mortgage Scout. They offered poor advice by missing out on the crucial ability to lock in a mortgage rate and therefore avoid rates going up while we investigated something else. After doing little to nothing to fix the issue with Barclays, the complaint got escalated to MAB.
The first complaint was completely miscategorised by MAB. Rather than read what we wrote and discuss our complaint about the poor advice we received, they somehow translated that to: “We understand that you’re unhappy the mortgage rates went up” and went on to say that they can’t control that (obviously). This was unbelievable, as we made it clear in several emails that we were complaining about the advice received.
That response took a long time, and they were already well over their two-month SLA. We responded back stating they hadn’t read our complaint. With the second response, they essentially stated that the calls weren’t recorded and so they can’t be sure what happened — but again, they missed a key email where the advisor at Mortgage Scout admitted what happened.
From here, there was no more support. They refused to respond any more, provide any more support to attempt to resolve the matter with Barclays, and didn’t want to acknowledge the email. Even if the matter had been resolved, it was awful to complain with a supporting group who were slow beyond their SLA periods and then didn’t read the complaints given to them.
From here on out, I will be asking any mortgage brokers if they’re affiliated with MAB, and if they are, I won’t work with them.
Responsive, Knowledgeable, and Supportive
Nicola Dugan made buying our first home easy and stress-free. Her clear guidance and quick replies kept us informed every step of the way, and she went out of her way during the process to check rates any time we asked to ensure we got the best deal. Highly recommend her to any first-time buyers!

Our mortgage advisor was James. He has been very helpful with everything to get our first mortgage in place. Can’t fault him one bit. Any questions we’ve raised he has answered. Always contactable.

Sam was excellent with going through the remortgage process and I got a really good deal saving me a lot of money. Would highly recommend the Mortgage Advice Bureau.
Highly recommend
Clare made it extremely clear and simple for us when setting up the mortgage on our new house. She waited until new rates had been released and changed our lender when a better one became available to us.

Cannot rate Kim Murphy and her team highly enough. Made the whole application process so easy and explained things thoroughly. I was recommended MAB by a family member and will certainly recommend them to others
Struggling to Believe How Horrible It Was!
One star, as zero isn't possible.
Dealing with MAB has been a FREAKISHLY awful experience for us. We approached them more than two months ago, as we had issues with our credit score, and they said they could 'absolutely' help us. We were looking for a miniscule mortgage of just £40,000 against a deposit of almost double that - so looking to borrow roughly a third of what the house is worth, with very clear evidence of long-standing, high-earning professional employment to more than comfortably repay it. The initial application 'failed' with Nationwide after an agreement in principle, and nobody at MAB bothered to tell us until after we'd asked for an (overdue) update. This happened at around the same time as the broker working for us 'went on sudden bereavement leave.' We were put in the hands of an administrator until another agent picked up our case, roughly a week later, and applied to a different lender. Eight straight weeks of waiting later, we were still no further ahead in the process, after answering a ridiculous number of questions (many of them more than once) on a weird kind of 'drip-feed' process. Some of those questions were quite personally intrusive, like why we wanted to live in the area we have chosen (???) and asking us repeatedly to provide the evidence that we still had the deposit (!?).
Our 'new' broker talked a pretty good game to start with but he increasingly showed himself as inept as time went by. A full month ago, he asked us for £410 for a valuation fee 'on behalf of the lender.' We paid that, and the valuation was scheduled but then postponed, then cancelled altogether with no satisfactory explanation. He just said that the lender gave valuation jobs to 'pretty-much anyone' and they'd only end up being done if someone was available to go and do one. Apparently, in a big city where houses are being bought and sold day-in, day-out, nobody was available to go and earn their quite substantial fee! We felt scammed, because there was no way of knowing whether this 'broker' had even paid the money to the lender. In one conversation he said he was still holding it, but didn't say why. When we challenged the amount of time it was taking to get the answer on the valuation itself, let alone the mortgage (!), he became quite defensive and kept coming up with more questions that the lender apparently wanted answers for, and why they were 'justified.' We were eventually forced to wonder if MAB are even a legitimate company, because it felt like we were simply being toyed with.
After two full months of endless stalling, ever-more 'questions' being asked, and still no answer as to whether we could even get a mortgage at ALL, through that or any other 'lender' MAB says it has on its books, the warning bells started ringing way too loud.
The proposed date of completion has long-since been and gone, and the house sellers are now distraught because this has messed their lives up too. We're all human beings - MAB don't get that.
Reading some of the awful reviews left by other people MAB has messed about and let down only confirmed our suspicions about their integrity. With supporting evidence, we approached our bank regarding the payment we made for a valuation that never happened, that we now suspect was never going to, and they have recalled that for us. That at least means we don't have to keep questioning whether this business has worked fraudulently while amassing a LOT of personal information about us. We are very concerned now, about the prospect of identity theft because that is how it feels. We may or may not do any further digging into how spectacularly this all went pear-shaped for us, and who was responsible, but SOMEONE was, and there appears to be no accountability for how they treat people.
We literally cannot face continuing to deal with them because they don't know how to respect decent, honest people. We may still be able to get the property we were supposed to complete on at the end of last month, but we'll have to see, now.
The lack of professionalism and the endless delays, and months with no answers, has been the toughest thing we've had to deal with in all our lives. MAB knew that, but at no time did they reassure us that matters were in hand. We therefore believe them to be untrustworthy.
Our advice to anyone would be to avoid MAB like the worst of plagues. Don't touch them with a bargepole. Find a brokerage that DOES have your best interests at heart and is capable of demonstrating that. Don't spend your money here unless you are fully prepared to lose it, along with your privacy and your sanity. If you pay them anything, make sure it's by debit or credit card so you have some protection for a recall, if you're let down.
Dealing with MAB has been an absolute nightmare experience for us. We would hate to see others in the same situation.
Great Advice and Service!
My advisor was Abigail Pay and her service was excellent. We were remortgaging, though had a rather specific set of requirements and needed some expertise in choosing the right product to match our situation. Abigail was a font of knowledge and opened our eyes up to products we hadn't necessarily thought of. I would definitely recommend and would use again without fail!
