Scam do not use motest Reading!

Had an mot fail so got the work done and phoned to book retest. They told me they couldn’t fit it in for over a week they were fully booked. I phoned to book retest 6 days after the failure meaning you don’t pay for a retest. The date they told me was their earliest took it over the 10 days. When I got there they tried charging me again for a retest. The man just said it’s over 10 days now. I said I have had it say about because you said you were fully booked he replied that’s not my problem we have been busy. This must be a new scam motest have thought of to earn more money. I used the place regularly for 5 years and always recommend it. Not now will do my best to warn people away.

Took my Renault in yesterday to MOTEST…

Took my Renault in yesterday to MOTEST Camberley. 50 mins later failed on multiple items, one was eps and abs light on. Neither of which are on or have ever been on since owning the vehicle. Second item nearside brakelight out, got home checked...brake light not out. Third item headlight aim to low....adjust it then using the internal control. We normally have 5 people in the car so that would be correct just use the dial to correctly align them based on weight.
Interesting advisory was brake light on, what on earth does that even mean...brake lights come on when you touch the brake pedal. They are absolutely incompetent. Called to query rude lady suggested eps/abs lights were on during test....REALLY? I drove it there and back no lights. Revisted the vehicle still no lights.

AVOID! Came in 8 minutes late and got turned away stating “nothing they could do as they are on a tight schedule”

AVOID!
Terrible company. Not very trustworthy.
Came in 8 minutes late to my appointment and got told that they wouldn’t be able to do the MOT because of a “tight schedule”.
Sorry but 8 minutes is not going to put out your schedule that much that you turn away a customer paying for your service.
Will never use again.

Very disappointed MOT. Ripped off

Very disappointed MOT.
I’ve used MoTest for many years with only one bad issue in the early days but the garage manager sorted it.
Anyway, had my car booked in for any mot, took the car 2 weeks before to another garage for pre checks, rear suspension needed sorting but everything else was good.
Replaced rear suspension and booked in, failed mot. Failed on rear brake lines and front ball joints.
Found this very strange as another garage pre checked and passed and the ball joints all replaced just 1 year earlier.
Told them all had been replaced to be told she saw the tester wobbling it about.
Took the car to my garage and bought all parts, BMW ball joints are part of the suspension arm and all had to be to be replaced, expensive.
All replaced only to be told the brake line was replaced and the only was in great condition and to top it off the ball joints all in perfect condition.
Took the car back today for re test and it Moted,
Last time I’m using them, very sad as feel I was failed on theses items so motest would get the work.
Total rip off

Aldershot Motest

Having moved into the area in the past 18 months I wanted to use a local garage, rather than travel to where I used to live. Saw recommendations for Aldershot Motest online so I booked in. Whole process was straightforward and efficient - they sent me a reminder the day before, notified me of any issues during servicing, and worked quickly. Reasonable price too.

Would definitely recommend and will use again.

I don’t have a regular garage for service and MOT and so when I recently saw recommendations for MOTest on Facebook, I checked out their website and thought I would give them a try.
I used the one in Epsom, booked a small service and MOT online for a date and time that suited me, and I could see the basic price upfront (great).
On the day, very helpful at reception. Then an update later from Chris to advise about the service and MoT, let me know some work needed doing and the price, and they could do it then and there.
Phone call when it was ready to pick up, and they had managed to save me a bit of money on costs.
All in all great, friendly, reliable service, and at a great price. Will definitely use again and recommend. Many thanks

MOTEST Tonbridge

MOTEST Tonbridge - had my car MOT'd by them last week - I have been using them for three years and have always found them quick, efficient and thorough. Decided to have a full service on my Fiesta which was booked in at a fixed price. Extra parts meant it going over the quoted price but they called and checked before any extra parts and materials were used. Can't speak highly enough of them and thoroughly recommend them to any Tonbridge car owner.

Showing a very misleading mistake, On the web site

I have had 2 cars MOTed this month. Very happy with the MOTs at Hemel. 5 stars

Not so Happy with Motest's web site and their head office. They are showing a very misleading mistake. On their web site. I contacted the Head Office, But it is still there.
Under the button ABOUT
Motest & Covid-19 update
"Dear Customer,
We want to bring you up to date with our MOT/ garage services position. On March 25th, the government announced the following;
Car owners are granted a six-month extension for Mot's that expire from Monday March 30th.
The extension applies from the date of expiry......"
This is for the March 2020 Up-date, last year. As they do not show the year on this up-date and it is now March 2021. Some people may think this is new for 2021 and not get there MOTs. it needs up dating.

Very good service and friendly staff

Very good service and friendly staff. I use Camberley branch to service and MOT my family cars.
Recently performed a major service on my 2015 BMW for a fraction of the price of the main dealer, and they can now record the BMW electronic service history.

AVOID if You Value Your Safety

AVOID if you value your safety.

I had an MOT carried out in Farnham (Nov 2020). MOTest missed some serious corrosion on the rear of my front brake disc. Luckily the garage that carried out the final service noticed this fault and managed to make the car safe to drive (thank god, I have kids). The final garage stated "we are staggered this could have been missed and should have resulted in a failed MOT".

In addition, during the MOT my key was broken by MOTest. Unbelievably bad service and are they interested in either complaint. You guessed it, no. Never again!!!!

We failed this customers car October 29 on 4 major defects. It did not fail on the brake discs as the MOT regulations are quite clear as defined in the DVSA manual below;
'A brake disc or drum must be significantly worn before you should reject it. Being worn below the manufacturer’s recommended limits is not a reason in itself.'
Defect Category
(a) Brake disc or drum:
(i) significantly and obviously worn: Major
(ii) insecure, fractured or otherwise likely to fail: Dangerous
(b) Contaminated with oil, grease etc. Major
(c) Missing Dangerous
(d) Brake drum back plate insecure Major

Brake disc corrosion is itself not a reason to fail a vehicle, so to make the claim that we allowed an unsafe item to go unnoticed or missed is totally incorrect - they were to acceptable standard.

We carry out tens of thousands of test a year and would never let a vehicle through a test that was not to regulation so totally reject the 'avoid if you value your safety' proposition.

As far as the key is concerned, it is true it broke in our workshop which is unfortunate, but this was not due to rough handling on our part - the plastic casing just failed. We affected a repair as best we could which the customer tried in our presence and it worked. It is regrettable that this happened but to hold us solely responsible is not right. However, we would be happy to source a replacement at a heavily discounted price, if the customer wants to get in touch.

I'd like to tell you about my very bad…

I'd like to tell you about my very bad experience yesterday.
Yesterday I had the MOT for my van, I knew it wouldn't turn on, because not using it since March I thought the battery had drained.
Thanks to the help of a neighbor it was turned on and I went with my husband to the MOTEST garage in Epsom, arrived there it turned off again.
The mechanic told us it was the alternator that didn't work and sent us away!!!
Telling us that first we had to repair the alternator and then come back!
Now, I'm not a mechanic, but the one who sent us away, yes!
Knowing full well that he could stop on the street at any time... And in fact we stopped at the intersection of Ewell By Pass...
Where we stayed for five very long hours waiting for a tow truck and the police who had to block traffic!!!
What I don't understand is how a "professional" can, knowing what can happen, send you away from a garage, where they could very well fix everything! They also had the place to park it waiting for a tow truck if they just didn't want to fix it!
Mah!

We are sorry to learn of Mrs Dominici's problems with her van and the unfortunate breakdown. However, we feel the comments and blame are unfair. We are a 4.9 Google garage, so very highly rated which clearly illustrates our commitment to exceptional levels of service and we have treated this customer no differently.
Her van is a class 7 (3000-3500kg), a heavy vehicle kitted out as a mobile pizza kitchen and it was booked in for MOT. Because of the governments 6 month MOT extension due to Covid, test demands are exceptionally high, particularly for class 7 vans. Regrettably the customer was late for the appointment which we understand was due to starting difficulties after the van had been laid up for some time. When it arrived there was a visual warning light indicating a charging fault, probably with the alternator. However we wanted to help out so attempted to test it, after starting it on a boost (which in itself is enough reason for rejection prior to commencement of test). When it was clear the MOT could not be undertaken without issue the test had to be abandoned. This led to the question of repair.
The only way you can change the alternator on this Renault Traffic is from underneath should this be the actual fault – which as this point was not confirmed, so to change it required our special ramp for heavy vehicles. This ramp was in use and could not be used and it is heavily booked out for the next 2 weeks with pre booked workshop appointments. This was explained to the customer in a very polite manner as was the fact the van could not be left, as the car park is very full and would be busy for the foreseeable due to workload.
We re-boosted her van to get it going and advised her to try other garages and she then left. We did everything we could in the circumstances but unfortunately could not help any more.
For the record, the vehicle was tested by us last year and taken elsewhere for subsequent repairs and returned for retest.
