First time user received first class service.

As the title says this was my first experience with Mr Pen and I can honestly say I was impressed by their service. The pen I ordered was the Churchmans Prescriptor and my only problem with it was the medium nib I ordered was a little too broad for my taste but I contacted Mr Pen and they replaced it no questions asked and had the new nib in the post straight away. All in all a very pleasant retail experience and after seeing the quality of their products I will be buying from them again. Keep up the good work guys.

I ordered, it came, it worked.

I have made two purchases from Mr Pen aka P J Ford & Associates Ltd. The first was a fountain pen which writes and is pleasant to write with, the second was a bottle of fountain pen ink. This also writes ! So, you could say that I am pretty much the archetypal "satisfied customer" ! Uneventful, speedy, painless. Yawn. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Top Product - top service

I have the pleasure of owning two Italix Parson's Essentials - one with a "fine stub" where a fine nib has been cut and tuned to turn into a .8 stub and a medium nib. Both pens are a delight to see, hold and of course write with. They were delivered the day after I ordered them, even when I had my name put on one. This company is a delight to deal and in the Italix pens I have chosen proved to be amazing quality and an equally superb price. I have recommended this company again and again and will continue to do so.

Mr. Pen is a treasure trove

Having bought a Parson's Essential (Amber), I liked it so much that I decided to try one of its bigger brothers from Italix, the Captain's Commission. It turned out to be an even better fit for my hand as it has more girth and heft. The clip is also more flexible. The nibs (medium) on both pens are amazingly smooth. They are not identical, however: the nib on the Captain's Commission is bigger and draws a slightly broader line. The ink flow on both pens is excellent (no skipping). Both pens are elegant, well made and a pleasure to write with. They are actually better than much pricier pens I have. At these prices and for this quality, these pens are real bargains and deserve to be better known.

Italix Parson's Essential

To start, I ordered this Pen from Canada and paid for the basic shipping cost - the pen took 3 days to get to me - Incredible!

I have used many fountain pens some more expensive some less expensive than this one. In my experience this is one of the nicest pens I have ever used and really cannot see a reason to ever have to by another pen! I ordered mine with a cursive medium nib which is hand finished by Mr. Ford. The nib, as one would expect with a cursive, had a pronounced "sweet spot" but after a couple days of use the pen really hit its stride. It is buttery smooth to write with.

Physically, the pen is gorgeous in the black piano lacquer. Mr. Ford really does an amazing job providing a top quality pen at a very reasonable cost. I very pleased.

To give you an idea of how often I use a fountain pen, I go through one .6ml ink converter a week - so fairly regular use.

Thank you Mr. Ford.

Purchase of Parson's Essential & Churchman's Prescriptor Fountain Pens

Mr Pen's website was easy to use and provided very informative information about the two pens that I ordered as well as a variety of others by Italix and other manufacturers. Video information available on u-tube was very helpful. From placement of the order delivery was prompt, each pen being delivered after only two days. Each is superb but different - smooth italic nibs with good ink flow combined with an exceptional quality of manufacture. From my experience I would not hesitate in recommending purchase of any pen from Mr Pen's website and would particularly recommend Italix since for the price, the quality, appearance and writing capability is second to none.

Superlative writing instrument.

After learning of the highly rated Italix range of pens and the service from P.J.Ford, I had high expectations that when I came to make a purchase, I would find the same rewards. I've not been disappointed.

It's not unusual that one can find a means in most arenas to make the everyday mundane a special experience, be it making coffee, driving a motorcar, listening to music &c. It's just very pleasing when all your expectations of quality are met or exceeded and when the price is so reasonable.

The Parson's Essential, in my case with medium stub has displaced my previous favourite pen for correspondence; an unlikely old Parker with an oblique nib as the one with which to receive instant gratifying handwriting pleasure.

The line is crisp, wet and even, the starts are instant and the balance in my hand is perfect for the weight. It flatters my handwriting while also inspiring a level of attention to detail. There is no doubt as I use it that this pen is better than I am, not as I have felt in the past when odd skips and missed loops only spoil the experience with one or two other pens I have used.

I am, as I hope is obvious from this, very impressed and pleased with my purchase. While one only needs one pen really, I have to wonder if fancying a different nib for other occasions would justify another Italix purchase in the future. At this price, it certainly would.

Very disappointed

I am very disappointed with the Italix pen my wife bought me for my birthday. Billed as quality worth twice the price, it actually has the same nib assembly and convertor as a Manuscript fountain pen that I bought for £10. The nibs themselves are gold plated and have been ground to make them italic. The colour was nothing like the photo on the website, the ink flow is poor and the pen is a very strange shape and weight, nothing like any other pen I've ever held - an immensely heavy cap and no balance at all.
Sadly I left it too long to try and return it, though I was well within a year, and am now lumbered with a poorly functioning and ugly object. I was misled by the tone of the website and taken in by the promise of quality. Such experiences undermine the trust in online shopping.

So sad to have received such a review, I assume that because the pen has a branded 'Manuscript' nib, that this is the Italix Originalis. We make it clear that the pen uses these nibs so that we can offer a wide range of inexpensive nibs on the 'Osmiroid ' principle. We offer thirty days for a person to return a pen for refund or exchange to another more suitable model. We can only apologise that this pen did not reach the customer's expectation. However we have sold hundreds of this model over the years and this was the first complaint.

Brilliant

Excellent service, pens personally ground for you by Mr. Ford, one day delivery as standard, great returns policy. And a class and style unmatchable at the price. I love my Italix pens.

An excellent store, with superior products, quick delivery to West coast of the USA, and knowledge assistance made this purchase easy, and pleasant.

The Italix product, "The Parson's Essential" is so easy to write with. I'm an novice when it comes to fountain pens, but this pen is just a joy to use. I read the reviews, and watched online comparisons. This convinced me to give this pen a try. I wasn't sure if the broad Italic NIB was going to be too wide, and wet, but it wasn't. I was in amazement after I started to use it, as it was exactly what I wanted. It is well made, feels very solid, and the black finish is perfect. It writes so smooth, and the lines are very crisp. The cost seems is so reasonable with what I received. I also purchased a Parker Sonnet black lacquer with a steel broad NIB with the Italc NIB grind. A very nice pen, but after using the Parson's Essential, I'll be using it more then the Parker I'm sure. Such a treat to write with it. Great pen, great price, and fast delivery. I'll be back for more.

Excellent products, quick email response to questions!

I can't express what a fan I am of the Italix line of pens, the craftsmanship of the product is simply phenominal.
As I live in the US shipping was a bit of a wait, took a little over a week to arrive. I queried Mr.Pen's about this and was assured the pens were on their way and should arrive shortly, sure enough the next day they were in my mail. Just my instant gratification insanity not being catered to, but they were shipped around the world so...
Again, I can't express the value I feel I've recieved for my money, no small thing in this day and age. Highly recommended!

People think I paid hundreds for this pen... Lots of compliments :) Italix Churchman's Prescriptor

It is definitely my most expensive, classier looking pens out of my collection of 10 fountain pens. Im surprised that a crisp Italic could be so smooth. My pen has absolutely zero issues with catching/scratching paper. Although I tend to use nicer paper. But stil, I have used it to make notes on handouts made of low quality paper and have had no issues. For the most part the fit and finish was exceptionally. The black piano laquer is fantastic to feel and look at. The only issue is the feed seems slightly off center. I kept removing and inserting the nib/feed and it seems it fits exactly like that. Im thinking its intentional then... but it just looks odd. It kind of sticks out only because the rest of the pen is perfect. But I don't see any adverse affects in the writing experience because of it. The feed is just wet enough. Makes for very smooth writting. A good balance you could say. But just to be critical, It's not like my TWSBI or Noodler's in the fact that you can prime the feed by advancing the piston so you can get more of wetness in the writting. I like the wetness to be on the extreme side every once in awhile and there is no way to adjust the wetness. Priming the feed more and more eventually just leads to pushing ink out the feed. Its just stays perfectly consistently just wet "enough" all the time. Not really a negative though. Thats all that I could really complain about. You really are getting MORE than you paid for. If you can afford an Italix, there is just no excuse not to own one.

Superb pen!

I ordered my Parson's Essential - the blue one - last week. It arrived in South-West France yesterday, so delivery was well within estimate. The pen was packaged securely in a jiffy bag and well protected. The pen is absolutely beautiful! Superb build quality and a good weight. I haven't inked it up yet, think I'll just admire it for a few days! Looked at the nib through a loupe and it looks spot on. I've got no doubt it'll write as well as it looks. I'll be ordering another one for my son's 40th birthday.
