Not a contractor to trust

Unfortunately, I have to leave a negative review for this contractor.

They installed a roof over a structure built by a carpenter they recommended. Initially, Morne appeared highly professional—well-spoken, knowledgeable, and thorough in his inspection and quoting process. However, issues quickly arose.

First issue: After the job was quoted, Morne never returned to the site. In fact, despite numerous phone calls, he only came back over two years later.

Second issue: I made full payment before the rainy season. Four months after installation, the first rains came, and we immediately noticed a small leak. It took them an entire month—and several more rains—before they finally inspected it, despite repeated promises and requests for photos and videos.

Over time, the problem worsened, growing from one leak to four. They attempted two repairs, the second of which happened 18 months after the initial job was completed and paid for. When I pleaded for Morne to personally assess the issue instead of sending another team, he repeatedly postponed. Eventually, I managed to reach him while he happened to be in the area. His first words when answering the phone were, "Oh, did you see me drive past your house?"—which was both amusing and frustrating.

When he finally inspected the roof, he spent 20 minutes running water tests, took several photos, and claimed to have found the issue. He assured me that his team would fix it "as soon as possible." That was in November 2024. It is now February 2025, and he has stopped answering his phone.
Advice if you plan to hire this contractor:

✔ Insist that Morne is on-site when the job is done.
✔ Do NOT make full payment until the roof has been tested through multiple rains.

I regret trusting this company and hope this review helps others avoid the same experience.
