Bullied me into deleting files due to…

Bullied me into deleting files due to excess storage and they shutdown both my websites even though i told them they can delete what they needed to. All of my images on my website were deleted once they went ahead and it would've been enough to scare away potential clients. I had to pay a freelancer $300 to recover them and fix the issue they caused. I had positive experiences with them before this but they turned nasty very quickly. Beware because this can happen to anyone and they will shut you down.

UPD: Thank you for providing the details. After carefully reviewing the case once again, we would like to clarify a few important points regarding the situation. Over the course of the incident, we provided additional time for the matter to be resolved before any action was taken. However, on shared hosting servers, storage resources are technically limited and must be balanced fairly across all customers.

Overuse of file storage can negatively impact the performance and stability of other users on the server. For this reason, we are required to enforce our Acceptable Use Policy and hosting limitations consistently.

According to our Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), only 10GB of music, video, or other multimedia files can be stored on our shared hosting servers. You can check more details in paragraph 10 of this document: https://www.namecheap.com/legal/hosting/aup/

We would also like to emphasize that the reported files were removed only after multiple confirmations were received from your side. Prior to the removal, we additionally advised that any important data should be backed up to avoid accidental loss.

We sincerely apologize for the frustration and disruption this issue has caused you and your business. We understand how important this matter is to you and your business.

We really want to do everything we can to assist you. At this time, however, we only have a single available backup of your website that can be restored, and we mentioned it in the email with our support team. If we can still assist you, please let us know.

Took some emails, but got there in the end😉

Edit after company investigated, apology given & accepted, along with the refund from the discount that should have been applied.

The issue was never about how easy it was to purchase and register a domain name or the cost, It was straightforward and pretty easy, even if your not technically minded.

It was the response when I raised the issue.

I am a first time customer, I purchased my domain name check out failed to apply my NEW Customer discount voucher asked them to look into and got..

Please supply proof of discount, screenshot supplied, 5 messages, backwards and forwards where they entirely missed the point.

I would have happily accepted an apology it didn't work and being told it could not be applied retrospectively but instead, I was accused, I did something wrong, along with maybe I was not a new customer 😅 🤦‍♀️

I wasn't demanding compensation. I wasn't demanding a refund. I asked a reasonable question and got excuses, and blame instead of customer service.

Considering they pride themselves on Customer Service.

I would say this is a massive fail ❌️ and I won't be a second time customer.

They added things on without me knowing…

I was charged for things I never asked for, wanted or used. They added things on without me knowing and had autorenew on as standard without it being at all clear. I got in touch asking what I was being charged for and just got told to look on my dashboard but the things I was being charged for didn't show there.
This has been going on for months. I tried to block the charges through my bank but as they use a slightly different name for each charge (Sneaky) it didn't work.They told me that will charge me administrative costs for trying to cancel through my bank as you are supposed to cancel with them depite the fact that I had tried several times ver explicitly asking them to cancel everything.
It took 4 long converstations with several different people just to figure out what it was I was being charged for. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AT ALL

Excellent support and very patient assistance

I had some issues connecting my addon domain and setting up SSL on my shared hosting account, and the support team was incredibly patient and helpful throughout the whole process. They explained the DNS and hosting configuration clearly, guided me step by step, and stayed professional even while I was very confused with all the technical setup 😅

Special thanks to Bohdan for helping me understand the nameservers issue and explaining how the SSL propagation works. The support experience was fast, kind, and reassuring.
