I recently had fitted a conservatory…

I recently had fitted a conservatory and i have absolutly no bad words about anyone in this company.
The sales rep Paul, was very polite and answered al my questions, gave his opinion and wants “pushy” or “desperate to sell”
Due to Covid-19 the contrction was delayed, but that isnt the companies fault, once it was ok for them to start working, they called me and let me know all the steps
Tom the builder ,was absolutly amazing, and did a great job
Dan the plumber , did his job very well and was very polite and friendly
Scott the window fitter was an absolute gem and went an extra mile , when he left he cleared the conservatory and garden, you could swear that the contruction appeared over night, by magic
James from the office was always happy on the phone and kept me informed at every step
The price was very competitive and the quality is amazing
Im very happy with my new conservatory

This is my second review for this Company

This is my second review for this Company ..... and the reason I write this is because I find it annoying that one or two people who have left ‘five star’ reviews about Needhams Windows have more or less accused people (like myself) who’ve given negative reviews that we are lying about our experiences.

Obviously I can only speak for myself, but my experience with this Company is genuine, and I imagine everyone else’s reviews are genuine too!
People have spent a lot of money to have doors/windows etc fitted, and if the Company have failed to provide a good standard of workman ship then the Company should expect negative comments. It stands to reason that people are going to leave a review giving the necessary feedback.

What I would also like to say is that I find it very out of order that Needhams have NOT commented and put right the fact that we have had genuine negative experiences with them, rather than allow people who read the reviews to believe that maybe there are fake negative reviews left when (in my case) this certainly isn’t so!

For the record too, I find it odd that a ‘genuine customer’ would accuse others of not being so.....

.......................................................................................
In response to Paul Sharma, a supposed ‘customer’ of Needhams, who rudely wrote about my personal review.

You have no right to slate other people with regards to the reviews we leave. You are apparently a very satisfied customer who left your first five star review for this Company BEFORE you even had any work done!

Very strange. What’s more, IF you are a customer then good for you if you’ve been pleased with the work carried out for you. However, not everyone has had a great experience, which is absolutely clear to see judging by the amount of negative reviews.

Can't fault Needhams

Can't fault Needhams. They have always come out when we have needed slight adjustments to our doors. Workmen have always been polite. We also used them to replace some of our windows and two years on there have been no issues with them. We wouldn't go anywhere else.

I apologise for the delay in identifying the issue with your door. My inspector found that an additional part was required to stabilise the door. Hopefully now you will have many problem free years with your door. Once again, I apologise, but at least we never gave up finding the solution

Awful Company, Avoid

Awful, awful company, avoid like the plague. I paid £500 for a bay window quoted at £1063 and wrote them a three page letter summarising my reasoning for this payment. I only paid £500 for this installation as I felt this was a fair and reasonable payment in light of the issues detailed which I shall list for ease of reference for fellow reviewers:

• You missed the original installation date
• My husband wasted a day’s holiday
• You lied about the whereabouts of the fitter
• We had to cancel plans we had made for a day out to accommodate the revised install date
• Your company sent an internally damaged window
• Your company made an error with the measurements of the window
• We had to use two forms of heating on Wednesday night to accommodate the draught entering through the ill fitting window
• We had to use two forms of heating on Thursday night to accommodate the draught entering through the ill fitting window
• My husband has had to take another day off work today to be home for the removal of the previous install and for the install of the new window.
• We have had to live with an eyesore of a window for a week
• We sent you an e-mail on Saturday 05 October requesting you advise how the simple measuring and fitting of a window had gone so drastically wrong and asking where the fault lay i.e. the surveyor, factory or sales rep. To date we have not had the common courtesy of a reply from you, not even to apologise.
• The ‘correct’ window fitted on Friday 11 October has the incorrect openers on it
• I was promised a discount off my next order by your general manager, Matthew Swain, as there is no way on earth I will be placing any more orders with you, you can deduct it from this order.

Please buy from somewhere else.....

I very rarely post negative reviews but please do yourself a favour and shop around as Needhams Windows will very likely disappoint you. We placed the original order and was told 6 weeks and it will all be done including the building work. Didn't hear anything from them for like 3 weeks when eventually a surveyor came who didn't even know about our full order and was only coming to measure for a door and no windows which I admit we ordered after but I did order them! We then didn't hear anything for another week. I called to be told they could fit within the time frame of 6 weeks but wouldn't be able to complete the building work untill the 10 week mark. So we told them to fit and we would do the building work. Found that the windows had been measured wrong so have to cut back the window openings to be able to fit the windows in. Then the trouble really started. Turned up without a window and was told it would be with us on Friday! 2 weeks later we have just had it fitted! Had a drafty and leaky board covering the hole while we waited but we had a lot of wind and rain which made the experience even worse. The only good thing about the whole experience were the fitters! They were pleasant, honest and tidy! Did a really great job and nothing was too much trouble. Sad to say we will never use Needhams again after many years of use with never a problem! I hope the new management can sort themselves soon or they will probably lose a lot of their repeat business.

I am sorry that the time scales for your installation did not live up to your expectations. During this present time, in common with many other firms, delays in product procurement have extended lead times. Also post-lockdown there has been a sharp rise in orders. Fitting windows and doors with associated brickwork removal and provision is a construction project. It is not an Amazon delivery of a box. I hope now that all work has been completed that you will be pleased with the work and perhaps renew your confidence in Needhams Windows

Poor quality and disappointing response to complaint

I've used Needhams twice in the past and recommended them a few times and service & quality was always excellent so I decided to use them for some replacement patio French Doors at a rental property I own. Having placed my order at the start of Dec 2020 and after waiting a month to get a date for a survey, I ended up chasing a few times before the survey took place as unusually Needhams had not contacted me. A month later and after further phone calls by me, a fitting date was eventually confirmed for the last week in Feb 2021. This was disappointing as I was expecting a quick turn round and hoped to get my tenants, who had a new baby, some new double glazed doors during the cold winter moths. Sadly when the fitter arrived he blamed problems with sizes on the surveyor and it seemed the the door measurements were wrong. With the old doors removed, fitting the new undersized doors was the only option available to us. The doors seem fine although the quality of fitting was poor with a bodged piece of trim covering a circa 20mm gap at the top of the door. After checking building regs I established a gap of 10mm was the max I should accept. After questioning this I was told that the problem was a mortar bed that the old timber sill had been resting on was the cause of the sizing issue - I spoke to experts who confirmed measurements should have been brick to brick and replacing the mortar bed was not a reasonable solution. I complained about the issue and indicated that I was prepared to accept the doors provided they were weather tight on the basis that a small reduction of the invoice value was offered - the alternative was for replacement doors to be made to the correct size but I didn't want the delay and inconvenience so agreed for fitters to re-seal the doors which it turns out had been fitted with only a small amount of insulating foam gap filler and a strip of PVC. After I paid 50% of the invoice value as a gesture of goodwill whilst waiting for the poor workmanship to be put right, I was informed by Needhams that "no compensation will be offered or given as we have completed the installation". I had expected a modest 10% reduction to compensate me for the 4 additional 22mile round trips I had to make to the property to resolve the problem. Whilst not an ideal situation, I was prepared to put the sub-standard quality and service down to a 'lockdown glitch' but expected more than an apoloy. The final issue with the hinges dropping/expanding which prevented the doors from opening and closing was identified a week ago and this has now hopefully been resolved but I'm worried that expansion & contraction will cause problems in the future as the tolerances the doors are manufactured to appears to be very fine. Apart from the original fitter, I would say all of the personnel at Needhams were professional and courteous. 4 different people visited the property on 5 occasions. I was disappointed that the credit controller who understood that my expectation was some small financial compensation chose not to offer anything. I'm afraid I will think carefully before using or reccomending Needhams again.

I would give Needhams 0 stars

I would give Needhams 0 stars if I could. We had our windows fitted over a year ago following positive recommendations. The initial job was swift, however rushed and incomplete. A year on we are still awaiting completion. The customer service team always seem very helpful and understanding yet there seems to be no follow up, trades men not turning up, turning up on days you haven't been informed off, then people coming to review the ongoing problems and then no communication to team to know what’s been completed. I’m fed up and frustrated that this is still ongoing. They have replaced our patio doors more than once. I would not recommend. It’s not worth the hassle!

Large bow window fitted--thank you Gary

Large bow window fitted. There was an initial problem with the sill being the wrong size but Needhams handled it very professionally, got a replacement sill made that day, and sent an extra fitter the following day so that the installation was completed within the specified time.
Gary the fitter, was punctual, polite, did a superb job and left everything clean and all rubbish removed.
We are very pleased with the result and would highly recommend Needhams. There are no pushy salesmen, the quality of the materials and workmanship are extremely good as is the after installation service should you have any problems.

Excellent, but customer service could be better

We had Needhams to replace 13 windows, 2 bays, front/back and french doors. The salesman wasn't too pushy and the price was competitive. They kept us well informed of progress as there was a few week's wait for the windows to be made up.

The fitters were quick, clean and efficient and took pride in their work, the windows were finished off beautifully with all imperfections dealt with. We are VERY hard to please people and we could not fault one bit of the installation. The windows appear good quality, low noise, good heat retention and no whistles etc.

There was unfortunately a minor niggle (hence the 4 stars) where Needham's wanted to charge hundreds extra mid-installation to add new fascias to the bay windows. We thought this was unreasonable, after all, why would anyone want to pay hundreds of pounds for bay windows to have them to be set against manky wooden fascias? This caused us some stress at the time, and considering ours was a large, expensive job I am quite surprised such a commotion was made for what was effectively 12ft of facia board. The issue was resolved in the end though, thankfully, and the bays now look perfect.

I am sorry for the confusion regarding the bay window fascia. It is standard not to include a price for this as many customers wish to retain their original fascias. This means that for many customers a better sales price can be given.

Bad bad bad

Had a front door fitted by them lost count of how many times I’ve had to call them and had different people out to hang it properly only for it to move/slip out of place we have a gap all around it and it doesn’t close properly in certain weather unless it’s slammed into place. Inherited their bad windows

Bought a house that had their windows and doors replaced in 2013 by this company. They. All. Howl. It's driving me insane and it's not the seals its the frame and head jamb that has movement when obviously it should be secure! Warranties don't get passed on through different owners but at least now I know to avoid this company for a redo!
Edit after company response: why would I want you anywhere near our doors and windows after seeing your companies handy work. I had to secure the head jam with screws in our main bedroom and seal it all with silicone until we can get a professional to redo them as the wind would keep us up all night. None of the wood is cut straight it all looks hideous. It's also very tacky and obvious to write your own 5 star reviews. Who lists every single member of staff by name? My star writing has gone down due being able to see the crappy job more closely when dealing with it ourselves.

After sales service terrible.

The after sales service from this company is atrocious. I had my composite door fitted in Oct 2020. All fine until it rained which resulted in rain pouring through the letterbox. Phoned Needhams whose response was initially very good and sent an engineer out to fix the problem. The engineer said there was a fault with the letter box and just put sealant on it and left without even testing it. Rang Needhams on the 16 Nov to say that water was still leaking. Engineer arrived Monday 23 Nov. I explained what was happening so he tested it. He said he couldn’t believe how much water was coming through the letterbox into my newly laid flooring in my hallway and also noticed that water was also leaking into the hallway through the diamond cassette. He explained that it was no good trying to re-seal so he would order me a new letterbox and cassette. I have rang Needhams speaking to Martin or Andy on 30th Nov, 2nd, 9th, 18th, 21st Dec, and 4th Jan. On the 9th Dec,Martin told me that the parts were due in the week after. I rang again this morning at 9.05am and spoke to Andy. And as always excuses, excuses. I asked him how long it takes to make a letterbox and a cassette as I have been waiting for 10 weeks now for this matter to be resolved. Needhams just don’t care about their customers but are quick enough to take their money off them. Totally unacceptable I JUST WANT MY DOOR FIXING.

I apologise for the time taken to complete the service visits for the leaks. This was due to covid related product supply issues. The new letter box and glass units have now been replaced and since March 2021 there have been no further issues.

Disappointing service. What has gone wrong at Needhams?

Avoid this company! We ordered new windows & doors from Needhams. We had used the company several times before but this time the installation was dreadful & customer service non-existent. Doors left not closing properly and had loose hinges. Very disappointing to see that a once decent company has deteriorated into a terrible one. I doubt it will be long before they are out of business.

Update:
Having received communication from one of their senior managers a few weeks ago apologising for the poor service we had received and assuring us that he was now stepping in to improve things, it appears they have now replied to my negative review putting the blame back onto me as their customer. Says it all really.

I recommend Needhams

I recommend Needhams, their products are top quality and they are competitively priced. All of the team including sales, surveyors, fitters, maintenance and after-sales are polite, friendly and professional. The installation is carried out by the fitting teams with a minimum of disruption, attention to detail is spot-on and they ensure the finished product is perfect and everywhere is cleared up before they leave. We already have a Needhams conservatory, and we are gradually having our doors, windows, soffits, fascias and guttering replaced by Needhams too. The new UPVC windows with the P-K glass have made our house so much warmer and quieter than the old ones (although they were less than 20 years old, the product improvements that have taken place in that time are considerable). Likewise the new composite doors are a huge improvement in terms of fit, draught-exclusion, security and noise reduction. John Wagstaff January 2021.

Having composite Door fitted Jan 2021

Having read all these reviews it comes across as people are being paid to write negative reviews about a company to under mine them and stop potential customers from using the company products. I would like to mention I did my research and looked into Needham windows and doors and they have been around for a long time since 1994. If they were so bad how come they still are fitting windows doors conservatory? There are so many companies that have gone bust changed their names and will any do anything to damage a companies reputation who has been around since 1994. I am in the process off having a new composite door fitted and the sales man Peter Jarvis who has been with them for over 20 years came over very professional knowledgeable throughout. A few days later the surveyor came round and arrived on time and measured up. So far it been a polite professional service. I am now looking forward to having my door fitted in Jan 2021. I will be writing another review then as I am sure they will do a professional great job with the composite door and will get other double glazing done by Needhams.
