The flower market is great
I always grab my flowers from here the prices are great, so I can get loads without spending too much. Perfect for flower arrangements .
Good and bad
Good and bad
Such a beautiful place, lovely products, great range, knowledgable traders who are super helpful. Did have some car park drama, security need to be on upper level. Love the atmosphere of the market.
No atmosphere
Since the new market opened, I have been just a few times and one the reasons why I don't go often as I used to is because the atmosphere is no longer there. There was always good banter laughter and fun at the old market but now it's just like a shopping mall. You may think this is not a very professional outlook, but let's face it, if you decide to take up floristry as a career, we all know it's not easy, generally the wages are rubbish but we do it because we love it and speaking as an old-timer, I do not love the new market. The only good thing I have to say is that the toilets are cleaner!

Generally good but the minor frustrations are that the admin Office for the entry permit renewal was not open at 7.15 on the two occasions I pacifically stayed late in the market to call in. Perhaps you could open it at 6 am on one day a week to sort out any entry problems etc as by 7 a large number of independent clients have had to leave the market. Also I do not use the flower market any more as I refuse to pay extra to go in with my VAN as the fee made my small but regular purchases uncompetitive with other retail outlets . I,e, £6.00 box primula became £11 with parking.
Flower Market is a disaster
The New Covent Garden Flower Market is a crowded nightmare to visit. Lower carpark is congested with the stallholders vehicles, the entrance/exit is insufficient for the volume of traffic, access via the lifts is slow and cramped, collections now take forever and the site is overcrowded and difficult to use.
As a consequence, we are now taking more of our business elsewhere at the cost to the stallholders and suppliers.
Lots of people standing around together…
Lots of people standing around together talking and not doing anything, I think they are meant to be traffic Marshalls. What is the point of all of these people? Terrible waste of money.....spend a little on the toilets, they are disgusting!
much better layout more compact and…
much better layout more compact and more suitable for the current flower industry in 2019.
I know the market is temporary ...
I know the market is temporary .... but it’s not a pleasant experience when the crowds are heavy, when the lifts are broken down, Christmas crowds were horrendous as there just is not enough physical space for customers and product. I suppose I’m comparing it to the old market which was more user friendly and I just can’t get in the groove with this new one
Dreadful outdated site
The whole site is dirty, broken pallets and rubbish everywhere by end of the night. Need to have eyes in the back of your head for overspeeding forklift drivers.
Difficult to park
Difficult to park, to get in and out,to load and unload, long queues and it is just not an easy experience.
