I have been using NFO for many years and I will say they have the best service in the business and top notch servers. The staff is very helpful and fast to respond to your needs.

By far the most helpful company I've…

By far the most helpful company I've ever been with

I have been with OVH for 4 years, we expanded to USA in June, and I've had more help from these guys in one month, than I have from OVH in the previous 4. Helpful all the way up to the CEO.

If you're looking for a server in the US, don't even look at anyone else. Go to NFO.

Great server host!

I have had a server with NFO for years now, I have never had any issues with their service. It has always ran very reliably with excellent network and hardware stability.

When I have had a question or issue, their support has been excellent. The staff provided thorough & excellent answers while always responding within just a few minutes of when I opened or replied to a support request. Their staff are very knowledgeable, friendly, and most importantly: human. Real shout out to support reps Vanderburg and Charlie too, real standouts!

Their policies are clearly laid out and their ToS is really simple and easy to understand, I felt like they weren't out to trick me or anything like that.

I honestly couldn't think of any other place I'd rent a server from, or recommend friends to, other than NFO. Really great job guys!

I have had a solid experience with NFO.

I have had a solid experience with NFO.

I got a VPS for “managed” game servers and the performance was good for the games I tried. The control panel offered all of the features I needed and was easy to use, even if it lacked pretty icons.

I also tried their cheapest web hosting plan. It worked well for WordPress. They turned on Let’s Encrpyt for all added domains for me, which is something that all hosts should do. The time is up for regular HTTP.

I never had a service go down on me. I had a question about the web hosting plan once and they answered it in around 1 minute. That response time can’t get much better.

expensive but higher performance, very old control interfaces

Original review was for a different host.

I've rented several times from NFO, while their general staff may not have a lot of specific knowledge, they will refer you to their senior staff "CEO" (guess its a super tiny company if the CEO is messaging random cheap clients) who is very knowledgable. The performce of the NFO servers is great and is why they cost more than other options.

We have a generous 2-day free trial period for all customers. This customer started a free trial on a BF4 server, then cancelled it and was never charged.

Our prices are in line with other providers. Our control panel for BF4 is particularly powerful because it includes all of the basics -- such as stopping, starting, seeing the status, setting all server variables -- and advanced features that other providers do not offer, including an easy-to-use rcon tool and full admin daemon that we wrote in-house. Our prices are in line with other providers for BF4.

Edit (in response to your last edit): criscocube, you must be thinking of a different host. Your interaction with staff here was brief, each staff member was professional, and the staff made it clear that you were in the free trial and had not been charged (so no refund was necessary). You had a server with us for less than two hours before you cancelled.

The purpose of the free trial is to give each customer a way to test our services with no obligation -- there's no worry about having to argue for a refund if the customer doesn't like the service for any reason. It is a truly free trial, in that we don't charge for the service until the trial ends. Cancelling during the trial means that no payment is ever made. Cancelling does not require contacting us and can be done right through the control panel.

Pros & Cons of NFO

Pros:
1.Have a nice selection of VDS options that other providers lack.
2.Support consistently answers support inquires with in 15 mins on average.
3.Server locations in the US cover all the major hubs like NYC,Chicago & LA.

Cons:
1.Pricey compared to other providers that offer better options & equal or better performance for less.
2.Only have web hosting in Seattle and lack options like cpanel etc.
3.Doesn't support some of the newer games like UT4 that other hosts support.
4.Doesn't support Vent 4 & addons like a musicbot or query bot for TS3.
5.Also control panel doesn't support updates. You have to wait for them to do the update for you.

We're happy to accept feedback anywhere, but please consider bringing concerns up with us directly in the future, so we can discuss them with you in more depth and potentially work with you on beta versions of new features. We are a small company and feedback goes right to the top, with important changes often implemented rapidly.

In terms of the concerns that you raised,

1. We tend to be in the low to middle of the range on pricing. Ordering options at all providers are fairly standard, but our control panel offers more power than most. We actually have the highest performance and even guarantee it -- you won't find higher elsewhere!
2. Definitely. We keep our webhosting in one location as a cost-saving measure and use our own control panel to also keep costs down (cPanel licensing is not cheap). In terms of raw performance, capabilities, and price, our webhosting still beats out pretty much everyone else, though. Please give it a go and let us know if you run into a capability limitation that we can address.
3. We support many new games. The UT4 pre-alpha is a somewhat older one (it's from 2014). The UT4 pre-alpha has not been a priority for implementation here because it's always had such an early state, the game now seems to be on indefinite hiatus (possibly even canceled), and we just haven't seen many requests to add support for it yet (and the particularly small user base for that game makes it a poor gamble without customers who want it!). We do support other, newer games that use the latest Unreal Engine. If you are interested specifically in UT4, please make sure to let us know directly about your request and any details on how you'd like it implemented.
4. Ventrilo has been steadily declining in popularity for many years, and we have heard very few requests for version 4, which seems to mostly be a reskinned version 3, so we haven't expended much effort in appealing to Flagship to ask to be able to host it (they haven't answered our initial emails). In terms of TS3, we haven't heard many requests for addons that are run on our end, and customers can easily run bots and other utilities on their side, such as from a VDS or home machine. Are you interested in such features personally? Please don't hesitate to contact us with detailed feedback on what you are looking for, or post it in your forums.
5. We update our games rapidly for customers and this has always been a competitive advantage for our customers (particularly before the advent of widespread Steam usage, when server updates were more complicated). Most GSPs force customers to manually log in and trigger an update check through a control panel, whereas our customers receive required updates from a central source right away, without any action necessary on their part. This allows their players to start playing the new version as soon as possible. The centralized nature of our installs also allows us to take advantage of hardlinks, decreasing server load times.

Do some of these concerns represent things that you see other hosts doing and think generally might be good to do, but don't personally want? Please let us know your opinions directly. When it comes to new features, we always let our customers guide us, instead of following competitors. With so many GSPs out there, so few of them having real experience with the nuts and bolts of hosting, and so many of them collapsing (even big names that have been around a long time), copying others just doesn't make sense for us.

Great servers but..

Amazing Servers but a disturbing control panel. Their servers are high quality but are pricey and their control panel looks old. Overall the service was good.

Great hosting company

Great hosting company! NFO servers have some of the quickest support times I have seen and I have never been disappointed with the quality of the service since being a customer for nearly 2 years. The DDoS protection is also great and I have no problems with it whatsoever.

The highest quality servers and support…

The highest quality servers and support that I've ever come across. After going through three different server hosts, we finally settled on NFO servers and have been incredibly pleased with the results thus far. The support alone is worth it, with my most recent ticket having gone up to the CEO to be resolved and was fixed within a day. I can't recommend them enough.

Absolutely Incredible.

I have used them for around 6 months and I absolutely loved their performance at absolutely amazing prices. Your servers allow me to express my creativity with my community, thank you for that. Also, their firewall is unspeakable. It is fast, accurate, and has stopped my server from going down on so many occasions especially while my server was being intensely targeted. To top it off, their support team is amazing and I have had nothing but a blast speaking with them. I definitely recommend using their service if you are serious about your game server or want something extremely reliable for your company, these are the servers you need.

Resolved my issue fairly, but I had to contact their CEO to get it done.

Update: After bringing my concern to their CEO, my issue was addressed promptly and a pro-rated refund issued. He was very polite and understanding of my situation. I only wish this had been done without having to contact him.
---
They broke my server with an unauthorized "upgrade", then my father got very ill and I had to leave the country to care for him. While I was gone, the server auto-renewed. When I returned 4 months later, I decided to cancel as the server wasn't working and I didn't need it any longer. They refused to perform a pro-rated refund, and instead accused me of revising my story. $30+ is chump change, but their cavalier attitude and lack of human empathy warranted pressing the issue and writing this review. It also means that I won't be buying any more servers from them. And, as an aside, during the time the server was running, it crashed repeatedly. You get what you pay for, I guess.

Montclair,

Servers are automatically updated if the developer of a game comes out with a new required version. If we do not update a server to the latest required version, then unfortunately, it becomes unusable. We post a notification whenever an update has to be applied to any server so that customers are kept in the loop.

If your server was being paid yearly and you were four months into a yearlong subscription, it would make sense that a refund would not be possible (our policy only allows a refund within 24 hours of an automatic payment). If extenuating circumstances are involved, a prorated credit for the remaining paid time might be possible. The extremely unusual situation of someone losing the ability to use the internet for months could be considered an extenuating circumstance, and would have to be discussed further.

We will also want to look at your separate crashing concern. In almost every case, server crashes are due to bugs in the game itself or in custom modifications made to the game server. We will be happy to help you to troubleshoot what is causing your crashes, specifically.

Please make sure that your support request is escalated to the CEO so that he can take a look at it directly.

Best hosting for web and gaming servers

Honestly, this is the greatest hosting service I have ever used. I've used many different companies but I ALWAYS go back to NFO. The support is actually the best support I've received from any other company in any other market. It's sometimes faster than being on the phone with Apple (yes the phone company!). If you're having doubts about using NFO... re-read this!

THE BEST

I have been with this company for years. Absolutely the BEST support out there. Any question at all, even when I feel like it's a dumb question, they handle with professionalism. I've never been let down, I've asked questions about potential future predictions, and was given answers to potential remedies.

Nuclear Fallout is the best. I use to own a hosting company, I've seen them all, I'm a programmer with over 23 languages known and used, and through the 90's (born 1982) I've never seen this type of support.

How did I learn about Nuclear Fallout? The prices. The learned the rest making HTML5 games, making msmwars.com, and now making a Facebook game. Nuclear Fallout, i.e. NFO, is the best that I've had a pleasure doing business with, and the rest are terrible. I subcontract for two companies, a large portion of them use GoDaddy.com, and I spend a lot of my work days taking them OUT of GoDaddy.

Go pro, go NFO, and if you don't believe me, contact me: 3dmasons at google mail. It won't let me type my email or that last domain. It's protecting me from spam, but I don't care; go NFO.

Not paid, a real review.

Best gaming server providers out there!

I can't believe some of the one star reviews on here of NFO. It is at best malicious slander or because someone jumped the gun. I've been a customer for about a month; not once have I lost connection or been the victim of a DDoS attack (I had one attempt that was filtered by a properly configured firewall and didnt even know I was being DDoSed as I continued to game as in zero lag) The only disconnects I did have were because of internap doing routine maintenance on one of their routers upstream on two specific dates, but it was very mild and they announced that there may be disconnects or increased latency because of it. They answer your tickets in minutes, if not seconds. Very friendly staff an customer support. Best of all; top of the line DDoS protection.

Best server host I've ever dealt with

I've used their servers for several years now and have always found them to be extremely accommodating and helpful. Their performance is always top-tier as well, allowing me to host international game servers that all players could confidently use.
