Quality product, dubious marketing, no escape from data collection.

Their OBD monitor product offered for "FREE" has shady marketing, not being upfront:

(1) QUALITY. The product itself works OK for me and the app has VERY GOOD quality. Battery monitor and driving efficiency analysis are welcomed parts of the experience.

(2) MY DOUBTS ABOUT "FREE": They give you their product "ZUS® Smart Vehicle Health Monitor Mini (Gen 4)" for $0 instead of declared "standard price" $60. They present it as FREE and in the last step then show you that the postage is over $19 (over 16€) – in my case. Since standard OBD2 readers cost 12€ (consumer price, and manufacturer price can be 4-6€) and the postage at the same post carrier and route in my case is 4,50€ (consumer price, but companies get discounts!), I suspect that in that $19 "SHIPPING" you cover for them price of both the device and the postage. I do not like marketers who call "FREE" as "PAID" and "PAID" as "FREE".

(3) THIS "FREE" DENIES YOU A REFUND. Shipping costs are not subject of a refund, right? Only the device, which costs $0.

(4) MY FURTHER DOUBTS ABOUT "FREE": Referral program gives you $10 if you “Invite your friends to claim the FREE ZUS device by email, sharing your link or posting on social.” How they could encourage you to obtain $10 for each friend if they gave the device to your friends for "FREE"?

(5) THEY HARVEST FROM YOU. Similarly to Facebook. Car VIN (optional) and model and year. All car errors and related behavior. All routes you make, even if you are not subscribed to mileage log. Mass-learning from all the data behind the scenes. OK, today's key trend. But even as a subscriber, you cannot opt-out from analysis and selling your data! (Even if anonymized, but still...)

(6) A VISUAL GAP ALL THE TIME: On the 1st screen in-app dashboard, you either see 4 wheels (taking about 20% of the screen) with no data indication - a big reference to their another product monitoring the tires. That space could be used better if the pressure monitors are not connected. If you remove those wheels in settings, you land in subscription-only dashboard. To me, this looks like "subscribe to remove ads" experience.

(7) NO GDPR FOR EUROPE: They are mainly focused to the U.S., compliant with GDPA and CCPA. Someone from Europe may be happy, someone not.

Overall, a solid product which I would recommend but with big marketing concerns and impossibility to stop them from data-mining and selling what you collected for them. If you are fine, then OK. Otherwise, grab some OBD-II (ELM 327) device and Torque Pro or other similar app and you are at similar price without pricey subscriptions and giving all your data to someone else.

Cheap Company with shameful and cheap customer service.

I've Purchased 4 different Devices from Nonda.

Zus Smart Vehicle Health Monitor
Zus Accurate Temp Smart Tire Safety Monitor
Zus Smart Dash Cam
Zus Smart Wireless Back Up Camera

I haven't' touch the Smart Dash Cam until recently and when I've try to sync the device it didn't work.
I contact customer support by email and we had approx. 20 or so emails back and forth with all kind of questions and directions that they wanted me to do in order to eliminate possible error. after all of this when they got to the conclusion that this device is defective they wrote that the product is out of warranty and if I want I can purchase a new one with 10% discount. This device came defective from the manufacture and they admit in writing and still refuse to change it. this company is absolutely cheap and acting cheap[. save your money and don't buy any of their product....there always issues with login and sync devices with the app. I'll never buy Nonda products and so should you.

Not really a scam but still…

So in terms of being a scam it is not in a sense that I received my device, got it in less than 2 weeks and paid $22.70 AUD.

Parcel was a bit of a joke, and clearly was basic to save shipping costs but got it and setup in seconds so all good.

Now for the device itself. Well it’s USA centric. My Holden is not in list of cars and it tries to push premium services on you and up sell but even if I did want, being in AU they don’t offer the full services and want more money for those premium things. Thus the app is kind of useless to most outside the US or unless willing to pay for a yearly subscription. Was hoping it had Apple car play option to see stats but nope. Does an ok job of tracking your mileage thou for you to manually log

My car is quite new so don’t expect errors but one other point is it could just say my car is fine and I’m none the wiser. But for $22 it’s worth trying

Not a scam.

I honestly thought it was a scam. Saw the campaign on Facebook. Paid the 15$ postal because I really wanted to check it out and it can show engine temps and my BMW doesn't have that on the dashboard so... well I gave it a try. Recv. it rather fast and have used it for a week now and haven't really encountered any serious issues. Today it couldn't connect to my iPhone XS, but then I added a new car, deleted it again and then it "forced" it to find my car or something as it worked after that.

I have two of these

I have two of these. One on my car works great!
And one in my van. My phone says the nonda is trying to connect, but it just won’t.
One morning I noticed my battery was a little bit flat, but the van started ok and it had been stood a couple of weeks. About an hour after driving it coming out of the builders, the battery was completely flat, not even a light on the dashboard, and wouldn’t accept a jump start. I disconnected the nonda and my van started immediately, I think it’s just a bad one! the one on my car still works fine.

Since the original review I have contacted Nonda about the one not working.
Communication was spot on and I received a new product within a week.
All good now.

I like the OBDII sensor just fine

I like the OBDII sensor just fine. I’ve gone through two sets of the tps. The first set seized on the tire valve stem so badly that I had to grind them off with a dremel rotary tool. The second set I’ve had multiple caps crumble and break a part as it’s very easy to over tighten them. There is no threaded limit machined on the plastic threads so you’ll be tightening them and before you know it the cap is breaking apart. Not happy with this product

I bought the ZUS Nonda obd and plugged it into my 2009 GMC Acadia and while I was driven, my engine shut off! My truck hasn’t started since! Before it shut down ck engine light started rapidly blinking! No diagnosis is revealed anything! Changed the battery, ignition switch, and still nothing! Help! It’s frustrating as hell!

I feel it's a scam

I feel it's a scam, claimed free and only paid shipment $23 assuming it's coming from overseas. I live in Australia and in order confirmation email it says will be shipped from Australian warehouse which is just 2 kms from my shipping address. $23 in shipping to deliver just next door that's scam.

Don’t listen to scaremongers, it’s free & it works!…

I live in the UK & saw the free Nonda on Facebook. Read reviews some of which said it was a scam. I decided I had nothing to lose & paid £11.62 postage. The device arrived within 4 days-amazing. Downloaded the ZUS app, created an account & all worked fine. Amazing value in my book, thoroughly recommend.
