Top service and great value for money

Excellent old school vibe guitar shop and a local hidden gem, due to there being no musical instruments shops left in the NE apart from the odd major online chain retailer where all they care about is the turnover and most of the stock is laid up in warehouses not in store.

This is where Steven James Guitars excelled straight away from walking in your greeted in a friendly manner in-front of you there is real physical stock, albeit they don’t stock every colours/guitar model in the range etc like the big online giants but you wouldn’t expect that of a locally owned business, but what they do stock is carefully selected top quality items and from what I could see at some of the best prices I’ve seen in a long time, an example of this was a striking Gibson Les Paul standard in a blue burst for £1800 yes that’s £1800 this is not a typo in 2025.

I purchased a fender jazz bass from them again at the best price I could find on a brand new jazz bass they included a free gig bag and cable but the customer service didn’t stop there I also purchased a new combo amp I originally wanted an ashdown however the store upgraded me to a blackstar at the same cost saving a further £80 on their prices and around £150 if I had bought it elsewhere.

The 2 lads that where working in the store I cannot fault both where friendly/professional and most importantly very knowledgeable and helpful.

And now the score from me, Steven James guitars is a solid 10/10 if you live in the NE then check this place out and if you don’t well guess what your in luck as they are online too, I drove 25 miles to visit the store and honestly I will do now on for anything else I might need.

Excellent delivery time!
I was, however, a little concerned about the lack of communication from the supplier, in that I did not receive any emails concerning the purchase, a confirmation or receipt of funds, just the website page. The guitar, however, is beautiful!!

Ordered my guitar around mid-day on Tuesday and it arrived mid-day on Wednesday.

Very helpful, easy to deal with and guitar ordered online and packed very well.

Great place for good value guitars and other related items

Very quick service and communication . The Gibson was classed as very good which is a very fair assessment ofbb b it , actually class it as excellent ! Well packaged and the guitar is beautiful ! and the price was really good ! Certainly think about using Steven James GuitAr and Amp again !
