Do not use Npower

No words...
For the past year Npower has been the most incompetent company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with.

Please do yourself a favour and never ever ever use them......!!!

I am upset that I even have to give…

I am upset that I even have to give this shocking company 1 star, there should be an option for - stars.

This is the WORST EVER utility company.

It has been nothing but issues since the start. They have been charging me business rates instead of domestic, it took a year to change over, once it had been changed over, they sent me a new domestic invoice! even though I had been paying extortionate business rates for the whole of this period.

There seems to be little to no difference between business and domestic rates.

They also sent my details to a Scottish debt collection agency for an electric account, when I had never even had an electric account with them!

If you call the domestic team they can not help and if you call business team they can not help either, they bat you around teams.

The staff are rude and very unhelpful and make you feel as if you should be grateful that they even answered the phone.

There is terrible communication, the data is inaccurate and they over charge you.

I would suggest to use ANY OTHER utility company apart from npower.

Friendly and well trained staff

The final bill was incorrect due to poor communication from the outgoing tenants. I called twice npower and the phone was answered in a timely manner (lovely surprise these days where sometime we wait 60 minutes for businesses to answer) and the 2 people who helped me were very friendly and helpful. I am waiting for the bill showing charges between tenancies but I have the confidence that I will receive it and it will be correct. Well done to the well trained people.

Something went wrong with gas meter yesterday (Sunday) afternoon, tried to report fault, NO emergency service from npower. Had to wait until Monday morning to report fault. Now got to wait another 3 hours.

Absolute disgrace of a company

After hundreds of problems within the first 6 months of being with npower, an engineer came and swapped my pre-payment meters for credit meters. He wrote down an incorrect final meter reading for my electric meter which was flagged by npower’s system as it would have cost me thousands of pounds for less than 1 month’s electricity usage. But they didn’t contact me, just didn’t send me my final bill. I had to keep contacting them to find out what was happening, even got cut off by their live chat team. Eventually I got through to someone who looked into it, explained and worked out an estimated read based on previous usage (plus a little bit more for safety) to use to close off my account. I then before Christmas finally received my final bill and a refund cheque for the credit on my account. Today I received a letter telling me I’m behind on my payments and owe them money for my final bill because they retrospectively decided to change the meter reading used for my final bill and didn’t even contact me to tell me there was a change, evidence or a new final bill to pay. This letter also told me it had been put on my credit file and threatened further action against me. For a bill I hadn’t even been told about and that shouldn’t have been changed! As this final bill was produced based on npower’s figures not mine, the change itself is absolutely unacceptable let alone what’s happened after.

Avoid this company at all costs, they will cause you no end of problems, never help you or rectify what they do wrong and act in ways that I am sure are illegal and will be looking further into.

Absolute cockwombles who need to be…

Absolute cockwombles who need to be completely dismembered!

Had a final bill from these people November 2019, my husband was out of work, and we were barely scraping by with our current bills. Npower were aware of all this. We were unable to make any payments up until our Uc advance had been paid off. We made one payment before our UC was cut by 1/3. Npower were informed of this and that we could only pay our current bills, and I would inform them as soon as the situation changed (this was mid COVID and lockdown!). September my husband got a new job and we were able to start paying down our debts (priority bills were already in arrears but we still paid some money to npower). I rang them to set up a payment plan now that we had consistent income and was told our minimum payment wasn’t good enough and we had to more than double what I had offered to clear it in their desired time frame. Still dealing with COVID and priority bills in arrears!

I emailed them informing them that we would pay the amount I previously offered on a monthly basis, and did so consistently for 3 months and will continue to do so. Just before Christmas 2020 I checked my credit file and they had defaulted the account with ZERO WARNING! I immediately emailed their complaints team, and have now had a letter that is quite frankly full of nonsense.

Since being taken over by e.on (the same people who overcharged us in 2016 and then got a CCJ without ever trying to contact us) npower has literally gone to the dogs. If the situation isn’t rectified then I see only one option and that is to pursue court proceedings against npower.

Oh and if you’re struggling to speak to someone with a brain cell it’s because e.on fired the entire npower customer service team and you’re actually dealing with the e.on drones.

Absolutely disgraceful. Shameful company!

I’ve just got off the phone to the NPower ‘complaint’ line. I spoke with an extremely ignorant, rude & impolite guy called Jason. Not sure what kind of training NPower provides for their complaints team but pretty certain Jason was off work that day! Never in my life have I dealt with such an inept, unhelpful and incompetent employee. Infuriating.
We moved into our new home a year ago. Meter readings were taken by us and the previous owner as is normal, and a new account was set up over the phone with the reading & my details.
After a week or so we decided to switch to a cheaper company which we did online with Uswitch. Again, a second meter reading was taken and both companies received them so the switch could go ahead. All was normal.
NPower contacted us to say a Final Bill will be arranged and sent out once the switch went through.
It took 2 months for them to do the final bill and another two months for them to take the payment... £275 for one months electric! annoying buy we paid and thought the account would be closed.
Oh how wrong we were. NPower keeps your account active for some reason, I presume so they can continue to squeeze money out of you in the future. Fast forward 9 months to Dec (a year after we moved in) and we receive another bill from NPower based on some estimated readings they have made up out of nowhere, demanding payment. What planet are these people on?
After contacting the complaints department this morning, I was told they had received NO readings from us when we moved in (we also have a Smart meter I might add) that’s why they had estimated?? I was also told that the new supplier had given them the readings too late so they had now adjusted the previous final bill.... disgraceful.
Jason was a absolute imbecile and had no interest in trying to resolve anything, we went round & round in circles for 20 minutes whilst he repeatedly refused to listen to anything I had to say. I asked to start the official complaints procedure, but he refused to do this unless I stated it was our new energy companies fault for the delayed readings... ??
All the while being rude, and obnoxious!
Feeling exasperated and irritated beyond belief I eventually asked to speak to someone (anyone!) but him, he would not pass me on, but instead he put the phone down!! What can I say, what a useless little twit!!!
Nothing is resolved unsurprisingly. Well done NPower you are a vile company and I will NEVER return to you even if your electric is Free!
Please take note, just look at the reviews already on here.... Go somewhere else people.... anywhere but here!

Npower to EON

I actually, or my mum never had a problem with npower. When my mum died in april they couldnt do enough to help me and set up a new account in my name. All was going swimmingly until the news of being transferred over to E.O.N. this is where the fun begins. Just recieved my bill from this new shower of scum. My bill cycle was due at the end of November so expected a bill way back then. No this shower (EON) have let it build up from the 22nd of august right up until today when ive received the bill. They then expect me to pay it within 7 days over Christmas. Yeah right. A complaint will be going to the ombudsman about EON but thanks npower for throwing me to the lions. Not happy

A hilarious excuse for a company

A hilarious excuse for a company. The incompetence is beyond comprehension. The complaints department is are all basic useless beings. After a long complaint, they agreed to refund me money to settle my complaint. Now they are demanding the money back as they made a mistake! Hilarious.

Should be Zero stars or preferably a minus score. In 2013 I closed my account and paid the final bill. Six months later NPower advised me they had made a mistake and I owed them approximately £100. I made a formal complaint. In the meantime I received nearly every day threatening letters from NPower. It was so bad I paid the (second) "final" bill to be rid of them. Six years on I am still receiving correspondence from them stating I am a priority customer! Do not touch this company with a barge pole.

Appalling customer service

I had a new gas smart meter installed, my boiler now shows low gas supply and stopped working with error 133, low supply . npower sent an engineer out who knows nothing about boilers and said boiler was faulty. I had to call a private engineer come and he said it was the supply. Npower said they would send another engineer but after waiting 5 hrs they had booked it to the wrong dept ! they would book it again and nobody turned up. Been without heat or hot water all weekend now. Shambles of a company .

Do not use this company - fraudsters

You should stay away from this company. They act fraudenlty as they have been and still doing so now. I moved into my rented house Christmas day 2017. Believe it or believe not they opened an account in September 2017 in my name when I wasn't living in Barnsley but in Watford then they charge me for electricity from that date. This house was put on the market for rent at end of October 2017. This bill is in dispute for them charging for electricity when I was not living here nor the house up for rent otherwise fraud. This bill has been in dispute since then. They have tried to send debt collectors but when I tell them what NPower has done they back away; but NPower still are charging me for visits from debt collects when there was non. I have asked them to take me to court but they won't. The bill stands at £2500 I am not going to pay it until the dispute is resolved and they refund me for the bill which is not mine and refund me the charges they should not have charged me. So do not go near this company as they work illegally and fraudenlty.

Awful, avoid at all costs

Approximately 15 incorrect bills.... Finally resolved via an over payment. Npower Issued a refund and closed the account.... only to later re calculate and instruct debt collectors after I had left the company as a fully paid up customer. I only discovered this when debt collection proceedings started in December. Paid again just to be rid of Npower. They issue little to no paperwork so you struggle to dispute anything. I will never use Npower again.

Worse Than Useless

If I could give minus 10 then I would without any hesitation.
Npower are the worst company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with.
I am a landlord and over the last 3 years I have had 2 different tenants.
Despite sending Npower photo evidence of the meter readings, the have sent out numerous final bills and even offered £30 because they were late in doing so. Only to have another final bill sent out this time for £189 less their £30 offer. None of which I owe.
I have had this 3 times with them now where they send out final bills only to have them amended to huge bills. I then have to troll through 3 years old emails finding photos of meters and correspondence with their complaint department to send to them again.
Today I arrived home to another Final Bill from
N Power to which I duly called them. I spoke to a very nice women who was very apologetic and could see where the error was but she would pass it on to their wait for it complaints department.
Mr Famme called me and I have to say I have never spoken to such a robot in my life. He was totally uninterested in actually doing any work to resolve their mistakes and kept on insisting it was I who had to provide the photo evidence to NPower despite telling him numerous time I had already sent this into NPower over the last 3 years. Obviously, he was not interested to even bother to check the address files where he could have seen past photos of the meters and final bills settled.
Mathematics was not his strong point at school obviously.
This guy really upset me with such arrogance and absolutely no customer care skills in any way.
Once this latest fiasco is resolved I will change provider and NEVER use N Power EVER AGAIN.

BE WARNED STAY WELL CLEAR
Shambles of a service provider just look at their reviews. The people have spoken.
