Never ever ever use this company

Never ever ever use this company. Been with them several years, paid by monthly DD, then got stung for back-dated bills due to meter not being read by them, turned out it was all on estimates. Left a fair sum to pay off just when I was tight for cash, finally agreed a monthly payment plan, ringing up to make the monthly payment. Then I got seriously ill this summer, several weeks hospitalisation and much morphine. I did manage to make some payments but got calls from Npower and each time I told them I was ill, in hospital, not in a state or place to talk. One of these I have since found out they recorded as ‘customer said she was busy’ (on drips in a hospital bed) though I’d have thought that, being over 60 years old and ill is something they should record, especially as they make a point of you to tell them this as part of their menu of options if you phone them. Got out of Hosp start of Oct, rang Npower but they needed a meter reading but the meter is upstairs and I told them I couldn’t get upstairs at that point due to illness. Went away to recuperate, came back to debt collectors text messages and a letter and a £14.72 charge for the privilege. Rang Npower again and supplied meter reading but was told I couldn’t reinstate monthly payment plan at the same phone call but would have to call back the following week. In that time got another debt collection text. Raised all this with Npower ‘customer services’ ( ha ha ha) this week when reinstating monthly payment plan. Found the amount I was required to pay had increased by 50% to something like £320 per month, though recorded usage over this year risen just £146 for the year. Also was told smart meter needed to be fitted in order to be allowed this payment plan - you can stick that one, sunshine I said, can’t even get a mobile signal in this house. Having read reviews of their smart meters I’m glad I stood my ground on that one.
Apparently it is their policy and therefore OK to ignore customers illness etc.
AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL.

14 NOV 20. Reply from Npower! Why would I want to contact them via Facebook or Twitter, are these sources of a different level of customer services compared to phoning!. Doubt it. Anyway, I have been already been told by customer services ( they actually rang me back!) that they raised their complaint with their Manager and there was nothing they could do for me and that their policy stood and because of that then a complaint to OFGEM would be unlikely to succeed, though they’d give me details for that if I wanted. This company is a JOKE.

Avoid at any cost

Not my supplier , but charged me for another 4 month (£65 monthly ) after I closed my account with them. When i noticed that NP still charging me it was impossible to contact them, after 2 weeks of emails and calls I had finally contacted customer service and they couldn't explain why it happened. I was told they will send refund . After 1 week , no refund yet.

0 STAR COMPANY SHOCKING

If I could give this company 0 stars I would. Absolutely atrocious. Left us during a pandemic and lockdown with two children under the age of 5 with no form of heating for 2 days now because apparently £30 is owed on the meter. Now out of sheer principle I will not pay this I DO NOT owe this, & I don’t know where this has come from. Contacted today to be informed there is nothing they can do. My children are suffering at the hands of this shambolic company. Absolute disgrace and the company as a whole should be ashamed of themselves!!!!

Npower worst energy company.

I've been in NPOWER for 6 years and they charged over price. We dont use much electric and gas because most of the time we are working and out of the house. But our bill is getting higher and higher. Thanks to AVRO energy a very good company and reasonable price.
When I check the NPOWER reviews in trustpilot I was shocked, If I know this before I will cancelled my subscription to them right away.
If you want to get rip off, use NPOWER.

Next installment of the npower saga

Next installment of the npower saga. I was sent my refund from npower after numerous contacts and 5 weeks of extremely frustrating conversations with advisers who don't give a rats, in the form of a cheque instead of directly into my bank. I put the cheque in the bank and went online to check my balance today. They have bounced their cheque. I called and got another adviser who after making patronising comments, said 'you know what' and then put the phone down on me. I called again and spent 31 mins explaining everything again to someone else. Watch this space... They have taken the credit off my account though. The adviser actually asked if there was any way she could change my mind about leaving npower....I'm surprised I was so polite!

Disgraceful

If I could select zero star I would.

Greedy energy giant. Three years of inconsistent billing. Three years of multiple envelopes arriving (at the same time) with varying amounts.

Terrible service.

Should not be allowed to trade.

If I could score less for this company…

If I could score less for this company I would, changed a direct debit by an additional £150 without informing me, claiming I owed it for 2 years despite getting a refund 4 months previously. The Customer Service was awful, not the agents but the company does not give the right tools for the agents to give responses, asking basic questions and they could not give me answers. I am delighted to have finally left them. They quoted me 3 different figures of what I owed, each agent gave me different information, with no clear indication exactly how much I owed at anyone point. It was just horrific.

Terrible company now!

Terrible company now. Very overpriced. Disorganised. Customer service is very patronisining sometimes, especially if you are trying to make ends meet and are struggling with Npowers over-inflated prices. Theres a lot of us out there at the moment who are in a tough position financially, but you wont get any help or support from this company. Everything is as clear as mud on my Npower app. If I phone to speak to a customer service advisor, the information they have about my energy account is always different to the information on my app. Nothing is transparent, and its been like that for a few years now. I have been an Npower customer for 10+ years, but have now switched. Why would anyone want to pay more money for electricity? It is what it is. Electricity is just that...Electricity. It cant be better or worse. But what you get at Npower is a much lesser service? No thanks. Switch to an online service. Save yourself as much money as you can.

Absolutely hopeless

Absolutely hopeless. Trying to call them to let them know I am moving house but no answer after 1 hour of hanging on. Shall just cancel the direct debit when I move! Made a mistake entering my reading on the app...you can’t change it here, luckily I could change it on the website. No reminders sent to ask for readings either so you can go all year and then be in for a bid shock! Shall move back to Ovo when I move, I highly recommend them.

they calculate numbers out of thin air .
I don't know how to get out of this scam .

Complete scam

Complete scam. Would give negative stars if possible. Lived in a two bedroom flat since last August, which was empty Mon-Thurs, and yet npower still billed us £97 a month...
Moving out of the property after paying over the odds on a monthly basis to begin with, we were hit with two additional bills of £770 covering a period of 4 months. We were 2 people living in a flat, when one is a key worker and not in the house during the day. Absurd to say the least. Some customer service agents say that it is indeed ridiculous, then some have enforced us to pay. Absolute scam, and wouldn't believe a single thing they say. DO NOT GET INVOLVED.
