I recently had an unfortunate experience with NU Car Rental, and I feel compelled to share my concerns and disappointment. My reservation was made through Rentalcars.com, and the associated transaction with NU Car Rental occurred on September 9, 2023, with a total amount of $181.13.
On the day of my scheduled arrival in Las Vegas, September 27, 2023, my flight encountered an unavoidable delay, causing me to reach the airport an hour later than planned. Unfortunately, upon my arrival at the NU Car Rental location, I was met with a closed facility, preventing me from picking up the car I had reserved.
Despite my best efforts to communicate my situation to NU Car Rental in advance, my calls went unanswered. I took proactive measures to inform them of the flight delay and its implications on my ability to adhere to the scheduled pick-up time. Regrettably, my attempts at communication proved unproductive, and I have attached relevant pages from my phone call history for your reference.
What troubles me the most is the lack of flexibility and understanding on the part of NU Car Rental. I understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, and flight delays are beyond a customer's control. The closure of the rental car facility at 6:00 PM raises questions about the accessibility and convenience for customers who may encounter unexpected delays.
Despite my efforts to resolve the issue, The car rental company refuse to refund or making any adjustment. This leaves me deeply disappointed, as I made every attempt to navigate the situation and fulfill my reservation. I want to emphasize that the circumstances were beyond my control, and I believe NU Car Rental could have handled the situation with more understanding and customer-centric policies.

This is the first and last time I rent a car from NU. I rented online and fully paid. I told specifically to the saleslady that I DON'T WANT ANY OTHER CHARGES added to my bill when she asked me to initial all charges to DECLINE SERVICES. All were declined EXCEPT ONE question between them to ask you get GLASS & TIRE PROTECTION. Make sure to cancel that charge unless you want to be charged.

Whatever you do, NEVER use NU Car Rental. They are absolute crooks. It was an off airport office so I had to drop off my rental before my flight and walk over to the airport. I filled up the car on the way to drop off and dropped the car as instructed even though the office was closed before 8pm. There was no one around to check in the vehicle. A couple days later I was charged $126. When I questioned it, I was told that I returned the car empty which of course was false. Of course I disputed it first with them and then with my bank but they outright lied and somehow I’m stuck paying this exorbitant fee. Stay very clear of this crooked scam company.

Absolutely terrible experience with NU Car Rental. I wouldn't even give them one star if I could. They are masters at the art of deception. I reserved a standard car online, but when I got to the desk, they tried to pressure me into an expensive upgrade that I clearly declined. However, that didn't stop them from sliding an agreement in front of me, making it seem like I had no choice but to sign for the upgrade.
Their tactics are nothing short of unethical. They prey on unsuspecting customers, luring them in with affordable prices and then forcing them into unwanted upgrades. It's a classic bait-and-switch, and it's infuriating.
The customer service was beyond disappointing. The staff was rude and dismissive when I tried to explain that I had declined the upgrade. They clearly have no respect for their customers' preferences or rights.
I strongly advise anyone considering renting from NU Car Rental to steer clear. Save yourself the headache, frustration, and extra expenses. There are plenty of other rental companies out there that will treat you with respect and honesty. NU Car Rental is a prime example of a company that cares more about ripping off their customers than providing quality service.

WORSE RENTAL COMPANY I HAVE EVER SEEN!
As you’ll know from their google reviews, they’ll charge you anyhow on top of what you paid, if you’re going with NU because of low price, they’ll make sure you will pay more than what you would get at any other rental places! They’ll ask you to sign at multiple screens and you won’t even know what they’ll charge until 2 days after drop off and you won’t be able to do anything as you signed their agreement which is again 50 pages and they won’t let you read as store is busy!
AVOID THIS PLACE AT ANY TIME!

Price was great, cars were great, pick-up and drop-off was super easy, the staff was excellent. My experience was great except for one thing, which was my mistake. I mistakenly put 3am for drop-off instead of 3pm. So I had to add another day on the spot and the charge for this was high, but that is not unusual. You'll never get the same discount at that point. I read some reviews who said they were charged for insurance when they didn't ask for it. They print out an invoice right there in the office and hand it to you. Please read this to avoid surprises. When I went to the car it only had 3/8 of a tank of gas. I returned to the office and they marked the invoice to show that as well as the online invoice. No worries. I was very happy overall.

We rented our car from nu car rental and the first thing they suggested we do is to cancel the insurance from Priceline and use theirs. The price was more than the price of the car rental. I got a bad feeling how high pressure the sales were. I was told if there was any damage the cost would be charged to my credit card on file, and it was up to me to get reimbursed. If I used there's It would be handled. I considered cancelling the whole thing and going elsewhere. At this point I felt they were a bit shady, and they might "find" damage. I elected to continue and just pay the insurance. Worst case I pay a little more for the insurance. Worst Worst case they find damage and my card gets charged.
I paid for a higher end dodge charger. They did not have one in stock. According to them They gave me what Priceline sent to them. Somehow Priceline sent told us one thing and sent them something else. I suspect they did a bait and switch.
Fortunately, everything went OK, but they do not tell you the final bill when you turn the car in. I did not get the bill until I was home. When I got my bill, I was charged an airport transfer fee of 20.00. Anyone who takes a shuttle for car transportation from an airport does not expect to get charged. I took the Car rental shuttle to the car rental place and then took the nu car shuttle that drove across the street. I was charged 20 to drive across the street.
I would not use this place ever again. I think they advertise low prices and charge a lot of fees, that you find out about when you are gone. The sad part is you agree to them all when you initial everything. I would suggest if you used them in Las Vegas get the charges fully explained and be prepared to walk across the street to the rest of the car rental places.

I went with NU car for the price THEN read the reviews and thought OMG.
BUT.
Dec 27th Las Vegas, flight 2 hrs delayed, in and at the NU car location in Vegas, no problem with getting the car, nice new and clean Chev mid size. Counter person was excellent, courteous and my rental details as on Expedia were correct. In and out with keys in 10 min.
Had the car until Jan 6, retuned to same lot across the street form the Vegas rental.
Again, quick drop off, no muss no fuss, easy , smooth and nice counter service staff.
received final invoice via email, it was exactly as i booked and paid for, no issues, no surprises.
MY experience and price was excellent and will check with them again.
I had almost just booked with another car rental due the reviews, glad I didn't.

This company has awful customer service. When I booked my rental car through Hotels.com, I was re-directed to a 3rd party site, Car Trawler. I booked the car in my husbands name and used my credit card to pay for the car (like I have done countless other times with several other car rental companies). When we arrived at the Las Vegas NU car rental desk, I was shocked at the condition of the building. It was filthy and falling apart. The agents present seemed miserable and were extremely rude. We stood in line for over an hour. Then, they refused to release the car I had paid for because my husband had a debit card, not a credit card. They refused to accept a debit card for the security deposit. They also refused to help me rebook in my name (since I had a Credit Card in my name) and I was treated very rudely and poorly since I booked with a third party company. They left me completely stranded on Thanksgiving day. I had a road trip planned, with hotels already booked and paid for and I desperately needed a car. After a couple emails with Car Trawler "customer support", they refused to refund any of my money. Credit cards and debit cards are basically used interchangeably. We have used a debit card to rent cars from at least 3 other companies this year. Lesson learned: Do not book with NU Rentals, and do not book rentals using a 3rd party site.
1.18.23 Update:
The rental was pre-paid through CarTrawler with a credit card under the name of JL. The reservation was made with the main driver as ML. When we attempted to get the car, NU refused to release the car because the main driver (ML) had a debit card. JL was present with the credit card that was used to pre-pay this reservation, but NU refused to let us use that card or change the driver over to JL. The agent was very rude and refused to do anything at all to help. She told us to contact CarTrawler to get our money back, but CarTrawler is refusing to refund our money.

Nice people but stay away from this company is a mess they have no idea what they are doing and it will take up hours of your life!! Not worth it at any price!! 2 stars would have given 1 but for the people who work there!

I did an online rental through CarTrawler. I paid in advance with my debit card. When I went to pick up the rental, the rep asked for my credit card. I thought it was just a formality. The rep never asked me if I wanted rental car insurance. I confirmed I had rental car insurance with my provider prior to going on vacation in Vegas. I told the rep I had already paid for my rental. Why was she giving me another charge? She informed me that if I had paid online, the CC would cover the 300 hold only. Nu Car ended up charging me more for the insurance 115.50 than they did for the rental for 4 days, $109. Please be aware if you use this company. Also, my vehicle kept sounding like it was going to cut off. Who would agree to pay more for rental car insurance than they would for their rental car?

Reply from NU Car Rentals - Las Vegas
The price is right car renter everything is excellent minus some wait time & answering phones. The cars are good, reliable and get you to your destination with great fuel economy.

The customer service reps were courteous and friendly. The car was clean and the ease of securing the rental was easy.

Rented through here at the Las Vegas location for the first time about a month ago, will never rent from them again (confirmation # 6640793794NU). We were charged an extra $200 after our original charge through hotwire. After calling the help center, the lady said the extra charge was for insurance. I told her we did not ask for insurance and she said that it was signed for. This is inaccurate though, the lady who told us to sign stated that we were agreeing to forgo the insurance. I don't know if she clicked the wrong button or what, but we explicitly stated no insurance, and even reiterated it to the woman. It is clear that they use this tactic to scam more money out of people, and there is nothing I can do to refute it because it's our word against theirs. I should have read the reviews beforehand to know that this is a scam company.

This was my first time to rent a car from NU thru hotwire, but it was a very painful experience, and obsoletely I'll try not to rent a car again from this company.
They did not maintain the cars appropriately and it will potentially post great risk to the customers. We picked up the car on May 16 after noon, and planed to drive the car to Arches national park. When we were driving on the road next day (May 17), the low tire pressure signal was on (tire pressure reads 29 psi). We spent some time and and finally found a gas station to pump the air to the required PSI (35), and reported the this incident to their customer support at the evening. However what we were told was since we did not purchase the additional glass and tire protection plan, so we need to take the responsibility for the tire. I asked them why should we take the consequence for your bad tires, but their support kept saying we did not buy additional protection plan, bra. bra... However on the next day (May 18), the low tire pressure signal was on again, so this mean that the tire had some issue. We had to changed our travel plan to find a tire service company first to fix the tires. The tire service company called NU car rental and explained the tire issues and NU Car rental agreed to change the two front tires! Due to this incident, we had to change our travel plan and wasted a whole day to get tires fixed. So after the trip, We requested a refund for one day since we were not able to use the car. I believe my request was reasonable, but their answer was no. This is unfair for us to take consequence of their bad car condition. They should maintain their car in a good condition before they rent it out. It is NU car rental company's responsibility to provide a car in a sound and safety condition. We were luck not to have an accident with a flat tire, but this situation should not happen at first place!

Upon arriving in Las Vegas May 9 I we went to pick up our rental car from Nu that we had reserved through Hotwire. I checked in with the clerk at the counter and was told that Nu had booked my reservation in my boyfriends name and not mine. I explained to them that the booking had been made and paid for in my name and only the email had been sent to my boyfriends email. They then asked my boyfriend for a valid credit card which he gave them and they refused it. I explained that the reservation had already been paid in full by me. I was never given a valid reason why that wasn’t enough nor why my boyfriends credit card had been refused by them. They then told me that I would have to book a new reservation by them and it would cost double the amount that I had already paid!!! It was pretty apparent to me that Nu car rental had no intention of honouring my reservation and found ways to sabotage it so they could try and gouge me for more money!!! I then had to spend several minutes on the phone with Hotwire to rectify the situation and in the end all they could do was refund me my money. So I had no vehicle for my family vacation in Las Vegas!!! Totally ruined our trip!!! Will never be returning to Las Vegas nor will I ever rent a vehicle from this shady business again!!!

I rented a car from Nu Car rental in Las Vegas reservation #LAS-182930. After doing my own video walkthrough of the dirty and smelly (smoking smell) vehicle I was given I returned to the office to let the rental agent know about the condition of the vehicle he told me he would note my findings on my rental contract which of course he never did. When I returned the vehicle I wasn’t given a receipt and to my dismay a emailed receipt was emailed to me a few hours later with a 250.00 smoking fee. I didn’t smoke in the vehicle and have a video where I also mentioned the smell of smoke. I have tried to dispute the charges to no avail. I used this company before and had no issues but they refuse to return my calls and e-mails concerning this matter. I am going to report them to the Better Business Bureau, and I’ll never use this scam if a rental car company again.
