We were given a Dodge Durango in Miami on June 13, instead of “full size” SUV we booked and paid for. It claimed it would be a Ford Expedition or Jeep Wagoneer or similar. They had no other choice f... See more

Extreme value with some aggravation
I have rented from NU three times and will be renting from them again at MCO. I give four stars because of the extreme value and I am frugal. Their rental cars can be $400-$800 less than the major companies. For this extreme value, I am willing to put up with some aggravation. Here's how to avoid it: 1. expect a wait of 30 minutes or more for the shuttle 2. bring a printed copy of proof of your car insurance coverage or have it ready to pull up on your phone when you get to the counter 3. Say no to the toll pass and then stay off the toll roads - this can be challenging but I've never had an unexpected toll fee 4. Say no to additional insurance if you don't need it - check your credit cards for primary (not secondary) liability coverage - AMEX gold has it and others. 5. expect a high deposit can't remember how much but in the hundreds 6. take your time to carefully inspect the car and report any damage. We have had no issues with NU and no ridiculously long counter waits. I have had longer counter waits when paying 4x as much.
I was forced to buy more insurance when…
I was forced to buy more insurance when I already purchased it and full coverage was not allowed to leave. Cost me an extra $300 on my trip. I could not leave because of how large my party was and no other car rentals around.
I wouldn't give any stars
I wouldn't give any stars. They have hidden fees. We paid with a credit card and when we returned the rental they stated because we paid with a debit card we ae going to charged. We have the paperwork that we paid with a credit card. They didn't understand that part.
Well.....over a month later we received a charge of over $500. This is definitely will be going to BBB.
Whatever you see for a price on a vehicle, its TOO good to be true. You will end up paying over what you could be renting from any other rental place.
Despite sending my insurance info over…
Despite sending my insurance info over 3 weeks in advance, I was told at the counter that it wasn’t accepted and my rental would cost double the amount quoted. The people behind me in line had the same experience and decided to go back to the airport to another rental agency. Unfortunately, my schedule didn’t allow for that especially since I had to wait at the rental office for an hour while the attendant had gone outside. Also, be careful to check the pick up time stated on the paperwork. Your rental is not for 24 hours from when you get your car, it’s from the reservation time. I did reach out to the company about these issues. I received no response from the local operator. I reached out to their corporate office and after 3 weeks the local operator finally responded to them. No refund, no apology, nothing. If you don’t care about the cost, I had a nice car but I could have gotten that at the airport instead of going offsite and having delays and a bad experience.
$309 Charged Despite Same-Day Cancellation
I booked a rental through Priceline and, after reading reviews about other customers' experiences, I became concerned about potential issues and decided to cancel the reservation the very same day I made it.
I never picked up the vehicle, never signed a rental agreement, and never used any services. Despite canceling almost immediately after booking, I later learned that the reservation was completely non-refundable and the entire $309.48 charge was kept.
I understand that these were the terms of the booking, but I was surprised that there was absolutely no grace period, no partial refund, and no consideration for a reservation that was canceled the same day it was made and never used.
My advice to anyone considering an Express Deal rental is to read every detail of the cancellation policy before booking. If you change your mind even a few hours later, you may lose the entire amount.
I can't believe these crooks are still…
I can't believe these crooks are still in business. AVOID THESE PEOPLE. HORRIBLE!!
Cannot reschedule if something goes wrong
Quickly after I booked my trip, my flight was moved up so I needed to reschedule my reservation to reflect the new change. I emailed them back when that was a thing you could do and they said I could not request if the trip was more than two weeks out (my trip was still a good 3 or so months out I would think the earlier you request the better). So I waited until two weeks out and I tried calling since I could no longer send a new email. They hung up on me after 10 minutes on hold so I responded to the old email instead. FOUR DAYS LATER, they said there are no earlier slots available (I WONDER WHY) and mistyped my information and request like they did not even know what my reservation was. Can't get a refund and can't even cancel on expedia. This company is a joke.
Don’t rent a car from this place
Don’t rent a car from this place. They charge me 678 in fees…. I’m disputing the charges but they are thieves and liars… stay away!!!🤥
SCAM ALERT
SCAM ALERT – DO NOT USE PLANETRENTAL OR NU CAR RENTALS IN MOROCCO
ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE – COMPLETE AND UTTER SCAM
I booked a car through PlanetRental with NU Car Rentals in Morocco. When I arrived – IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WITH A SMALL CHILD – the deposit price had SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASED from what was originally agreed.
On top of that, the deposit WOULD NOT even go through. I was then told I had to pay an EXTRA €155 – ON TOP OF THE FULL HIRE COST I HAD ALREADY PAID.
THIS IS A TEXTBOOK BAIT-AND-SWITCH SCAM.
They left us with NO WHERE TO GO, in the middle of the night, with a child, knowing full well we had no choice but to pay or be stranded. They are NOT interested in service – only EXTRACTING MONEY.
IF YOU CANNOT HONOUR YOUR OWN PRICES, DO NOT LIST YOURSELF AS A PROVIDER. PERIOD.
DO NOT BOOK WITH PLANETRENTAL OR NU CAR RENTALS IN MOROCCO UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF, STRANDED, AND HUMILIATED.
I’m sharing this to warn others – PLEASE STAY AWAY AND SAVE YOUR FAMILY FROM THIS ORDEAL.
AVOID. AVOID. AVOID.
Why is it required to give them even…
Why is it required to give them even one star when it was the worst experience ever. Once you travel all the way across the United States and get to pick up the rental car. They stick you in a room with a monitor. No real human. Then they tell you they want a thousand dollar cash deposit after the rental is already paid for on a Credit Card. If that isn’t already horrific then they hold your money for five to ten days while they make capital gains off your money that they literally robbed from you. Never again. Worst scam ever.
Never rent from this company we booked…
Never rent from this company we booked it through our Travel portal through Capital one credit card. It ended up costing us twice as much as quoted. We got a flat tire and we're told that we were on our own at our own expense.
Never Again
A $100 reservation turned into an $800 bill with an unreal amount of non disclosed nonsense. Never again
Refund granted
My husband made a car reservation with Nu Car Rentals through Expedia and did not realize it was non- refundable and could not be cancelled. We realized almost immediately that he had made a mistake and we do not need this reservation. After several email to customer service we were granted a refund less a 10% service fee. We appreciated that they made an exception and grated the refund.
N U stands for NEVER "UGH"GAIN
N U stands for NEVER "UGH"GAIN. Terrible experience. Would never recommend this company to anyone.
Great experience!
I read all the bad reviews, but took the chance anyway. I'm VERY happy I did! They were fast, friendly and I got exactly what wanted at less than half the cost of the other rental agencies. The shuttle from the airport to the rental desk was quick. I didn't spend more than 5 minutes waiting. I will definately be using them again.
Forced additional charges and zero customer service
My experience was extremely disappointing and felt highly deceptive.
When I arrived at Bucharest Airport (at 4:00am) to collect a vehicle I had already booked and prepaid for, I was told that unless I purchased their overpriced insurance, I would not receive the car — despite already having valid independent coverage.
Given the circumstances and lack of any realistic alternative at that time, I was effectively pressured into paying an unnecessary additional charge.
This felt like a deliberate tactic: attract customers with low advertised prices via 3rd party platfrom and then force extra payments at pickup.
To make matters worse, the vehicle provided did not properly match the category presented during booking.
After the rental, I contacted the company directly to raise this issue and request an explanation. As of now, I have not received any response whatsoever.
The combination of misleading practices and complete lack of accountability says everything about this company’s standards.
I strongly advise travelers to avoid this company. What appears to be a good deal may end up costing far more than expected.
Ripoff Rental company
My reservation price was 253.74 and I ended up paying 483.15. Strong arm sales for uneeded insurance that I was told was not covered by my AMEX Reserve and or my Auto Insurance. This location is very far from the terminal, so not really able to cancel and change. There are other charges for Cust Facility/ Trip. Overall a total rip off compared to legacy car rental companies. I would avoid this place and will never consider it again.
different place different service
different place different service, maybe treat we like good or bad
If I could give it a 0
If I could give it a 0, I would. This place (Ft. Lauderdale) is the stuff of vacation nightmares. The rental came with the airline reservation. NEVER AGAIN will I use any online ticket service EVER because of this NU rental car experience. The "manager" actually spoke to waiting customers from a semi open bathroom door WHILE HE WAS USING IT. The whole experience was surreal and bizarre. It would have made more sense if the cars were boosted. They charged me $500 for a $96 online confirmation code. Then he told me it was my fault for making the reservation and not reading the subsequent emails that exist somewhere, just not in my email. A property manager in the slums of Mumbai has better people skills than this guy. Run far away from any NU Car Rental and get an Uber.
I found what I thought was a great deal…
I found what I thought was a great deal on a rental car. It was literally less than 1/4 the cost of most others. Our plan was to pick up the rental in Denver, drive to Mount Rushmore in South Dakota, then return to Denver 5 days later. When I got to the nu car rental counter, the agent (terrible interpersonal skills, zero stars out of five) told me they couldn’t rent the car to me because they only allow their vehicle to travel into neighboring states only. I won’t be using nu car rentals again.
