Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 88 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers reported receiving unexpected and high parking charges, often £100 or more, even after believing they had complied with rules or paid. Reviewers frequently encountered issues with payment systems, such as machines not working, taking duplicate payments, or failing to provide receipts. Many people also highlighted confusing or inadequate signage, leading to misunderstandings about parking requirements and charges. The customer service and appeal processes were widely criticized, with people finding them unhelpful, incompetent, and unresponsive to evidence. However, some customers also noted that even with vouchers for free parking or confirmed payments, they still received fines. Additionally, a few reviewers mentioned that fines quickly escalated to debt recovery agencies, making the situation more stressful.

Just received a fine through the post....for parking infront of a payment machine. They had photos, all around my car & there used to be yellow lines, to state no parking, but only a tiny bit of the lines were visible, and not all of the, which I didn't see at the time, as they were at the back curb. Zero stars!! This company is absolutely disgusting.....at least Robin Hood wore a mask!!!!! 🤬

Horrible company who disregards factual evidence

Horrible company, I was working at the peel centre in Stockport and have done for a while and one day I got a fine through the post so I appealed it and they asked me for proof I worked there so I sent all the details they asked for including images of my car reg being put on the system with confirmation..... I got a letter saying appeal has been rejected and with which was obvious an automated letter, never looked into the information I had sent them snd disregarded it, so basically doesn't matter if you appeal it they push it aside and just send an automated letter out.
All the proof was there that I did not have to pay and then following week I get a debt recovery letter from Trace debt recovery, I have told them am not paying anything and at this moment in time it is going to court. They are a nasty two face company who disregard factual evidence that shows you can park where you have even when they ask for proof. If you ever go to a carpark and its Ocean Parking that deal with it be very careful

The Tap Kendal

Newly installed when I was caught. I was talking to friends rather than observing their signs on lampposts. No one at the bar mentioned the requirements for submitting car registration so a couple of drinks cost £100 extra. Won’t be going there again!

Absolutely disgusting!

Absolutely disgusting!! Parked at Milton Keynes parking. Stayed there for 3 hours or so. When we came back and went to the machine to add hours pressing + and - sign buttons.
After 2 hours the next number was 16!!! What a scam!! I had to pay £6.50 for 3 hours.
Never using it again. Absolutely awful 👎🏼

Worse than any other company I know.

This company exists only to pile misery on to the general public. I did mention in one of my letters to them that there are far more rewarding ways of earning a living. Can you imagine going to a social gathering and saying "I work for Ocean Parking". The shame would be unimaginable. To most people.
Stars? None, but then you don't offer that as an option.
Don't park at Milton Keynes shopping centre is my advice. There are more welcoming shopping centres in the country but while MK farms out part of their car park to these shysters it is best avoided.

If there was a zero stars I would have…

If there was a zero stars I would have put that. Called in to Towyn and parked on Knightlys on our way home from a lovely few days in Conwy. Where we had no problems paying for our car parking. We have in all our years in driving ever failed to pay car park charges. At Knightlys we tried to pay at machine but couldn't pay by card. My husband went across to one of the shops to buy something to get change. In the meantime I was trying to pay online. Finally managed to get to pay online but husband was back at machine and paid for our 1 hour parking there. We have now been fined for overstaying. Apparantely we went in at 1059 and came out at 1211. We appealed but it was rejected. Now, we could appeal higher but if we do we will not get the reduced rate of £60 so have given in.
Just be aware and know they take your time there from when you enter. Not when you park or buy your ticket.

If you see Ocean Parking anywhere near…

If you see Ocean Parking anywhere near a car park I strongly recommend you avoid it like the plague. Unclear signage and contradictory rules abound. I got caught out by the option to park for free if you register your vehicle at the Customer Tablet at the entrance of the M&S Food Hall. After using the tablet to the best of my ability (l’d been stung before) and confirming my car on the system (it shows you a picture of your vehicle). I was met with a fine for £100. It took them a week to view my another to throw it out with no option to follow up with a human being. Utter ghouls!

You'll struggle to find a more pointless company

Disappointing, but hardly surprising given the complete non-value company that Ocean Parking is. Whoever reads this, just know your current role in your career is utterly useless and you're better than this. You've generally a limited amount of time on earth and you're spending it doing this nonsense.

I'm going to begrudgingly pay the £60 fine because you're a private company and any review of an appeal will which result in the independent body referring to your rules and upholding your charge. I know how the system works and it's not impartial at all.

You have an appeals email address which isn't actually for appeals as your response is to uphold the fines anyway - so really I assume you only have this mailbox for legal reasons. Out of curiosity, on what grounds is an appeal even successful? Because all you're going to do is quote your rules and uphold them regardless.

I imagine the most common mistakes for appeal are;

1) Picking the wrong car if you have more than 1 in the app
2) Picking the wrong car park
3) Exceeding the time you paid for

In my particular case all I did was choose the wrong car park on the Ringgo app, as evidenced. I picked the correct car & arrived and left in the paid time, just for another nearby car park in Stockport which I've never been to before.

I honestly can't believe that your company is so grim that they're going after drivers mistakes like this but offer a 'discounted' extortionate rate of £60. It really puts a huge dent in most people's budget.

As per your records, this is also my first 'mistake' with any car parks managed by your lot.

Your company's goal & aim is to wait for mistakes before they 'go for the kill' and issue economy boosting shoppers with heavy parking fines, which detracts from the money available to improve the economy.

The most ridiculous part of all this is that I actually paid for the parking - so I still paid your company the correct amount. It's amazes me that you cannot simply acknowledge that and write off the fine given it's a simple admin error.

I'm not going to expect any response but I'm going to find some decision making level staff at your company and send this complaint to them to make them aware that the appeals mailbox is being used in this way.

I also won't expect any response from them either but at least I've said what I've said to them instead of the abyss of the appeals mailbox.

I will never shop at this place again

I don't need to repeat what hundreds of people already mentioned. I will never shop at this place again, and I hope many people will do the same. Hopefully then shop owners will do something about these criminals. The town should have already done something?

ANPR CATCHES THE UNWARY MOTORIST

The open air car park at the Pavilion, Abbey Road, Llangollen was run by Denbighshire C.C. until May 2025 but is now managed by Ocean Parking. Previously it was possible to wait on the car park for a short period without charge but when I visited I received a PCN for £100 for 20 minutes unpaid waiting. I think that the warning signs are too easy to miss !

Zero stars. Thieves

Zero stars. Fined my disabled mother who had her badge on display (and always does). She called and they said the colleague assumed the badge wasn’t hers and she was using it fraudulently and that he didn’t approach because “they are worried about abuse”… from a lone, small 62 year old disabled woman? Behave! Even if it was on a day that her mobility wasn’t too bad, not all disabilities are visible! They also only sent my mother 2 photos of the back of her car, while stating they do also have a picture of the front of the car in which her badge is clearly visible. Why are they withholding that picture? Shady company. Clearly targeting vulnerable people. I plan to approach the worker with many questions when I see him!

Absolute scammers!

Disgraceful company, literally stealing money from people. Parked at the Centre MK, went straight to the machine and paid £10.50 for four hours. The machine did not dispense a ticket but a message on the machine informed me that payment had been received. Returned to the car well within the four hours, only to recieve a £100 penalty two weeks later.

Went through the appeal process and sent screenshots of the payment from my banking app. Appeal was flat out rejected, saying that they had no records of my vehicle’s reg being entered.

Literally every review on here is 1-star, which should tell you everything you need to know. If you see a car park operated by Ocean Parking - AVOID. Let’s but these scam artists out of business!

inhuman idea company

If there is a company that deliberately steals from people, it is called Ocean Parking. A fine of £100 for spending 5 minutes delivering to customers in the very building they claim to provide services to. It is simply stupid to make a deal with a company that seems more like a diabolical pact.

Absolute crooks!

Absolute crooks!! Sent my partner a £100 parking fine for a car we had sold months before to a salvage person. Even though we explained to them that the car was sold and there had been a issue/delay with the DVLA transferring ownership, sent proof from DVLA and also proof we weren't even in this country at time of offence (on holiday!), they ignored this and within weeks had passed the debt to a collection agency! NOW £170!!! Disgusting company who will do anything to get money from you!

This company deliberately send their PCN to your home late and they will make sure you will fail to get your discount rate for paying the PCN once you receive your PCN letter. The IPC also useless and they will support all the claim from operator even though you provide everything you were out of town when this operator sent you the PCN.

Inconsiderate humans

I’m writing this review as I am appalled at Ocean parking.

I have just finished chemotherapy and am taking cancer medication that requires me to have no control of my bowels.
I pulled up in a bay and displayed my disability badge and explained to the parking attendant I was in desperate need of the toilet.
He became very argumentative and stated that he didn’t care what I needed.
I left my car and proceeded to the toilet, obviously returning back to my car with a note on saying I would be fined.
I have contacted Ocean parking to appeal this ticket due to my condition and they have not granted this.
So now having to appeal again to the IAS.
Absolutely disgusting behaviour from you Ocean parking.
I hope you never have to encounter what I’m going through you inconsiderate humans.
