Had some ordering kinks but got the phone and I'm using it to text this in Switzerland.

I was hoping to get the phone just a little sooner, and also, I tried ordering it for two days and kept getting an error message so the buying experience had some kinks to deal with. This is, however, my second phone from OneSimCard and like the service very much.

Not User Friendly and hard to get help

First, the initial set-up was very confusing for someone who is not at all "techie." In addition, when I finally got hold of someone from tech support, I was told that there was no way to test my phone while I was still in the US and that I would have to wait until I got to Ireland.

My worst fears were realized in not having things worked out ahead of time because when I arrived in Ireland my phone would not send or receive calls or texts. I tried to reach tech support 5 different times, but just got placed on hold. Being with a large tour group, I did not have the time to wait on hold for a long time.

So I went 5 days of my 10-day vacation without the use of a phone. Finally, by multiple attempts at various solutions on my own, I stumbled on typing the "00" before the 1+ when I dialed. The tech support agent I had spoken with before I left had told me to just make sure I dialed the 1+. Such a simple fix...sure wish I would have known.

I would not recommend this card to others unless they were very tech savvy. It is not for someone like me who doesn't really understand how these things work, and the help is not readily available.

Roaming international SIM cards can be tricky and we are always happy to help and take our time to explain things in full detail. We would like to explain in further detail how your expectations weren't met properly if that will help:

1) You were hoping to try the SIM before you left but you couldn't place calls from/to the SIM card while in the USA. This is true. The "big 3" cellular networks in the USA (AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon) have "sunsetted" their 2G and 3G networks over the last year or so. Cellular voice used to be carried on these networks, but now voice is being broadcast using "VoLTE" (Voice over LTE) which uses the 4G network for voice. Our roaming service does not have the ability to use VoLTE and for this reason, voice will not work in the USA. We were very happy to see you used voice with no issue while you were abroad, just as our Customer Service agent indicated. 2) We are so very sorry that you also had difficulty understanding how to make an international call. Any time you call an international number from any cell phone you should always use either "00" or the "+" sign before the number you are calling. This is true using any SIM card, or any service. For example if you want to call a friend of your in England from your USA cell phone, you would dial 0044, or +44 and then the rest of the #. The reason why 44 is this is the country code for the UK. In your example, to dial back to the USA from Ireland, you would dial 001 or +1 and then the rest of the number because the country code for the USA is 1. We not certain what the Customer Service agent told you because this was over the phone and not a support ticket with exact documentation. We train our agents to tell customers about the + or 00 when they are asked. Is it possible they told you to use the +1 but you assumed they mean 1+? In any circumstance, we are very sorry for the confusion and we are making doubly certain we are clear in our instructions to our customers

The bank SMS text verify has worked quite well the last year or so. I saw the message the company wrote back to a previous customer, in early June 2023, saying the service is down and they are working on it. Here now on June 26 can that same employee provide an update regarding the SMs bank/PEN situation for existing customers? Thank you.

We investigated your specific issue with voice service not operating in the USA. When we looked at your account detail, data and SMS was working fine all along and, based on your tickets with customer service, this was only an issue where the Voice service didn't meet your expectations.

This is a problem, not with our service, but with how the major USA networks "sunsetted" their 2G and 3G networks over the last year or so which used to broadcast voice. These networks (AT&T, T-Mobile, & Verizon) now use what's called VoLTE (Voice over LTE) to broadcast voice. Our roaming SIM isn't capable of using VoLTE. Our work-around is to use our 1SIM VoIP App, which we suggested on the trouble tickets, and actually lowers the cost of making calls vs. using traditional roaming Voice calls. Service Down: Incompetent Response (No Response)

Poor Service

Poor Service

As much as I would like OneSim to work, the fact is that it is a failed operation. I am abroad and needed a number for my bank to contact me. I found OneSim and had to sign up for an annual subscription (already a telling indicator that I had to sign up for 12 months as a minimum). The service is unreliable and when I contacted customer representatives, they told me that they knew that there was an issue but were unable to provide any repair date. Overall, this feels like a scam.

Only you may have the answer

I was given instructions on how to test my sim using more than one unlocked phone. They never resolved the problem of finding the cause of no signal. I had to speculate that I had a damaged sim and ordered a new one. They said I could transfer the balance from the old sim to the new one.

Love OneSIM

Gotta be honest I’m surprised to see low reviews here. OneSimCard has been a great solution for me. It took ages to find a carrier that offers PEN numbers, which are necessary for 2 factor authentication with banking services. As an expat with assets in the states, this is an invaluable service.

Calls and texts are reasonably priced especially with the VoIP app. You have to buy more minutes for an annual “recharge.” That means I have an ever growing pile of minutes for what essentially is an annual service fee. It makes me stay in closer touch with my family overseas.

The customer support is top notch. Every time I’ve had an issue, support resolved it quickly and gives me plenty of status updates. They’re super friendly and easy to get in touch with. I can reach a human straight away instead of going through several levels of chat bots. I’ve been repeatedly impressed with their service and responsiveness.

I would (and regularly do) recommend this service.

Basic service didn't work at all.

Bought this when I was in Colombia. It never worked. I received one SMS message once from a Colombian number, and that was it. Couldn't received phone calls nor SMS messages from apps for verification. So the basic service didn't work. For it to work with my bank they wanted another $70 per month, and I wasn't going to give them any more $ if the basic service didn't work. Total waste of time and money. When I told them for the second time of the problem they told me I'd have to fund the account again to test it. Nope. What they should have done is fund it themselves enough to test it and make it work. Poor customer service, like so many companies they just don't care.

Total rip off of a company

Total rip off of a company. Rip you off on internet, move numbers on your account then say you did. Have guidlines and dont follow them. Avoid.

UPDATE below you can see they tried to blackmail me to remove this review before they'd escalate my issue...

In reference to your replies below-

The first ticket was opened as your underhanded wording of the way the card works uses your credit on the number as well as the purchased data package. That was closed as even though it is a poor and underhanded way of doing things that’s the product.

2- as you can clearly see in the ticket I pointed out that it was a system error that put the credit on the wrong number and I contacted your service center straight away. They blamed me and wanted to charge me for your systems error. During that conversation I’d decided that I’d had enough being treated so poorly by what clearly is an unethical company and posted a review. The agent obviously got a notification of the review and told me to take it down otherwise he wouldn’t help me. I have screen shots of the conversation but unfortunately I can’t post them here on trust pilot but I did over numerous other product review websites.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry that you had such a frustrating time with our service. In our investigation we only see 2 tickets created for Support and do not see any "Blackmail" from our agents.

Looking at the tickets that are in the system, we only saw that your questions were answered professionally and promptly. One ticket was from a chat session where you used up your data package and that triggers per MB usage (at a higher effective per MB rate) if there are still funds available on the SIM or automatic recharges. We are sorry that you didn't understand this, but this can't be refunded since cannot control if you are using data. We do have controls available on our site to avoid additional charges and use of data, but you didn't deploy these measures.

The other ticket was your asking for a refund for a service that you bought by accident (seemingly) and that was promptly refunded.

Again, we are very sorry you had such a negative experience. but we cannot understand this "blackmail" you refer to and seem to suggest is included here? Please provide more information so we can investigate further.

UPDATE: Thank you for providing more information. The information you provided does not match your account information or any tickets where "blackmail" was made. We cannot investigate this further without this information.
