Do not use OpenTable! Book with the restaurant direct. OpenTable charge £20 per person, if you give less than 48 hours notice of a cancellation!

Pls avoid use this company

Pls avoid use this company. They will no service you, just keep ask you for monthly £170/month and £2/customer. And they will blackmail you. I had paid nearly 2000, but I have no customer at all for many months. Definitely wasted time and money. Be careful this company. They will keep ask your money, but no time to help you get customers. If I have 10 people like contact, I will definitely go to court to get my money back. Cheat many restaurants owner. Be careful go use the open table. They keep push me for money. Very bad experience.

Opentable used to be so good

Opentable used to be so good. However now it is difficult to sign in. I do not clear cookies but every time I have to jump through several hoops just to sign in! They ask for reviews once I have been to the restaurant, but again make me go through several stages just to log in so I don't bother. What happened to the Open Table of old!

failure of Open Table's Booking System

In December '23 I booked a table at Restaurant 17 in Durham, UK for Tues 7th May '24 for 6 people at 1930 hours. Three hours before the reservation time on the 7th May I received a text cancelling the booking. I was unable to contact the restaurant by phone and there was no prompt response to text or email. It was with some difficulty that I found a suitable booking elsewhere. I later received a text from the restaurant apologising for the inconvenience and stating that they do not open on Tuesdays and that Open Table should never have made that booking. Our experience exposes a serious flaw in Open table's booking system.

overall bad service

Booked with open table for four at Hardrock cafe for my birthday, sat down and the cutlery had big greasy finger marks on it, I was instantly angry as it is not a cheap place to eat, the service was slow two of us got drinks and two of us were left waiting, had to move starter plates onto the next table when finished with because no one else was moving them, been there twice before and it was good but this time was bad and I would definitely not recommend as a special occasion as my birthday meal was ruined!!

Manipulating Customers Bookings

I am so sick of this website because if you go onto London restaurant you find that the bookings are available between about 12 noon and then the next one they show you is 21-30 I’ve lost count of the times that I have directly called, or walked into the restaurant to make a booking for 8 pm (20.00} I’ve been told that’s fine yet nothing in these time frames is available on OpenTable

This website constantly forces customers to take times that are not appropriate, and this is a deliberate policy by the website

I have given up using this ridiculous website to make bookings and I would suggest everybody either rings the restaurant directly or walks in a couple of hours before you want the table

Reservation didn’t exist

Open table confirmed a reservation at a restaurant and when we got there there was no record of our booking. The restaurant was able to accommodate us but I’ve got no faith that a booking made via open table will actually be made. Then I got a no show for the reservation which I did attend but which apparently didn’t exist. It’s also impossible to contact a person to complain.

I would leave zero star if I could.

I would leave zero star if I could.
Our evening out was ruined. When we arrived at The Abbey Pub, Woodseats Sheffield. We were told they were not serving food. When I asked why we had not been notified they said they were unable to contact any customers who had booked through open table.
Totaly ruined our evening.
Open table is not fit for purpose and The The Abbey Pub shouldn't be using a booking service like this.

Disgusting customer service STAY AWAY FROM OPEN TABLE

Disgusting customer service. Awful company. If there was zero star I would use it to rate the company.
I’ve had issues since I joined the company. Over changing everytime. Reported the issue several times but nothing was done. Then I made a complain regarding the issue. At the same time I’ve changed company and called them to inform that my company status has now change and we can’t trade under the old company and the contract has to end. The lady over the phone went through the whole process of cancellation and told me I had to give a month notice which I did and she sorted everything out over the phone. The following day i received a call from the complaint department regarding the complaint I made for the overcharging and i agreed to the amount that was going to be credited back to me. At no point the customer service staff mentioned about cancellation as her first word to me was regarding the complaint.
I got my last bill and the amount wasn’t credited to me. I then contacted her to tell her it’s my last bill as the contract has been cancelled. She then proceed to say it’s not as my last bill and the contract hasn’t been called. I explain to her that I spoke to her colleague regarding the cancellation. As her colleague never left any note and To cover colleagues she went on tell me indirectly that am a liar. Though I told her the date and name to the person I spoke to. She then went on telling that I never mention the cancellation to her on the phone. But she never mention it either. As when she called all she said was it’s regarding the complaint. She was contradicting herself backwards and forward. It’s too long and boring to carry on.
Do not use open table
They are a rip off and customer service are the worst one. There are better companies to use than open table.
STAY AWAY FROM THEM

Absolutely crap! Then redeemed!

3 times i have tried contacting OpenTable. I'm in urgent need of assistance. I updated my email address to my new work email address on my account and I accidentally put a full stop in between my initial and surname ......as the email address does not exist, I cannot verify it! There is supposed to be an option to verify by phone but there isn't!! I have sent an email via the app on Monday asking to be contacted urgently and when no-one did on Tuesday I spoke to a lady called Maria who works on the customer service team for Restaurants who said she would pass it to the Diner's support team but I've heard nothing! It's disgusting that you cannot speak to anyone and only have a bot that you end up going round in circles with! I have been a member since they were Toptable in 2006/7 and expect a vastly better service than that!!

Update: a week later (and an email to the CEO) and thank goodness I've finally had some assistance to correct my email address without losing anything.....it can be done after all, yay! Thanks to Kori for the help, absolute diamond!

OpenTable used to be my go-to

OpenTable used to be my go-to, but it's become very challenging lately. The choice of restaurants isn't good anymore - most of the ones we like are now on Tock or some other system, and they've now made a change away from dining cheques to Amazon gift cards. I refuse to use Amazon due to the way they treat their suppliers and employees, so the rewards are now useless for me. I'll be leaving OpenTable after many years. Why do companies change things that are working??

I booked a table directly

I booked a table directly with the restaurant a couple of weeks ago for lunch tomorrow. Today I receive a text from Open table requesting a reply ‘1’ to confirm booking or something else to delete booking. How did they get in on my direct booking? So, I confirmed my booking directly with the restaurant and deleted Open Table message and reported it as junk,

Eye-watering prices for utterly ordinary food

We had a dinner with friends at Nomad in Bow Street, London. I searched in vain for any sign of crab in my crab linguine, as did my friend, but there wasn’t a scrap. And it cost £38! My husband’s chicken liver paté could have been from Tesco, but ten times the price. His main course was a scrappy piece of pork. We complained vigorously, but to no avail. There was no apology, and no reduction in the bill. Never again. A total rip-off.

HORRIBLE! Could be passing our card details to restaurants!

When we came to restaurant, staff couldnt find our booking. There were empty tables, so managed to have our dinner. 2 days after my card was charged for no show! Unbelievable. When I contacted them, they said to reach out to restaurant. But resto do not have my card details (as we paid w diff card). Only OT has my card deets when I entered for card check! So does that mean they are passing our card details to restaurants???

The company is rude to talk to and too quick to finish the call and not solve the problem they quick to take your money and say there’s no booking has been made when the restaurant has confirmed that the booking has been made on there end but on there end they can’t see anything when you wanna ask a question

If I could rate minus I would.

If I could rate minus I would.

I have booked a restaurant for my daughter's birthday, I have the confirmation email to prove it which shows the correct date and time.
However, I wanted to add another person so I went via the modify link in the confirmation email and once logged in it shows my reservation as a completely different date! Now I'm stressing as neither OpenTable or the restaurant will reply to me, nor can I call them at all as there are no numbers and the OpenTable one doesn't work.
It's my daughter's 18th birthday and all I need to know is whether my reservation still stands but nobody will help us, I'm so upset.
AVOID!!!!

Opentable are a rude

Opentable are a rude, patronising "service" - which unfortunately many decent restaurants (for some reason) use when they would be better off using their own in house booking systems. I cannot believe how arrogant and intrusive they are. My advice would be , never book a restaurant using this particular service if you can possibly find another way to do so!

Booked lunch at a restaurant for 12.30 BUT

Booked lunch at a restaurant for 12.30 today on the OpenTable website.
Arrived at 12.25 to find restaurant closed. And, to be fair to the restaurant there was a notice on the door saying they were shut for two weeks.
My wife and I had a wasted journey. I think OpenTable should compensate me for this but there does not seem to be a contact number on their site.
