Do not use OpenTable! Book with the restaurant direct. OpenTable charge £20 per person, if you give less than 48 hours notice of a cancellation!

Useless
Absolutely impossible to limit your search to a certain area. I choose area in their filter yet restaurants far away show up in the search. Only reason to use them if you know the restaurant, and the restaurant takes you to OpenTable. Otherwise useless
Received a text messopen table scam age to say confirm…
Received a text message to say confirm booking of restaurant through open table. When I was about to reply !! It costs money which I found strange. I decided to ring the restaurant I booked and speake about confirmation, they informed me they would never send a text for a charge for confirmation. Turns out its open table trying to make money out of people. Absolute scammers
Open Table used to be great
Open Table used to be great, but now I’m really disappointed with the Resturant’s it has available. It also just seems to want to promote restaurants miles from where you want to go. Several times I’ve been told by OT that nothing is available, but if you go to the restaurant directly, there’s plenty.
Spammers
I booked a restaurant, checked that I didn’t want mail but kept getting lots of spam from OpenTable. Forced to block them as they make it really difficult to unsubscribe.
If you see a restaurant that uses this service, phone your booking through instead and tell the restaurant how irritating OpenTable are
Premium phone charge to confirm your booking
They text you a reminder the day before demanding yo reply "1" to confirm you will show up. This reply is charged at a premium rate because it is not a uk phone number (It is 67368). OpenTable unapologetic and insist that it is your mobile company not them that charges the premium rate. Do not understand that demanding a reply on a premium line without warning you is sloppy at best and potentially criminal.
Pointless service if it lets you book a closed restaurant
Booked dinner at a restaurant (Seeracha in Eastbourne). Received an email from Open Table confirming it. We turned up to find the restaurant “Closed until further notice”! What is the point of an online restaurant booking system if it allows you to book a restaurant that has apparently closed down? Sought to give feedback on opentable but couldn’t find a way to do so (other than a chatbot *rolls eyes*).
It simply never works
It simply never works. ‘Uh ok. We ran into a problem.’ It the most annoying load of b*llocks. Why do restaurants use it - they must lose a lot of custom.
Robot is useless and just goes round in…
Robot is useless and just goes round in circles. I can't remember my password so ask for an email to reset it. The email never comes. Tried three times, checked spam, etc. Who do I speak to to sort this? Nobody, just a robot.
We had a disappointing dinner at…
We had a disappointing dinner at Mucci's on 23 May - the music was very loud when we arrived and we asked to sit at a quieter table but were told they were reserved but they obviously weren't. Cheapest wine was £40 a bottle, food pretty good but expensive. Not particularly friendly staff and when it came to paying the bill I discovered a £1.90 cover charge pp and the card reader gave you the option of adding different percentage tip even though the bill already included the 12.5% service charge. Not good
Exceptionally bad customer services and a Postage Scheme that always fails to deliver
Exceptionally bad customer service and Posting scheme that always fails to deliver Dining Cheques!!! I have been waiting for my dining cheques for many, many months... constant delays and rubbish Posting scheme!!! Despite many complaints and undelivered Dining Cheques, OpenTable does not seem to be bothered to change their Posting scheme to Recorded Postage in order to guarantee delivery. I wonder why they do not wish to change their delivery scheme... it would seem that OpenTable do not wish customers to receive their well earned Dining Cheques!! Appalling service, I ended up logging a Formal Complaint !!!!
Disgusting
Disgusting! Arrived at a restaurant (The Beefy Boys - Shrewsbury) without booking to enquire about any availability. I was told there was no immediate availability but they would take my number and call me ASAP if a table became available. Sure enough, 5 minutes later a table was available and I was alerted via text. This text was charged at 15p. This was never communicated to me and il never use any restaurant that uses OpenTable ever again.
Totally and utterly rubbish!!
Totally and utterly rubbish!!! Booked for last night but no place at the restaurant.... They knew the site would have moved it forward to Tuesday which was their next availabllity. Confirmation email did say that but I hadn't noticed as was late at night when I booked. On a previous occasion OT booked me into a closed restaurant when lockdown was still partially operating. It's just a rubbish website ran by robots I imagine!
Annoying booking site
I am single and fancied a meal out at my favourite restaurant on my own. The site accepted my input of 1 person then when submitted told me that my party was too small. So why offer it as an option! Will always call the restaurant in future.
Bookings for different people - useless with Opentable
I book tables for various people in my team at work. Whichever name I put in, it only ever comes back with a reservation for the same person in my team. This has been happening for a year. The restaurants say it is a fault that will be fixed eventually but it never is.
My colleague can't even book on Opentable. there is a constant fault. she has to use the app which uses her personal details.
The most frustrating thing is that restaurants 'force' you to book online with Opentable these days. Totally rubbish. And very frustrating.
Dining cheque takes 8-12 weeks to be sent, which is very slow
I requested a dining cheque in early March and it used to take a couple of weeks to get it. Yesterday, I was told by a customer service person that it would take 3-5 weeks but then we got cut off. Today, another customer service person said it is 8-12 weeks now as the cheques are processed in the US and sent from there.
None of this information is on their website (or it is very hard to find as I tried and could not find it).
On the bright side, the mobile app's customer support is very good. There is no live chat on the website so that app is better for that.
The booking experience was good. Cannot correct app email.
The booking experience through OpenTable was perfect. I then decided to create an account via the app. Regretfully, I mistyped my email address by 0ne character and cannot amend it. No telephone contact, only via chatbot or by email which is pointless as the email doesn’t work. I’ll just delete the app as I can’t correct the email address which is a shame because the booking process via OpenTable was good and I would have used them again.
As others have said DO NOT USE THIS…
As others have said DO NOT USE THIS APP. The breach of their security is well documented and yet phising still goes on from fraudsters. Like others, got a call, supposedly from the restaurant, with all the details of my booking, and wanted me to pay a deposit. Called restaurant direct who confirmed it was not them calling. They said a lot of their customers had received similar calls. How can they allow this breach to carry on so long after being reported?
Incorrect location information
It's not rocket science to display the correct location of a subscriber/client. Once again, I decline to book in my home town to a continuing inaccuracie. I have on more than one occasion mentioned this to the business in question. They always agree and say they will change or cease to use Open Table, months and months later nothing changes. #poorcustomerservice #poorcustomercare lack of integrity of both parties.
Please do not download this app
Please do not download this app. Fraudsters used my card details to take 2 large amounts of money from my account. Received a phonecall supposedly from the hotel restaurant requesting deposit 1 hour before the meal requesting my card details.
Please do not use this app!!
Booked a table at a restaurant in…
Booked a table at a restaurant in Henley where I live, received a phone call a week later claiming to be from the restaurant and C asking me to confirm my booking and pay a deposit, you guessed it , asked for my card details, if you read previous reviews this happens frequently, Opentable obviously is not a secure platform, and there booking are being hacked or stolen and used for fraud. How on earth are they allowing this to go on for so long!!
