ME
DO NOT APPLY!
They are stealing application fees. Me and my roommate submitted the proper stubs for the past 60 days and they said we were denied but couldn’t get out money back. Then they said we aren’t denied, but cannot be approved, which to me is a denial, right? Anyways, I requested a refund and they hung up on me. Making a complaint to BBB. It’s a shame your own black people out here robbing other black people during a pandemic, it’s sickening.

Pangea is stealing application fees! I had a virtual viewing for an apartment, and I like the apartment. I explained to the realtor that my credit isn’t that good but Me and my girlfriend make more than enough to pay for rent! She said thats perfect so we paid a 50 dollar fee for the application. we was denied and They didn’t even tell us why! When I called I was told that they can’t tell me why I was denied! So basically they scammed us out of 50 dollars!!
I should of known to stay away from this company from reading reviews! First off my virtual showing was cancelled they call early that morning to tell me to check me email for a video. I proceed to apply for an apartment paying $25 for application fee. I get a call the next day saying that my identification is expired.I explained In Illinois all ID expiration dates have been extended thru November 1, 2020 amid the pandemic . Mind you they are not doing showings amid the pandemic but expect me to stand in line for hours to get my ID renewed although state laws say it’s not necessary! Then, on their website it clearly states that for proof of income provide 60 days of check stubs or 90 days of bank statements! I provided check stubs then I get a call saying I need bank statements or to go to currency exchange and ask for receipts and I request a refund for my $25 dollars since they are not processing my application but they refuse saying that it is being processed but I was told that it couldn’t be processed with expired ID or without bank statements. I will definitely be making a complaint with BBB!

Pangea is HORRIBLE!!! If I could take away that star, I would. I don't recommend anyone to move into a pangea building. The apartments are nice, but the minute you move in, things begin to go wrong. They have a roach infestation, if something is broken, you have to put in a maintenance request, and they don't respond right away. they may take months to fix it. The front service door and the back gate are always broken, oh and let me not forget that if something breaks/stops working, and you call it in..You're told that you may have to come out of pocket to pay for something that you didn't cause. The pictures that they post are false advertisements because these units look nothing like the photos. Normally you'd think that the building managers would make sure that they're traps put down for the rats, but no the rats run freely all through the day and night. This company needs to be shut down, or taken over by people who really care about their properties. If anyone is thinking about moving in to a pangea complex, think twice before you sign that lease.

There Has Been Problem After Problem With My Apartment Since I First Moved In. First And Foremost, My Apartment Floods From My Bathroom To My Living Room Which Leaves A Sewage/Mildew Scent Throughout My Home And Makes Me Dizzy/Sick/Nauseated Which Is Terrible Because I Already Have Underlying Health Conditions. I Had To Leave My Home Where I Pay My Rent And Bills FAITHFULLY Every Month And Go Stay With My Sister For A While To Avoid Passing Out From Being Sick From That Sewage. Then There’s Absolutely No Heating Or Cooling System In This Apartment, So In The Summer Time ITS EXTREMELY HOT, And In The Winter Time IT’S EXTREMELY COLD. And To Make Matters Worse, I Have To Pay For Heat! Then There’s Only One Vent In My Home (Located In My Bedroom) There’s NOT ONE Vent In My Kitchen, My Living Room, Or My Bathroom. So In The Winter Time I’m Confined To My Bedroom All Day Unless I Wanna Freeze To Death. The Hot Water Only Stays Hot For About 8 Minutes At The Most, So If You’re A Woman Who Love To Take Long Hot Baths Like Me, It’s Definitely A No For This Apartment! I Definitely Wouldn’t Recommend Pangea To ANYONE!!! They Are Slum Lords And Rip Offs!!! This Is My Very First Apartment And It’s Taught Me Exactly What I Do/Don’t Want Within A Home. I HATE IT HERE !!!

I'm a recent college grad and have been searching for apartments. Pangea is BY FAR the MOST unprofessional real estate agency I have encountered. They scheduled a showing the day before IL went on lockdown, I contacted them a day before to CONFIRM the showing(considering the lockdown) and they CONFIRMED the showing. Upon arriving to the property, I call every number I had on pangea, only to hear a machine tell me they are closed due to COVID19 lockdown. I don't live in Chicago, so I had to drive 2 and a half hours to view the apartment. I wasn't leaving until I spoke with someone. I eventially traveled to their office and they had a note on the door with a number to call. I finally spoke to someone and she told me ALL showings has been canceled, but I was NEVER contacted. The woman informed me that I would be locked to the apartment when the lockdown was over. I emailed them several times during the lockdown and NO ONE ever reached out. Today, I log into my pangea account and my application has been canceled. I was told that I must complete the application AGAIN. Although it was pangea's fault to begin with. Pangea does not care about their tenants/potential tenants. I should have believed this when I arrived at the property and spoke to tenants who told me pangea was terrible. I dont want to give them my money anyways. I will definately find another agency to lease with because pangea is the WORST. Not only did they waste my time making me travel all the way to Chicago, but now they have canceled my application and want me to pay the application fee again. Unbelievable.
The fact that Pangea is completely DISREGARDING the fact that they scheduled a showing with me in March and didn’t show up is shocking. As I stated, I confirmed the showing the day before. And the next day I showed up to view the apartment MYSELF and Pangea’s offices were closed. Only after I sat outside waiting, wasting my time and I called multiple numbers, I finally talked to someone, then they informed that the showing was cancelled due to COVID-19. But no one contacted me or anything so I drove two hours to Chicago for nothing. The lady I spoke with said when the airs time stuff was over, I would be locked to that apartment. So I thought I would be contacted after COVID stuff. Then I log in multiple times during quarantine and my application was good. Now I log in recently and my application is canceled. So I called Pangea and they said they couldn’t help me and that I would have to pay another application fee. Everything that happened was out of my control with COVID so I don’t understand how they could do a potential tenant like that.

They are honestly a bunch of crooks. Nowhere on their website does it say you have to earn 2.5x the cost of the apartment. Had that been expressed on the website I wouldn't have wasted my time or money on the application fee. Filled out the app on the 5 received a call on the 8th and was told once the application was done they would call. Here it is the 18th, I had to call them just for them to tell me you don't qualify bc the only job I have 60days worth of paystubs for doesn't equal to 2.5x the rent. Even though the one job would more then cover rent and any other fees.

I applied for and apartment with Pangea. I was pre approved. Then I receive and email from Pangea stating we are waiting for a background check. Background check came back fine. Then I received a call from Pangea office asking me to summit my bank statements or currency exchange receipt showing proof of income. I sent my statements off. 3 days later receive a decline letter. In the letter it stated several reason why the application was decline. I called the office no one was able to tell me exactly what the main reason for the decline application. So you take $25 dollars of hard earn money to decline the application. Can you imagine how many application get decline daily. This is horrible. Pangea helping the community. I wish I could give them zero stars...

I have been in the PF Townhomes for almost a year now but about 4 months into my lease I lost my job and couldn’t pay rent. I attempted to work with the property manager while requesting assistance from outside agencies only to receive an unprofessional email less than 4 hours before the end of a business day from the regional manager to inform me I would be evicted if I didn’t pay that day. The organization sent the check directly to Pangea and it was in their possession before the actual eviction proceedings were filed, they held the money and took me to court anyway.
I agreed to a payment plan because I was starting a new job which could “get me back on track”.
I have been paying my rent and the payment plan plus the “hidden” late fee assessed since my rent is technically late since it does not remain a zero balance monthly.
This collaboration of company names
Pangea Real Estate, Pangea Ventures, Pangea Properties, and Pangea Equity Partners has a history so they claim as a benevolent intervention company and “helping in a tough situation because a financial crisis hit you really hard” or they want you to believe they bought and rehabbed properties in your neighborhoods to improve the area.
It is so far from the TRUTH!! They prey on individuals emotions, finances and sometimes safety. Even at the end of a dialogue with a CS representative they say “Thank you for being a valued Pangea resident” Where is the value in their interactions?? Where is their compassion, while there are residents who abuse the system, there are forthcoming residents who just need their understanding.
Do your homework before renting from this management company and don’t be tricked by the first impression because it doesn’t last.

These people do not care one bit. We found an apartment that we felt would work. Sent in the $ for application fee. They dragged their feet. Then said they needed more proof of income. I immediately sent then the information requested. That was a Friday. I waited until Monday. Still no word. I contacted them again. Yes they had the info and I was approved, but it would be a day or so until it was final??? Three days later I am told that, "yes you are all ready to get your apartment." Except the apartment you applied for has now been rented. But, we have another one just like it. We will set up a virtual tour for you. We wait for the tour. I have to call because the tour has not started. I am now informed that that apartment has someone living in it and it is in fact not available. "But, we do have a couple other ones that are smaller and cost more." What a scam. Out application fee and no apartment.

The space of the apartment is great. Maintenance come on time when needed. But the mice is a problem! I have put in 4 work orders my apartment is clean and they can’t seem to get it together. I ask pest control but my request was never given. Just a few guys with steel wool and glue traps.

I went to view a 2 bedroom apartment at 4953 S Prarie. The apartment the leasing agent showed me was a 1 bedroom that was advertised as a 2 bedroom apartment. The apartment looked nothing like the pictures they advertised on the website. The hardwood floors was painted this awful black color. The carpet on the stairs going up into the apartment was filthy. My first experience with Pangea was not very good. I have an appointment to see another apartment at 7400 S Rhodes and I hope I have a better experience. I hope the pictures of the apartment on their website match the apartment I'm going to see.

I needed an address in Wayne Township to enroll my kid in school, and didn’t want to pay a lot in rent. That’s the reason I moved here. I could say a lot of negative things about people working in the office, maintenance, etc. But at the end of the day, you get what you pay for.
