Good Afternoon Mr Langton,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and I am sorry you are not happy about your renewal price.

There are many rating factors taken into consideration when it comes to renewal. The individual claim conditions and amount are taken into consideration however the main factors underwriters use in setting premiums are; the pets age, breed and gender. Your address is also a factor. Some postal codes are rated higher than others for two main reasons:
· There may be a higher concentration of claims in some areas.
· Costs of vet fees can also vary across the country.
· The cost of vet fees is taken into consideration as well as the number of claims in that area. Most premiums have also increased over the last few years because technology in veterinary treatment has advanced, so conditions are costing more to treat.

I can see you have been contacted with regards to this query, thank you for taking your time to provide us with your feedback.

Kind regards,

Prices are reasonable considering my dog's age and history.
Claims are easy to make with the online pre-populated form. Payouts have always been prompt and as expected - ie less excess less 15% because of age.
No problems with on-going claims, because I have a whole of life policy.
Customer services very efficient as dealing with queries and address changes.

Premium has been increasing in amount…

Premium has been increasing in amount by a large % each year. Way more than inflation and more than any other type of insurance that I hold.
Because my senior dog is on a lifetime cover and has arthritis, I now cannot go elsewhere. Feel like Paws and Claws are aware of that and will continue to hike up the price.
When I got my second dog 2 years ago I steered well clear of Paws and Claws and would not recommend this company. Great for those who don't need to make a claim but after all that is what we have insurance for.
My dog had a 'continuous claim' for her arthritis for which she was receiving hydrotherapy treatment. The vet had agreed to that treatment at the beginning and signed the relevant form. However, every time I put in a hydrotherapy claim I had to send it to the vet to sign off again - WHY? A continuous claim surely means the treatment recommended at the beginning will continue for an indefinite period of time. In the case of arthritis, it won't just go away! I have now moved locations so no hydrotherapy nearby so no more claims for this - yet still got a massive premium increase.
Not happy and will never use again for any future pet that I have.

Your policy is a 12 month contract so you do have the rights to cancel at anytime. The policy is reviewed each year at your renewal, we do provide you with the best possible prices for the level of cover you have. However if you did want to make amendments and change your level of cover this is something we do offer with in your renewal period.

With regards to the continuation claims you have to sign a claim form each time as you signing it means you are agreeing as to what the vets are claiming for. This is to protect you as a customer so that the vets cannot submit claims on your behalf without your permission. Each time you claim your vets will send us an itemised invoice and the clinical notes for the time that they have seen your pet which is used when assessing the claims against the amount on the invoices.

If you do have any queries or wanted to discuss this further please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards,

Would not recommend.

Considering that the monthly payments have increased by more then half, knowing full well I cannot get insurance elsewhere because of pre-existing conditions......I am NOT inclined to recommend this insurance company! Being held hostage!

EDIT:
The reply below are all excuses and sound like a fob off! Of course they are all taken into consideration but to more then DOUBLE the costs is still outrageous and doing it when you know a client cannot move on due to pre-existing conditions and is disgusting. I am now stuck with this company and have no choice but to pay so to send me a link on reviewing them made me laugh!

Premium hike for older dog

My dog is now 10 but luckily has no on-going illnesses. I don’t recall having had to make a claim. She is microchipped and neutered and receives annual vaccinations which I pay for and is booked to have scale and polish dental care which I must pay for.
Why has my premium increased by 21% this year?

We do try and offer you the cheapest premiums for your level of cover based on the different rating factors however if you do give us a call with in your renewal period we will always look to see if there is anything further we can do about the price.

With regards to the microchip, neutering and preventative scale and polish this is something that is elective and is under your exclusions of the policy which is agreed at point of sale so we will not cover this.

If you do have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Been with Paws and Claws for a while…

Been with Paws and Claws for a while now, insurance is great when you don't need to claim!
Dog was extremely ill and required emergency vet, about £180 all together.
After excess, 15% charge for age of dog and out of hours deduction I will be refunded the princely sum of £1.66p for my near £70 a month premium.
Disgusting company that if I could cancel now I would. I will certainly not be renewing and advising many of my animal loving friends to avoid like the plague.
Cute name for a company that rips off its customers.

Dear Mr Neal,

Thank you for taking the time to review our service, we're sorry to hear that you are disappointed in your claim settlement.

Your excess is payable per condition, per policy period, meaning that should your dog need any further treatment for this condition in this policy year, your excess would not be payable again. The 15% co-payment is applicable in respect of pets aged 8 years or over. Both of these are detailed within your policy schedule.

The out-of-hours fee was deducted due to the pet's medical condition not being classed as not life threatening, however if you or your vets would like to discuss this decision with us, don't hesitate to contact us.

We take all feedback on board, and we hope we can grow your confidence in us in the future.

Kind regards

Wasn't happy when my dog had a large lipoma in another area and because it's the same condition wouldn't pay. So if you have cancer in your toe then again in your spine you wouldn't pay out. That's not fair yet my policy went up in price but I feel I can't go elsewhere as my dog is over 10 now

Dear Miss Booley,

Thank you for taking the time to review our service.

Our policies do not cover for pre-existing conditions unfortunately, which means that any conditions that were present prior to your policy being taken out would not be covered. I do understand the condition flared up on a different part of your pet's body but the diagnosis was the same hence why your claim was declined.

We hope we can leave you more satisfied with ourselves in the future.
