Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the customer service, finding it difficult to contact and often receiving unhelpful responses from staff. Customers frequently encountered issues with their points not being added correctly, and found the retail offers to be limited or irrelevant to their needs. Some people were dissatisfied with the product offerings, noting that many promotions focused on junk food rather than daily essentials. However, a few other people also felt that the company showed willingness to fix faulty situations, and some even had positive experiences with specific customer service representatives who were patient and helpful.

"Customer Service" is non-existent…

"Customer Service" is a non-existent entity operated out of some distant backwater. Got a World Elite card, and have never received the 45X/$1 spent at Shoppers Drug - just 30X points. Despite several lies (that's all they do) to the effect that the problem will be fixed, it never has been. Almost impossible to contact them anyway - the whole idiot chat bot thing is a total mess, obviously designed simply to make customers go away. Loblaws should be ashamed of this POS operation.

After reading everyone else’s reviews

After reading everyone else’s review, I just have to say that I’m so disgusted with the horrible way we have all been treated. I can’t even find a head office to write a complaint letter to. I stopped shopping at any of their stores. Bless you all for sharing your experiences. Good luck to all of us.

30,000 points

On July 13, 2025 I decided to purchase a $100 gift from Shoppers Drug Mart because of the inside offer of 30,000 points when spending $75 or more in-store. The store I visited that day had some technical issues and I could only pay cash. However the PC Optimum system was also down, therefore I could not redeem the digital offer I had within my PC Optimum app. It was a bit complicated and had to insist on getting in touch with their customer service, but it did pay off. Had I simply chosen to get frustrated and give up, I would become one of the resentful customers who would leave an angry one star review. But I understand that every system glitches sometimes, and this situation was really no one's fault. I truly appreciate David who took my call, because he was very patient with me and told me precisely what to do. He kept his promise also and sent me the email that I needed in order to prove my purchase and the offer, consequently prove that I was missing 30,000 points. In less than 48 hours I received another email from Joy Pauline letting me know that my points are added to my PC Optimum app and I can redeem $30. It is true that sometimes things are not going as expected, but I appreciate that there is always willingness to fix what is faulty, and for that I give five stars to PC Optimum. We must judge in righteousness, the way we want to be judged.

The worst

The worst. You don't always get the points even when you load the offers and buy the item. Missing points inquiries are a waste of time

PC Optimum call and call centre has shameful service.

I called PC optimum to get assistance with my online PC Optimum account, and after navigating their menu structure for 4 minutes (way too many options), I waited for 25 minutes for an agent, only to be told they were experiencing technical issues and cannot help me. I managed a call centre in a past life and know that they could have and should have given me that info up front, saving me roughly 28 minutes. Additionally, their first message said they were very busy, but that was before I went through the menu so they did not know why I was calling - how did they know they were busy for my type of call. AND, if they could not help anyone online, why were they so busy? All calls would have been 1 minute or less. This simply means that they are not staffing sufficiently as I've received this very busy message on every call for the past 2 weeks (I've had to call 3-4 times). Shameful to say you are associated with this call centre!

DoorDash Bonus points scam

DoorDash has recently begun giving PC Optimum points. After linking my optimum account with DoorDash, they offered 5000 points with my first DoorDash purchase over $20. I placed an order and got regular points but no bonus points. PC Optimum says to go through Doordash customer service and I e contacted them three times. After more than an hour on chat the first time, I was told I’d be contacted in 24-72 hours. Four days later, I’ve again contacted them and was told I’d get my points within 48 hours. Three days later, still no points. I was told they’d get back to me within three days. No call back and still no points. It’s obvious they have no intention of issuing the points but just want to wear me out until I give up.

PC Optimum a Lousy Loyalty Program

I have shopped at Loblaw-affiliated stores for a very long time. Over the last 5 years, we have shopped almost exclusively at local Zehrs or No Frills. I think I have redeemed points once for say $20.00. My current point total is 5939 for a total value of $5.93. What a LOUSY loyalty program.

Heads up

Heads up, everyone — the PC Optimum app didn’t show a deal I was eligible for, and even after following the store manager’s advice to purchase the items and submit a ticket, I’m still being denied the points I earned.

If the app glitches, they won’t make it right — and that’s not okay. Be cautious when relying on the app or shopping at stores that use PC Points. If they can’t back up their own promotions, why should we trust them?

Deeply Disappointed and Frustrated with the PC Optimum Program

I’ve had enough of this misleading and frustrating experience with the PC Optimum program. Time and time again, they entice you with offers—especially through PC Express—only to fall short when it comes to actually delivering on the promised points. You carefully meet all the requirements, place your order accordingly, and then they conveniently fail to fulfill your entire order. As a result, you don’t receive the points you were promised.

Even worse, when you do meet all the criteria, they still don’t award the points. And trying to resolve the issue? Completely useless. You submit an inquiry, and in return, get five generic no-reply emails before they abruptly close the case without actually doing anything to help.

I’ve been dealing with this for a long time now, hoping things would improve. They haven’t. It's disappointing to see such a lack of accountability from a company that markets their loyalty program so heavily.

I will be cancelling my PC Financial credit card and moving my business to Scene+ or Air Miles—at least they honour their rewards and respect their customers. Don’t fall for these so-called “offers” without reading all the fine print and expecting to chase after what you’re rightfully owed.

I would give a zero if I could

I would give a zero if I could. I swiped my pc optimum card and I didn’t get points when I bought gas at esso. I contacted customer service, produced the bill and they didn’t give me the points and said I didn’t swipe the card but I DID SWIPE the PC optimum card. I’m never buying gas at esso again for the pc points

PC Express App is unusable due to the number of advertisements on every single page

The PC Express app is a joke. There are more ads than there are food items. The ads are irrelevant, cause extreme load times, take up the entire screen and constantly refresh causing the screen to scroll to the top after scrolling down.

You will have to scroll down because they clearly prioritize food items based on revenue or sponsorship and not what you search for nor want. It's worse than what Google has become. Greed or incompetent decision makers. Pick your poison. It's a really easy fix, just need the right people in place to call it out for what it is so they'll fix it: the worst customer experience app in Canada.

Rip off very poor quality optimum

The pc optimum health app is a joke.it started off good and could do up to 3.upon finishing one could add another. You could repeat programs and collect points.they got smart now you get zero points repeating a program and you cam do uo to ten programs but since doing it now for a year and a half and have done all programs so now nothing for months.every once in a blue moon they add a program and cam complete them nothing months again.you use to be able to make points now it's like pulling teeth to earn points.im fed up with it.is there anything shoppers drug mart can do that's good? Use to be fun collecting earning points.that all ended when loblaws took over.(go figure) I've been an optimum member from the very beginning.use to have great points program great customer service.now not so much.haven't given any bragging rights for long time.why should they care as companies like loblaws think they can dictate walk all over people and think they have the upper hand.they are filthy elite globalist

I can't finish the setup process…

I can't finish the setup process online. I have a card that I've had for years and would like to link online and check the account but I can't get past the setup process. It wants a verification code that it NEVER sends. Over a year of trying to link this card and access an account online..

Customer Care is actually Care-less

Customer Care is actually Customer Careless. After several times contacting the careless team about missing points, each time they gave an invalid reason for me not receiving the points. After several times trying to get my deserved points, they just ignored any other communication, proof of receipts to show the valid purchases. They will not let you contact a manager - nothing. I am shopping at Sobeys or Safeway from now on. I have had it with their useless customer careless team and even more useless chatbot.

Terrible customer service relating to being able to access my account

I have had 4 calls relating to not being able to access my account online. They keep closing the cases without ensuring the problem has been fixed. I was told yesterday that the problem needed to be escalated to technical support and they would call me to ensure what they did on their backend worked before closing the case yet again. They did not. They just closed the case. I will call for the fifth time tomorrow! Hopefully it works this time. If it can’t be fixed I will use up my points and switch over to moi or scene points. This is ridiculous!

This is about customer care

This is about customer care. I just called in today to forward what cashiers had directed me to do which was to provide receipt for points which they told me I was deserving of . The agent was mentioning that it was on seperate receipts. I knew this which is why I called in the first place to explain that I was being courteous to let other seniors go ahead of myself. The agent would stick to her point which I was aware of and not let me speak when I was looking for some alternative action in order to receive points she was not receptive to information I was trying to get in terms of finding out when the next offer was sp I could do a refund and finding any solution for me just apologizing which I don't know why she was. I was never allowed to speak. When the call lost reception she did not wish to try and call back and it was unresolved but sent me an email saying the case was closed..I dont remember a phone disconnecting meaning the case is closed without my consent. The worst part was the agent would talk and never pause to let me respond at all.

1.5 months of loyalty account issue

Well at least I’m not alone. I tried redeeming optimum points at a shoppers optimum bonus redemption event on March 15, 2025. It wouldn’t work and the error message was loyalty account issue. I phoned several times and did the common troubleshooting steps. Then my case number was “escalated to a specialist” and I have been in a stupid email chain ever since. One person even suggested I try a different store and so I collected all my purchases again to get the same error message. They keep asking the same stupid questions, nobody will phone me, and somehow they keep “escalating the issue” to nobody in particular. It has been 1.5 months now and nobody will give me an answer or try very hard to figure it out.
