I used to use these occasionally and had no problems but I wish I had read the other reviews before placing an order with them. Someone at director level in this company needs to look at this forum and take action. My story: I received a Philips steam generator iron on 30th December 2020 and had a faulty catch; the packaging was simply the manufacturer's box what you would pick up from a shelf in one of their stores - no cardboard box or additional cushioning. I sent an e-mail that day and had no response. I followed this up with a telephone call on 15th January 2021 and their system would not let me speak with anyone. The only option I had at this point was online chat: this took about an hour as I started out number 14 in the queue; I moved steadily up the queue and back down again! I sent a further e-mail on 20th January and no responese other that an auto acknowledgement. I am considering contacting Trading Standards or Barclaycard next.
Not even worth one star. Ordered a microwave in early December and never received it. Impossible to contact customer services, (what customer services?), as phone message directs you to their website that has no email address, webchat or online help. Managed to get an email address from the invoice - that no longer exists, emails returned as not deliverable. Have instructed bank to recover money - but having problems as DPD courier, (another bunch of scam artists), logged the microwave as being delivered after delivery being refused at the wrong address. Buy nothing from Currys, customer services complete waste of space and non existent. Ripped me off and cannot contact them at all. Looks like a job for the ombudsman and/or county court to recover my money.
Update: Have also sent two letters by registered mail and neither have been answered. Still waiting for result of investigation by HSBC.
Had a reply from one of the registered letters I sent to Currys saying that they could not deal with the problem and to contact them using the, (non existant), phone number or email address on their website. Complete tossers.
Refunded by HSBC not Currys. Never answered any of my letters and emails. Can't believe these rip-off artists are still in business.
Ordered a RTX 3070 from them on the 17/01/2021 for them to later let me know that the item was never available in the first place. With any other company this would be a simple mistake and the company would issue money back within 3-5 working days. But pcworld business decide to keep your money in holding and keep making false promises of refunds within 3-5 working days. At this point I think the refund department doesn’t even exist. Ive decided to contact the bank as recommended by others on this site. I feel that this is a ploy by PC world to keep afloat during the COVID period and feel business’s wouldn’t miss the money. Absolutely disgusting DO NOT spend money with theses scammers.
Over two months later and the order hasn't arrived!
Placed a business order on 20/11/20 with all items listed at dispatch within 2 day. Despite being payed in full by card at the time of ordering, the order was held. On the few occasions I was finally able to get through to customer services having being cut off on most occasions it took until 24/12/20 for them to work out it was an internal system error that caused the issue. The account was credited however not to the amount of the order as a previous error made by Currys had left an outstanding charge on the account. This took until the 27/01/21 for them to work out having made countless attempts to get in touch. Over two months after the order was placed I'm still out of pocket and without the goods. For anyone reading this, save yourself and place your order else where. Absolutely appalling service!
DONT DO IT!. I ordered an item, paid by card and then the following day get an email saying its not available. Their website still has it showing as being in stock but now at a higher price. I email asking for a refund. It takes them 3 days to reply and only then to say its a different department who deals with it and they take 24 hours to read an email and then up to 5 days to get a refund. So they get to keep my money for a week and i get nothing!
I'm still waiting for a refund that they agreed to process within 3-5 days (email stating automatic refund to credit card) that was 17th December, its now 26 January. They did not have the product to send, but they still have over £400 from my credit card. They don't answer my calls ( 10 or more, and counting: the line just disconnects after an automated response), emails are not responded to, and 7 or 8 goes at online chat end in frustration! It feels like dealing with a scam company. My bank are currently initiating a chargeback: you've been warned if you're reading this. Shame I can't put no stars.
One od the worst purchasing experiences ever.
No status update communications, customer service are virtually none existant. Online chat and phone lines have long waits, in one case over 45mins before i abandoned the chat while still waiting.
Empty promises from customer services on delivery dates. Ended up cancelling my order and would recommend that this is a company avoid!
Ordered an item I urgently needed, which showed next business day delivery. A week later having received no further communication and the tracking page not having been updated, spent a couple of hours getting through to customer support (the only way being to give a different reason for the call and use their online chat, then wait & wait). Eventually told that item out of stock indefinitely. When I queried why this could not have been communicated was told that PC World "don't get live stock updates from suppliers"! Have requested a refund, which apparently takes up to 6 working days. Item is still shown as available on their website! Won't be using again.
Absolute horrendous experience and company to deal with. I purchased a computer for my business on 8th December 2020 via my online account, after a couple of days I received a text from DPD stating the time and date the order was due to arrive. However, it didn't arrive! I contacted Currys PC World Business via my online account to ask where the order was but received no reply. A few days later on the 15th it said on DPD that it was delivered! but it wasn't delivered to me! I then spent over a month trying unsuccessfully to get hold of anyone via phone, email and online chat to find out where the computer was, but no response from any avenue, by this time they had stopped taking calls and all enquiries were directed to their online chat service. The online chat is a joke, they say someone will get back to you and then just cut you off, and guess what they never get back to you! After my third online chat session, each session taking up to an hour I was finally told where they think the order was delivered to. Their response was to go and find it! Again they promised they would investigate it and come back to me in 24/48 hours, this was a week ago and guess what they still have not come back to me.
Absolutely atrocious. A sales agent placed an order for me over two weeks ago and I was emailed the same day to advise there was no stock. Was advised to wait 3-5 working days for a refund (it's now been 11) and no sign of my money. Trying to contact customer services is next to impossible and if by some miracle you do get through, they are rude and have no idea what they're doing. I asked to speak to a manager and was told there were none available and I would have to wait 3-5 working days for someone to get back to me, of course no one has been in contact. Don't waste your time. Herendous company.
Order couldn't be fulfilled and like many others sent on a wild goose chase trying to get a refund. It has been close to a month since the order was placed and over 2 weeks since hearing back from customer service saying they will issue a refund.
Finally got my money back via a charge back through HSBC and I used a debit card.
Cant believe such a large company is able to hold on to so many people's refunds!
Placed on order for goods on the 28th December 2020, received an e-mail saying goods were in store to collect, didn't mention this was multiple orders. Drove to store to collect and couldn't find my order despite having confirmation from the courier. they then found it but were rather unhelpful. Phoned on the 4th January asking when the part order was in stock and they couldn't tell me. So I ordered elsewhere and cancelled the order the following day via e-mail. I received my goods from another supplier on the 6th January with no problems. Even when collected other items in store I cancelled it, store has not done their job and actioned this. This has been going on all January that I have paid for and not even had, despite e-mailing, calling, and live chat. They expect you to contact them again once you receive a credit note for them to process a refund, sorry but you should do this yourself curry's, its not that difficult to refund for items ive not even had. I've been e-mailing from another e-mail account (my own account) and they respond, because i attach a business invoice sent from my business e-mail they think im someone else! Complete scam don't bother, buy from Ebuyer or other firms as the customer service is appalling, £300 out of pocket I'll be contacting the bank.
I’m changing my review. At first I thought it was a scam, but my MacBook Pro was just delivered, even though I cancelled the order...
I just think they are pretty crap at customer service. But my MacBook is here and I’m happy, so I don’t have to contact my bank and reclaim my money!
Still getting one star though!
Many people complaining (justified), but no real solutions. Here is my approach, hopefully this helps.
If you get caught out by their refunds process, here is what to do. Get them to send in an official headed email a guarantee of your refund within 3-5 days. Inevitably you wont actually get this refund within that time. However, having this in writing is a contract between you and PCWB for the 3-5 day timeline. You can then contact your bank and issue a charge-back (after that time). This takes the power away from PCWB and gives it back to you. You can get these charge-backs on BOTH credit card and debit card purchases with UK banks. If we cause enough trouble at the banks, this will eventually force PCWB to change their policy as the whole thing is ridiculous.
In my opinion the number of unhappy consumers goes as far as to constitute a class, and I would personally contribute to a lawsuit for damages.
Ordered items showing in stock 04/01/2020 with a total of £2880. Was then informed all items out of stock and could request a refund. It takes the accounts team 24 hours to approve the refund apparently, but I am no on my 4th request as it has "slipped the net" on the previous three occasions.
Don't buy from this company they will take your money and hold it for good they don't have.
Horrendous service. If they don't have stock for your item, they don't refund you even when you ask!
They have over £5000 of unfulfilled orders. They say they have processed the refunds on 3 separate occasions, still no refund 2 weeks later.
The only way to go now is via the bank to dispute the charges. Disgusting service and not surprised to see most others think the same too
Your probably reading this too late but don't buy from curry's pc world business.
they will take your money for an item that is out of stock and will likely not be restocked and refuse to give you a refund for that item.
Trying to get into contact with their customer service is an awful experience with them either not replying to emails and chats or just outright cutting you off mid conversation.
If you have purchased something from CPW Business contact your bank and ask for a dispute to be raised with the payment you made as this is the only way I can see anyone getting their money back
Bought a graphics card off site as was monitoring site and bought it just after it popped up (was ordered within about 15 minutes of it showing on site). Needless to say got the email later that day saying it wasn't available so I went to contact them to get a refund (its not automatically refunded if they can't supply item).
Had to contact online as customer support phone line directed me there (no operators available?).
Got my order cancelled after a little wait and while online asked about site, here is an extract from the transcript :
"Chris (19/01/2021, 17:21:30): I bought the item as soon as it appeared in the site (I had a program monitoring it). Did you ever have the stock? Is it safe to buy from your website as it seems to be inaccurate about stock levels?
Donna G (19/01/2021, 17:24:49): I cannot advise on stock levels, I can only say that the website has a delay on it and does not live update
Chris (19/01/2021, 17:25:27): Okay...... How long a delay?
Donna G (19/01/2021, 17:32:10): we are advise around 10 minutes
Chris (19/01/2021, 17:34:13): Which I think is during working hours. At night it doesn't seem to get any updates at all (as you say it's not live update, i.e. manual steps in process)
Chris (19/01/2021, 17:36:33): Basically makes website redundant for desired products (like the one I tried to buy). You must waste so much time cancelling orders that should never have existed!
Donna G (19/01/2021, 17:36:58): Apologies , this is not ideal when trying to order, can I assist with anything other than the refund request today?"
So basically their website is no use for ordering any items that might fly off the shelf (like the RTX 3080 I tried to order!). Over night the site doesn't seem to update at all.
My advice, don't order online. You need to get in touch with them first unless you want to spend some of your hard earned cash only to tie it up in someone else's bank account!
You have been warned! 💷💷💩💩
Disgusting service, took my money and did not deliver. Spent hours trying to get hold of someone to deal with issues, still no joy. Thinking it's just a scam now. Do not order anything from these people!
