Worse service ever

Worse service ever. Rude arrogant staff. Avoid this company. You are not insured if you go with these. I’ve had to get a solicitor now to fight them as they refuse to pay out on my claim.

This company is a joke

This company is a joke. I have lost count of the number of emails my husband and I have sent since 17.09.20. We had someone sent out due to bathroom water leak the damage was so bad she advised like for like. They have now just said someone can fix the whole in the bath. Absolutely no mention of the kitchen ceiling that’s affected or the water damage under the bath. To top it off I’ve highlighted multiple time that I’m a front line nurse dealing with COVID in a house with a husband and four young children SHARING one shower. One adviser had the nerve to say “it’s not like you are all showering at one time “ 😳🤬 well we are still waiting 12 weeks later. The stress this company has caused our family is disgusting. There really are no words to describe this bunch of morons .

I am amazed at the amount of negative…

I am amazed at the amount of negative reviews that this company has received. I cannot praise them enough.
After a fire, luckily confined to one room, Pen instructed an underwriter who visited the next working day and he in turn instructed a “rescue” firm to empty the room and de-contaminate the rest of the house as it had been affected by smoke. The claim was paid out in full for both structural work and contents in a very timely manner.
The only reason that I have not awarded 5 stars is that the premium more than tripled on renewal due to the amount of the claim, despite no claims having been made previously.
I was able to mitigate this a little by increasing the excess which was at my suggestion.

Hopeless - can't even start a claim

I've been trying to lodge a Business Interruption claim for over 8 weeks, and can't even get a response from Pen Underwriting to get the claim underway, never mind getting them to consider it. Unfortunately many people buy their insurance under a different broker name so if this is you - if Pen Underwriting are anywhere on the paperwork, recommend you avoid them. I used to work in insurance, and this 'customer service' is nonexistent. Going to the ombudsman next.

Words fail me

Words fail me
This has to be the worst company in existence I don’t think I have seen company reviews on here where every single one is dreadful giving one star, which is one star more than they deserve. I can reiterate the comments from other reviewers that they will go out of their way to refuse a claim, mine is a Covid bi claim as well, even though the Supreme Court has not issued its decision pen are turning down claims on spurious very questionable grounds.
I would urge anyone taking out an insurance policy to check with their brokers that it is not underwritten by pen if it is go elsewhere.
I would also urge all brokers not to use them
I have made an official complaint to the ombudsman and if anyone needs help in doing the same please get in touch if this platform allows it

Absolutely disgusted.....avoid at all costs!

I’m absolutely disgusted with the service I’ve received. Totally and completely ignored by Alex, the only reply I ever get is generic via my broker. Trying their absolute best to wriggle out of payment for COVID-19, despite me having business interuption AND infectious diseases. Even before High Court ruling they showed they would be doing all they could not to pay out. All too happy to take your money but it’s a totally different story when it’s time to make a claim. Avoid at all costs, choosing these fools for my policy may end up costing me a lot of money!!

Horrendous customer service

Horrendous customer service. We were burgled several months ago and are still arguing about paying us following our claim.
They've seen cctv footage , had info they needed and still not a penny. They're just dragging it out further and world like a receipt from when cctv was installed 10 years ago! Seriously... AVOID THESE CROOKS

Poor experience

Poor experience. Wanted to almosts double the premium after 1st year despite no claims!
I had 1 of their specialist "Hiscox" type policies (or so i was told by the brokers), and you pay high prices for the priviledge. When i enquired about some additional cover, totally unhelpful.
I would not recommend these insurers, you may as well just get a quote from GoCompare, much cheaper option.

Do not use this company

Do not use this company. 5 months I've been waiting for a response to my claim. 5 months. Multiple times their team insist they will call me back - and nothing ever happens. And they refuse to speak to me at weekends as they are keeping the lines open for new claims - even though they have yet to proceed with anything to do with my 'open case'. Simply awful

I made a claim for contents insurance…

I made a claim for contents insurance and this company is just completely messed up don't respond to emails unprofessional people working in the company they don't care about their customers I am still in shock how this company still running should be banned straight away don't waste your money don't buy insurance from them if this company doesn't resolve my issue and my claim I will not change my review at all

BEWARE - Pen Insurance wriggle out of payouts.

Pen Insurance are using the following caveat hidden deep within their terms and conditions to avoid paying out on pandemic travel insurance claims:

Exclusions: Regulations made by any public authority or government or persons with the authority under legislation or licence to make regulations.

The Pen Travel Insurance policy (underwritten by AIG) is not worth the paper it is written although they will gladly receive your premium.

Terrible experience worst insurance company avoid them!!!

Horrific and nasty experience don’t go with them!!! Horrendous staff so unhelpful and rude and completely inhumane. After the apartment above flooded down into mine leaving me evacuated and not allowed to access my apartment for a few months, they left me completely homeless for over a couple of months just because they did not want to pay out for the alternative accommodation in my area, despite this being included within my insurance policy. I had to pay out extra money for legal advice to fight them every step of the way. After not providing alternative accommodation for so long, I had to try and source and pay for my own place to stay every night for months, and even then after providing receipts of this, they wouldn't even reimburse me for the additional expenses I paid for two months, for having to source and find my own housing while evacuated. Only after 6 months of fighting and officially complaining to the Financial Ombudsman did I get reimbursed and eventually compensated for their disgraceful treatment. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!’

Pen Insurance is a total SCAM..Avoid.

Do not consider yourself insured if you have bought from Pen Underwriting. You are NOT. By using a long list of subcontractors to handle the claim, they purposefully allow inaccurate information to be used.
The direct group and davies group are the subcontractors, they cant receive emails, though they don't bounce back, just have to take their word for it. They don't respond to emails and when telephoned, claim to be emailing that day. Pure lies.
Maybe look at the company strap line 'REIMAGINING INSURANCE CLAIMS' What you get is a very disagreeable person telling you that 'trace and access cover' in case of a leak etc, DOES NOT COVER tracing and accessing the leak..They make it up as they go along, threaten to hang up when challenged and HARVEST DATA to be sold on. They asked for my birthdate, to continue the call, despite ref numbers etc etc. Knowing they didn't have my d o b, I gave an incorrect one, when it was accepted, I knew they were harvesting data to be shared amongst the considerable list of subcontractors. Avoid, COMPLETE waste of money.

Very bad Company

Very bad Company. I insured all my properties with CIA Insurance who are the brokers for Direct Group and Pen underwriters. I insured my own house on the 20th February 2020 to. Make sure that is was covered before leaving on work related issues in Ireland. To my horror on my return today 5th March to my horror I opened a letter telling me that they no longer wished to Insure my property or any others of my properties two of which are currently now NOT covered. If you can help it DO NOT use any of the above Companies. Totally unprofessional service or none at all as in my case recently. It takes half an HR to get through to Pen underwriters etc. I will be taking legal advise on this matter and probably will ask my other half to write an article about our service from them. Awful BE WARNED O points from me sadly.

Awful Service Provided by Pen Underwriting

They do not deserve the 1 star. PEN Underwriting are the worst I have experienced with any insurance company. You take out a policy with them and when we need to make a claim, they refuse the claim based on inaccurate and false information. Any false excuse not to pay out. I will be raising a complaint with the Financial Ombudsman. I would avoid taking out any insurance with this company. They even refuse to speak to me advising I need to go through the broker and the broker is advising me to speak to them directly. I am just being passed from pillar to pillar to even raise a complaint.
