Just an update on V5 we had to apply for a new V5 because when we contacted DVLA about the application from PhilipPaul they told us that they had not had an application from them ( this is nearly a month on from buying car ) they are the biggest liars I have ever encountered, this cost me £25 and another 10 Days wasted we bought car on Valentines Day and we got V5 on Aprils fools day no thanks to PhilipPaul who never even applied for it. Please be vigilant when buying a vehicle from this bunch of clowns and whatever you do don't let them talk you into letting them Tax vehicle for you or leave without a V5 or the green slip out of V5. Never had an experience like this in my life.

I can but echo the positive feedback I've read on Trustpilot regarding exemplary service from the Philip Paul dealership.
I called in mid-October 2025 and spoke with Paul Thompson about a MB SLC I'd seen online. The car was exactly what I was looking for and after a relatively brief conversation in which Paul answered all my queries about the car to my entire satisfaction, we were discussing a deal. He fully matched my expectations regarding the trade-in value of my existing vehicle and everything else was plain sailing after that.
I drove the 150 miles to Oswestry and the car was well-prepared & exactly as described. The paperwork was all handled in situ, including swapping my personalised number plate and taxing the SLC for the year. It really couldn't have been easier.
A minor issue with the car has since been unearthed and resolved speedily, generously and without quibble by Elliot Olner, the Service Manager.
I am delighted with my purchase and would like to thank all concerned at the Dealership, which I would recommend unreservedly.
I simply cannot understand how it gets 1% ratings from 38% of the reviews posted. My experience could honestly not have been different!
No pushy sales and great cars
Contacted the dealership regarding a Tiguan which i had found on Autotrader, got a quick response and arranged to view the vehicle that weekend. Soon as we arrived, we found the car and had a look. One thing i noticed that i havent seen with other dealers was that they had removed the price of the vehicle from the screen, knowing i was coming to see it. That reduced the chance for someone else to see it and kept the vehicle, kind of reserved, for me, without a single penny being given. Paul then gave us the keys and left us too it, just that alone is again something you dont get with most dealers. They want to follow you, butt in etc.. but not here. They let us do what we wanted.. they let the car speak for itself. I was also given a great price for my part ex. Online i was getting quotes from £700 to £2000.. they offered a great deal with no haggling. The car is great and i couldnt be happier. Thank you Paul for the great experience and when we look to replace this one, i will be back again!
Great Company to deal with
Exemplary service from this family run business. Steven Evans at Philip Paul, Oswestry went out of his way to contact me with the exact car I was looking for. He reserved it for me before it was even advertised until I could get down to see it. He also sent a detailed video of the external bodywork and interior. The car was in excellent condition, exactly as described, at a very reasonable price and well worth the journey from Scotland.
All paperwork was completed for me at the dealership, including my road tax, which made everything so easy and relaxed.
The after sales service from the team was also very impressive. Overall I am delighted with my car purchase and would highly recommend this dealership on the basis of my personal experience. 👏👏

Philip Paul LTD
We recently purchased a VW Tiguan from Philip Paul LTD of Oswestry, Shropshire at a price of £13, 995. Not a fortune for a second- hand car but a lot of money to us. The car was advertised as a 4WD with “great service history” and it did look good when we visited. As usual with salesmen, pressure was applied to us to put down a deposit otherwise the salesman “had someone else who wanted it and were going to pay over the phone with a credit card”.
However, as we liked the car and what we had been told (the car had just been serviced and MOT’d), we went ahead, purchasing the car on finance and arranged to collect it 6 days later.
Upon collection, after signing all the paperwork, we were finally presented with the “great service history”….it wasn’t “great” it was “sketchy” at best.
We had a choice, walk away or take the car. We took the car but informed the salesman we would be putting it into out local VW dealer for a full check over, which, to be frank, went down like a “lead balloon”.
Two days later we dropped the car into VW at Shrewsbury (who I have to say have been great) and we ended up with a bill for £1100 to bring all of the service record up to date, and in addition a bill for £676 for a failed Haldex pump,( which basically makes the car a 4WD not a 2WD), due to the poor maintenance record of the vehicle (please remember, Philip Paul had “serviced” the car 2 weeks prior to us collecting it).
When contacting Philip Paul LTD, they attempted every trick in the book to deny any liability for selling us a faulty vehicle, but finally, with pressure from us and the finance company they paid for the Haldex pump, but refused to offer any compensation for our time and inconvenience.
All we can say is, if you are thinking of buying a vehicle from this company, be very careful and look for many of the warning signs we missed.

I was quoted £100 a wheel to have 3 alloy wheels re furnished would be ready next day that was last Friday. Rang each day and told each day they would be ready the next, it's now Wednesday and I've just picked them up. To be fair they look very nice! Then they add VAT so £120 a wheel please be careful if you get a quote salesman says he always quotes exclusive! Had I known this I would not have given them the job and certainly won't use Philip Paul again sad really I used to rate them and even send friends there.
Incidentally I thought the transaction was complete Zac had my debit card I had what I thought was my invoice which I put on the car seat . I asked where my card was he said it was on his desk I picked it up and went to leave. Zac and a colleague stopped me leaving and said I hadn't paid I went in and immediately paid. I did not see any notice regarding exclusive prices quoted, indeed when I was quoted I was standing by my car at the side of the garage. I, of course apologise for having to be called back to pay as I say my debit card was on Zac's desk as I had given it to him to pay but he was far to busy saying he always quotes excluding VAT. Zac then mentioned a quote for work I has asked for I said not to bother.

Avoid at all cost terrible service only want your money when you buy the car they yiu have to figure the issues out yourself on the phone there polite and will make you believe there is no better place to buy a car from but please be advised stay well away they will make the car look shiny with there cleaning products but underneath the car is finished with countless issues read the rest of there reviews they are true we dealt with Paul and Zak the manager was no help at all avoiding my emails and calls telling there staff there away from work to avoid dealing with the car problems which they sold with .

Purchased a VW polo GTI in august 2023 from Paul from Phillip Paul car centre 2 hours after purchasing the vehicle the car had an issue with its flywheel making a noise in which they offered to allow me to bring the vehicle back to the dealership for this to be inspected , 2 week later the flywheel was replaced and shortly after I drove 2 hours back home the car had the same noise as previously diagnosed, again I had to make a further trip down to them to have this resolved in which this meant I was without the vehicle again for a further week so in total the car was back and fourth to the dealers for a period of 3 weeks in total for them to carry out these repairs, further to this I have now had my vehicle inspected 2 months after purchasing with just shy of 2000 miles completed in the car to now find both front suspension arms bushing are torn and worn out/perishing in which this should have been frankly picked in the MOT they had completed and also the wheel alignment they had done , so in all in all there after sales department is unsatisfactory with being told to go through my warranty and that the repairs they had completed was a “gesture of goodwill” from Zak when in fact this should have all been picked up in the checks before selling the vehicle to the public , so again I’m now having to pay for these repairs out of my own pocket and there was never any offer of compensation for the inconvenience caused and then to be told by them today they can’t do anything and that they can pass my feedback on Is laughable.
