Absolute rip off and garbage

Absolute rip off and garbage. Spent £3K on them. We have been asking for refunds within the trial which was ages ago and they keep stalling us, passing the buck from one dept to another and not coming to pick up the aids while they said they would, etc. Horrendous.

Buying Phonak from Boots? Be wary!

UK Customers who purchase a Phonak hearing aid from Boots should be aware that Phonak is part of Boots Audiology. This was not mentioned by my Boots audiologist who was very keen that I bought Phonak. As far as I can see this connection is not mentioned in any Boots literature. I did some research and saw that Phonak are often badly reviewed and rarely appear on Top 10 best hearing aid lists, unlike Oticon and other brands which are similarly priced. My advice - go to an independent audiologist and research the best hearing aids. Boots need to look at this disingenuous practice which is unfair to loyal customers.

Would give less than 1 star if I could

Would give less than 1 star if I could. Haven't been able to wear these things consistently for more than a month since they keep breaking. I have sent them in for repairs two times over the last 3 months. Each time they come back, work for a week or less and need to be sent back in.

Do not buy Phonak.

Constantly lose connectivity between the two hearing aids, about twice a month I have to complete remove and re-install app. Which by the way is garbage, and they sound like the $59.99 hearing aids you can get at Rite-Aid in the " as seen on TV aisle", do not waste your money on Phonak.

The app is absolutely ridiculous

The app is absolutely ridiculous, have installed and un installed repeatedly and it will not connect to my bluetooth, it worked for about 1 year, there must have been an update, now nothing. I'm not sure why the Veterans administration chise these hearing aids, but they should dump them.

Phonak hearing aids work well as long…

Phonak hearing aids work well as long as there is no need for them to interact with another device such as your mobile phone or Roger Select. The app is useless (see other reviews). The Select device has its own issues which are not acknowledged or addressed by Phonak. Phonak are really unhelpful, and appear not to care, they cant be contacted for advice and assistance, and the FAQ's do not address all issues. Boots Hearing Care try their best but have no influence over the inadequacies of the product or the service from Phonak.

Useless Phonak hearing aids

I have had Phonak rechargeable Bluetooth hearing aids for a couple of years.
I chose them particularly for their Bluetooth facility to take phone calls and to listen to music via the hearing aids. When they are working properly, which is not very often, they are excellent.
Unfortunately the connection to my iPhone fails a few seconds after re-pairing so most of the time they are useless. This has been a long standing problem.
I spent half an hour with the Boots audiologist this afternoon and eventually he seemed to have sorted the problem which he described as a software glitch . The minute I left the shop they disconnected again.
I would strongly advise against buying Phonak until there is strong evidence that this problem has been fixed.
Until then try another make, otherwise they are a waste of good money.

The Phonak app is terrible.

The aids are just fine and don't take long to get used to. The Phonak app on the other hand is a disaster and btw clearly an embarrassment to the developers since it already includes lines and lines and stuff about what to do if it doesn't work—delete and reinstall, re-pair, etc.—all of which I have tried more than once. Searches online reveal many others have had the same experience: I even came across a page meant for Boots salespeople on "how to deal with customers who have an issue with the App." Put simply, there is a less than 25% chance of the app connectiing to the aids on any given occasion (it apparently also fails to save customer-made changes although I have not experienced that problem yet). Since this reduces the utility of the aids by 75% I'd suggest a £3,000 refund! Boots audiology claim they can't help over the phone which of course they can - the problem is only with the app, not the brand-new perfectly functioning aids.

I use Hearing Wales in Narbeth West Wales. They provided me with Phonak Hearing aids. these fantastic aids have transformed my life. I hear bird song, I can hear clearly in restaurants, pubs, crowded situations.
conversations from my smart phone go directly into my ears without the need to carry my smart phone around in my hand.
They are revolutionary.I am absolutely thrilled with the product.
I could not be more delighted.

What a con

What a con. Hearing aid test at Boots. Yes you need hearing aids and we have just what you need Mr Green.
The top of the range most expensive (nearer to £3000) Phonak Paradise. Might as well have ear muffs on. they keep turning off and I reinstall the app once or twice a day.
Then I find out Phonak (Sonova) and Boots are in partnership.
What a surprise.

Fantastic hearing aids and app

I have had the phonic hearing aids for a few months now and 5he are fantastic, no feedback noises, they are small and discreet, easy to charge, and usually when I fly when the plane tips I feel sick and dizzy not any more. The app is so easy to use, when I go out with friends I can change the settings so I can hear the conversations, which I couldn't before I usually lip read but that isn't always accurate. I can listen to music through my hearing aids as they connect through blue tooth and answer my phone by tapping button on hearing aid, so no rummaging in my bag to locate phone. The also counts my steps. These hearing aids are fantastic

Multiple issues with dysfunction

The app & Bluetooth connectivity is too complex for the older population (my 89 year old mother). Advertised that battery lasts at least 3 years - lasted less than 2 years. The temporary hearing aid (during servicing end of Nov 2022) never worked. The filter frequently gets stuck in the receiver requiring a visit to the Audiologist to replace the (expensive) receiver. More recently (the past 2 weeks), I have had to change the filter either everyday or every other day (each filter is supposed to last about 2 weeks). Audiologist updated the app (Dec 2022) on the phone - initially connected only to phone calls only (with no access to app itself) and after I updated the phone & reinstalled the app - because it wasn't working, (End of Dec 2022), it now does not connect to hearing aid at all - can't find device. Can't get any service rep support from Phonak (on phone or electronically) - have to go through Audiologist for all concerns. Poorly trained audiologists (and we are working with a DOCTOR of audiology) - they do not take the initiative to fully "register" & "connect" the device during a visit - had to return 3 times to get it working. Website has minimal information and not enough troubleshooting information. This has not been one date of a bad experience but continuous problems for over 2 full months since the beginning of Nov 2022. This has been very frustrating for my mother, myself (I am quite technologically savvy) and our Audiologist.

If I could give a zero I would

If I could give a zero I would, £3250, for Phonax honestly not worth a quarter of the price, after 3 weeks charging case stopped working, Bluetooth won’t connect, aids never lasted full day, Everything that was in the box had faults after 3 weeks. Please avoid at all costs. Returned for refund which I got and couldn’t get out of Boots quickly enough.

Great device, poor pedometer option

The Phonak hearing aid is a great device. I sent my hearing aids back due them shutting down randomly. The devices were repaired and returned within 3 weeks Sounds are clear and crisp.

However, the app itself leaves a lot to be desired. Trying to get a live chat is next to impossible. The pedometer a one star rating. The pedometer does not come close correctly counting steps. I sent my devices back hoping there was an adjustment, unfortunately no.

Don’t waste your money

I got my second pair of Phonak hearing aids earlier this year from Boots hearing. Whilst I was reasonably satisfied with my previous ones, I did experience the odd hiccup it was nothing like my new aids! I had indicated to Boots that I wished I had my money back on more than one occasion, but each time I was talked out of it. Just when I thought that I was winning and that after switching all the phone coupling and hi tec and got back to basics, I have problems with changing filters! Not even Boots could change them without changing the wires and amplifiers so what hope had I? I only hope that this is not going to be the norm as I have had to wait circa 8 weeks for an appointment!

I spent a lot of money on these new hearing aids and the speaker of one is now faulty after just under a year. The service place ordered a new speaker & said it would be here in a couple of days….that was over a week ago….I won’t be able to attend family Thanksgiving out of town….not happy.

Moisture problems with so-called waterproof hearing aids.

I wrote a review here in October '21 about my Phonak top-of-the-range Audeo rechargeable hearing aids that kept turning themselves off whenever I got warm and had a small bit of perspiration behind my ears.
Specsavers offered to change them for the battery version which I gladly accepted. But now I have the same problem with the battery models, though the small advantage is that I can remove the batteries and replace them to switch them back on again.
Phonak advertise that these are category IP68, which as they point out means they can tolerate immersion in 1 metre depth of water for 60 minutes! What nonsense and a wholly untrue and deceptive claim, so how can you believe anything they say?
I tried asking Phonak about this but they refused to comment!
I certainly won't be buying Phonak again.

Just DON'T do it

Grossly overpriced for very little benefit. They are just amplifiers that boost everything - including background noise. The only thing in their favor is the Bluetooth connectivity with your smartphone, however their android app has gone from marginal to completely worthless with the latest "update". Don't bother contacting the company because they don't care after they have your money.

Phonak returned to Boots

I attended Boots and tried the top of range 90. They worked fine in everyday conversation for 60 days and Lizzie in Boots was very helpful. However, the "tap ear" connection did not work, Bluetooth always was awful, and the app is useless - no range of settings and always "lost " my unique settings as I have unilateral hearing loss. Boots are too busy to give time for appointments so no time to change and so had to give them back at the end of the 60 days trial.
