Got the Leak Location Wrong and Refused Responsibility
Pimlico initially came out to perform leak detection but could not determine the exact location of the leak. They advised that tracer gas testing was required to accurately locate the source.
I paid over £1,500 for the tracer gas investigation.
Following the survey, Pimlico identified a leak location and proposed further works at a cost of approximately £4,500 (excluding reinstatement costs) to access and repair it. The quote was excessive, so I instructed a different contractor.
The floor was opened up exactly where Pimlico identified the leak. There was no leak there. A second location identified by Pimlico was subsequently ruled out as well.
What I found most disappointing was Pimlico's response when this was brought to their attention. Before the tracer gas survey, the service was presented as a way to accurately locate the source of the leak. Once the identified location proved wrong, the explanation changed to tracer gas only identifying a "probable area" or "logical starting point".
In other words, I paid over £1,500 for a specialist leak detection service and was left needing a fresh leak investigation because the area identified was wrong.
Based on my experience, I would save your money or use a company that is prepared to stand behind its diagnosis.

The purpose of the tracer gas service was to refine this diagnosis and provide a more targeted indication of the likely leak location to support subsequent trace and access works.
Based on the engineer’s findings at the time, including pressure testing results and tracer gas readings, the bedroom/conservatory area was identified as the most probable location for further investigation. This conclusion was clearly presented as a professional assessment based on the available evidence, rather than a guaranteed pinpoint confirmation of the leak location.
I recognise your view that the subsequent intrusive works did not identify a leak in the area indicated. However, leak detection is an inherently investigative process, particularly in concealed systems, and tracer gas testing provides a probability-based assessment rather than absolute confirmation of the exact leak point. It is also not possible to fully verify system configuration or later third-party findings retrospectively when forming the original diagnosis.
I acknowledge your concern that expectations around the level of precision may not have aligned with the outcome. However, the service provided was delivered in line with the intended purpose of tracer gas testing, which is to narrow down likely leak locations and inform the next stage of investigation rather than guarantee exact location without further exposure works.
I am sorry to hear about the inconvenience, cost, and disruption experienced as a result of the works that followed. Your feedback has been noted and will be shared internally to ensure we continue to improve how we communicate the limitations and expected outcomes of diagnostic services more clearly at the outset.

No guarantee that they clear a clog???
Pimlico failed to fully clear a blockage in my house, the main clog was in the ground floor but I told the engineer that my top floor toilet was slow draining and gurgling. He flushed it a few times in front of me and we both heard a large clog move down the line. Satisfied that it was fixed, he left the property and 2 hours later when I went to shower in the middle bathroom, I discovered every drain was stopped up and backing up due to the clog that had settled there. I called back expecting this to be a non issue to remedy, and was instead told I would need to pay a separate £180 fee for a new engineer to come out because they're insisting it's a separate clog and that they have no guarantee against clogs. When supplied with the above information, they switched to saying that I was informed about remedial work needed on the property (top floor having a 90 degree bend in the pipework) and until that's fixed, they don't guarantee their work. What an absolute joke. Unbelievable service for £180. They even had the audacity to say if the engineer had stayed longer to fix the middle bathroom clog, I would have paid more. He was here all of 20 minutes and I paid for a full hour!! I might just file a dispute with my bank for services not rendered.

Charged for no reason (sent wrong person for the work)
Used these guys over ten times and fine them a bit sharky. This has happened to me a couple of times with them where you are ripped off. I needed a locksmith and they said they would send a carpenter / locksmith out to fix a locked balcony door. The guy that turned up wasn’t a locksmith and therefore couldn’t do the work (he was not really competent at all for the work) and suggested taking the glass out of the door. Anyhow he was there for 5 mins and they charged me anyhow for the hour.

Following our review of the booking and subsequent discussions, we acknowledge that you specifically requested a locksmith experienced with patio door lock issues. During your initial call, you explained that the key was turning continuously without engaging the lock mechanism and that you believed the lock may need to be drilled out and replaced. These details were recorded at the time of booking.
When our technician attended, he confirmed that the lock cylinder was turning but not engaging with the gearbox mechanism inside the door. His assessment was that components within the locking mechanism had failed and that a locksmith would be required to drill and release the door before the multipoint locking system could be replaced.
While the diagnosis aligned with the issue you had described, we recognise that the job should not have been accepted without first ensuring the appropriate specialist was assigned. We understand your disappointment that the required repair could not be completed during the visit and that you were charged despite the work remaining unresolved.
After reviewing the matter, a refund was authorised and has now been processed by our Accounts Team.
We appreciate that you have used our services on numerous occasions, which makes it particularly disappointing to learn that this experience has impacted your confidence in us. Your feedback has been shared internally as part of our ongoing review of job allocation and customer communication processes to help prevent similar situations in the future.
