Oceania cruise booked through Planet Cruise
We booked an Oceania cruise through Planet Cruise. During the cruise, tensions mounted in the Gulf and all flights to and from Doha, where we were routed through were cancelled. I have an email trail of over 32 emails asking them to reroute us and what we were supposed to do when we reached Shanghai but they kept telling us our flights were still confirmed.
They did change our flights but always via Doha!
I explained that this was against UK government advice and would invalidate our travel insurance but still they kept rerouting us via Doha.
We booked our own hotel in Shanghai and flights home not via Doha as we needed to get home asap.
They have sent us a refund for almost the whole cost of the flights, apparently the wrong amount sent was an administrative error and should be corrected.
However they are refusing to refund our hotel because they claim they sent us an email, which we 100% didn’t receive, organising a hotel for us. I monitored my inbox and junk mail hourly for any news from them.
This email has been forwarded from a planet cruise member which we now have but 100% didn’t get the original from a Zendesk email address.
The transport organised by them as part of the trip also hadn’t been informed of any change of plan as they took us to the airport on disembarking the ship.
We then had to fork out more money which we had to pay the driver in USD to get to the hotel we’d booked.
I was told by one member of the support team that 3 nights of our 4 night hotel stay would be paid along with the flights (no food expenses could be claimed) and then I was told that they wouldn’t be refunding any of our hotel expenses.
It’s honestly been chaotic!
They assumed we’d get the email from this Zendesk email address which we didn’t! They didn’t try to contact us via Oceania, or call us or send an SMS. Nothing!
My next ‘port of call’ is ABTA!
Safe to say, I won’t be booking with them again!

Very easy booking with some offers as well. THe process was smooth and everything went as per schedule. The trip was fantastic as well. I would definitely look at booking through them in the future too. There were some initial niggles as the booking through them cant be modified through the shipping company..but once you realised and contacted them they were very helpful and explained everything well too.
