I am a very longtime user, > 10 years, and I'm a software developer (30 yrs, PC / client / host side).
I'll comment on their (new) website, on their development process, and their changing user base.

I joined as iOs beta tester in 2013, around 2015 they started their main site 'BETA' relaunch. I was very active first on commenting and reporting.
My experience with their 'beta center' (user response site) is, they did not really respond to issues, in general I felt a stiff upper lip. They always knew better, simply declined feature requests or esp. discussions about the best UI design.
I also tried writing detailed 'user stories', or 'before/after' comparisons on features... explaining how a power user used the site... hoping developers would respond.

Even more, it was full of spam as nobody cared about who wrote stupid ads.
THEY HAVE NO PROFESSIONAL USER RESPONSE MANAGEMENT.

Then they got their mobile apps out and seems they decided on doing a 1:1 copy on browser.
During the years, several key positions on their team changed (seeking scrum masters, POs, and several UX personnel)... not good.

Now, everything is a single page app, everything runs serial (profiles and messages placed over on top of previous layer).
The old site supported opening many tabs or pop ups, as you liked. I always opened about 10 tabs with guys or old friends I contacted.
Or, on travel in a new city it was good for peeking around a bit in parallel.
This behaviour has all gone.
Now it is all confusing overlays, on my laptop I dont see as much as did before, and I have to switch between message-answering or profile-searching.

Their general UI decision is the major problem.
This design forces user to act as THEY want. Not the flexible way as before.
I have to search where the 'X' is for closing an overlay. I dont understand their UI logic.

With the mobile apps, I also noted that there are millions of new, short lived profiles come and go. This is completely un-interesting. I avoid all new profiles, as most have 0 pics and almost no text written, and they're gone next week. I want 'quality' users, but those decrease.

I'm curious about their user base (real regular users, or paying users, per hour).
I'm curious about average active lifetime of today's user profiles. All short lived?

Current users seem to be short-lived, GRINDR like zombies.
They mostly just ask for my quick pics. It's become a site for quick sex.
That was such a wonderful community site.
Now its all gone, all messed up. Bye, gayromeo.

Terrible new website.

A pity that PlanetRomeo has forced its members to move to a confusing, badly designed, inefficient website. Moreover, the site doesn't load well on mobile devices with small screens.

The website is cluttered, chats poorly organized...but why continue? Assume PlanetRomeo wants its loyal members to move to a competitor.

The new version of Planetromeo is absolutely awful. Why "fix" the classic version when there was nothing to fix. Others have mentioned the numerous deficiencies of the new version all of which I agree with. I imagine that in a year or two the folks at Romeo HQ will get fidgety and bored again and create another messy site which they will claim is wonderful. I feel very sad, but I won't be there to see it as I'm signing off and going elsewhere.

AS other gentlemen have written, they have destroyed a classic, well organised website into a tawdry, messy, shabby over-enthusiastic teeny mess. What a disaster!!!! Well, i wont be renewing my subscription. Romeo was always my favourite but with this shoddy new version they have lost me. Very sad.

I wish there was a way to give a "ZERO" rating! I subscribed to (and paid for) PlanetRomeo because it - the "Classic site" - offered the easiest and most comprehensive search options (by area, by age, etc.). Now PlanetRomeo has kept my money, but eliminated the very reason I went there in the first place. And the graphics look like they were designed by some high-school student, distracting totally from the purpose of the sirte.

Shameful!

Even 1 star is too much token of appreciation; some nutcase @HQ decided let's complicate everybodies life and create a total useless/worthless new version that lacks the normal easy basic fundamentals of people getting in touch with other people....let's create b.s
Well mission accomplished; up to date 74 of my Planet Classic friends have left the site and another larger group is not going to prolong their account; let's all boycot and move to Scruff, Grindr, Bullchat etc.
The owner will feel the result in his wallet ( he's German...so no humour and used to loose on a global front as 2 world-wars still doesn't drop the coin in the brainless heads)

Getting worse.. I cant receive any messages again and the people i send messages dont get it.. Romeo is sucks..

The new website from Planetromeo sucks, this is the worst site ever, I don't know why they don't give us back the old site.
This site is much better. I hate the new site, the search options sucks en I don't understand that after all the bad reviews they still keep that stupid site online. The only thing I can advice is that everyone should delete their profile untill the new site comes back online, like it was before

I was a regular here for about 10y
But to me, there was a degradation of image, service and quality accompanied by an increasing of the cost of plus membership

Impossible to use. I have never visited a worse website. Are they trying to go out of business?

For basic users the new update for viewers limited to 24 hrs. That's sucks

shabby organization, they just use their customers and try to screw them over

For years I have been sidestepping the useless Beta site via the escape route... by clicking go to Classic. This is now being closed down. This so called improved site floods my screen with random profiles I don't want to see... you cannot clearly indicate locations or search preferences or scroll. Yes... they give some exciting destinations .. Rio etc. ... but I want to choose where to search, without changing my location. Amsterdam tech developers should come out of their pink cloud and listen to real... paying by the way... people.

Unacceptable. Do not pay for this service. You can't search for escorts outside your immediate location and other functions don't work.
I am angry these people took my money for a year. If I could give it ) stars I would but thats not possible.
I imagine they will go out of business trying to be a down market grindr which doesn't work.
The whole point of their business model before was being able to search and link up everywhere but not any more.

Used to be great networking site. Now that it pretends to be like Grindr, it just sucks, all the great functions are gone, don't even bother wasting your time there
