All the 1* reviews are true

All the 1* reviews are true - this company is the absolute worst. Did half the job, said they would come and do the rest, never turned up. Kept saying they were coming, or on their way, for 3 days in a row and nothing. Not answering my calls now, picking up and then hanging up. Absolute frauds.

PLEASE AVOID/ MAY ALSO BE UNDER…

PLEASE AVOID/ MAY ALSO BE UNDER PLUMBFORCE DIRECT. came out to my flooded basement in sept 24 as needed drainage specialist. Workman drilled a hole out of my wall by the radiator saying its leak was the issue. Whereas the emergency plumber had said it was not radiator ( as too big a flood and also heating and water fine). No leak found by the wall inside the radiator, so he said he would come back to check things the next day . Company invoiced me £456 for job and any remedial work, but then took £466.80 when I paid online.
They never contacted me back. I chased the company for a week, eventually on 2nd october they send out 2 other guys, who immediately said the problem was definitely not the radiator and was groundwater or pipe issue. They said it was wrong what the previous guy had done, and that they would report back to the company.

I heard nothing back from the company and then for the next week when I tried to call, the main people, Scott or Sylvie would just hang up on me.
I tried to email, no answer.
Aweful, no idea how they get away with this.
I had to pay basement specialists to sort it and still have a big hole in my wall that they made that I’ll need to pay to fix.

🚨 WARNING

🚨 WARNING: READ THIS BEFORE USING PLUMBFORCE DIRECT 🚨

The other reviews are NOT LIEING, THINK BEFORE YOU ENEGAGE WITH THIS SHAM, HORRIED COMPANY, AND THEIR RELATED COMPANIES,

Company: Plumbforce Direct (Plunger.uk.com)
Invoice #: 3240
Date of Experience: 12 March 2025

This is a formal warning to any potential customers considering this company. Proceed with extreme caution.

I was charged £630 for a job that was incomplete, poorly handled, and entirely unprofessional. The engineers displayed inappropriate behaviour, used foul language, and lacked basic courtesy. Despite promising a return visit with necessary parts, no one came back. To make matters worse, my heating failed completely following their visit.

I was repeatedly promised a full refund by a representative named Scott, yet no refund has ever been issued. Every follow-up has been met with excuses, conflicting information, and eventually, complete silence. My calls have now been blocked, and my emails are being ignored.

As of 9 April 2025, I am still chasing the refund and receiving no communication. I will now be escalating the issue to the following:

🚨 WARNING

🚨 WARNING: AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS! 🚨
This is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with. I was overcharged for a boiler service—£263.40 instead of the agreed £58.80—and despite countless phone calls and follow-ups (name of the guy is Scott), they have refused to refund my money! Their customer service is an absolute joke, unhelpful, and completely unresponsive.

At this point, I believe this company is running a scam, taking customers’ money and refusing to issue refunds. They do not care about their customers and seem to have no integrity whatsoever. Do NOT trust them, do NOT give them your money, and do NOT make the same mistake I did!

I am reporting them to Trading Standards, Citizens Advice, and Action Fraud for their unethical and potentially fraudulent business practices. If you value your time, money, and sanity—stay FAR AWAY from this company!

Do NOT trust

I called Plunger out to investigate water leakage in my flat in December, they told me my boiler was leaking and needed to be replaced. As the situation was urgent I asked them to proceed, but after they replaced the boiler the leak was not resolved and a different source was found. Despite multiple requests to send photos of the crack in the cylinder they refused to do so.

They then did not provide the promised certificate of warranty that I requested in repeated emails, messages and calls to management across a period of months.

Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs. Plunger owes a refund of an overcharge. They arrived at my house, took one look at the boiler, said it was broken and immediately started pressuring me to buy a new one, which I declined. The insistence that I order a new boiler there and then was immense and I was home alone with my baby and just wanted them to leave. They then asked for payment on site, which was £191 over the quoted call out price. They said they would refund me the additional cost if I decided not to go ahead with a boiler with Plunger. Subsequently, I called their office to request the refund only to be hung up on, passed around and eventually they blocked my number. I've seen via other reviews that this is a common practice at Plunger, I wish I'd read these reviews before engaging with them. I am now seeking escalation via Trading Standards and Actuon Fraud.

Hard sell and fake positive reviews!

They hard sell the £49+VAT and avoid discussing possible further charges, slick and pushy. All their 5-star reviews sound fake and generic. I cancelled my booked appointment immediately!

We appreciate you taking time to comment on your booking experience with our CSA. As all calls are recorded we decided to listen to the call to quality check it.

Our CSA did in fact offer you the discounted price of £49 + VAT, without any pushy sell, for a Saturday morning appointment. The scope of service within that price was clearly defined and also what the process would be if there was a different level of repair required i.e when that price may change.

Are we slick ? Absolutely as that is the role of our CSAs

Are we pushy ? No. Our CSA role is to give all the information so you can decide if you want to book - which you did.

Our Business Support team flagged your review with Trustpilot simply as you make a statement in your title that our positive reviews are fake. You have no basis for that inaccurate statement.

We hope that you managed to get your plumbing issue resolved to your satisfaction. Kind regards Sophie @ Customer Support

Very High Prices Quoted

I contacted this Plunger Ltd to arrange a cylinder service. The plumber arrived on time, then called the office to find out how much he should charge. I was quoted two wildly high prices exclusive of VAT for two types of service. Calculating VAT, I was left in disbelief at the astronomical prices (£358 and £466) so decided to leave it.

By now, I’m getting the distinct impression prices are based on how much the boss thinks the buyer can afford. So rather than leave with just a call-out fee, the plumber tells me he’ll phone the office to see if the boss will do a better price. He quotes another set of prices.

Note to self: read reviews before phoning for a plumber next time. Noted link with PlumbingForce as someone already mentioned.

Anyway, the plumber reset the pressure and checked pipes. He advised fitting a limescale inlet filter and a new stopcock to the cylinder. Quoted £250 and £170 / 200 + VAT. This work could be done now if I wanted. In hindsight, I wisely decided against this.

The plumber does not appear to be very experienced in unvented systems as when asked if the drip from the bathroom tap was related. No, it was the cartridge. He advised new taps. By coincidence, the tap has stopped dripping after his visit! and no longer makes a noise. Hope this lasts.

There was pressure to pay by BACS and not credit card as displayed on their website. Worryingly, plumber had to phone boss again to find out which company invoice to use! Plumber wanted signature on the invoice against credit card payment to authorise Plunger Ltd to debit my account! I had to point out this was not necessary and did not sign.

Definitely AVOID using this company.

AVOID!

My boiler was leaking water so they came out and without even looking where the water was coming from, they just said I needed a new boiler for £3,000, charged me almost £100 for the visit and left. I called BritishGas and they repaired it in 30 minutes for £100. I emailed them asking for a refund and they disappeared.
EDIT (March 13, 2025): after many attempts to speak with them, they blocked my number. I previously managed to speak with them, promised a refund that never came in, I've been hung up on multiple times by multiple people. This is disrespectful, unprofessional and very rude. I don't know how a company like this can still operates. A disgrace.

Good morning and thank you for raising your concerns. I can see you were made aware there has not been approval for your refund and based on the following.
The charge you paid was for us to send a qualified engineer to assess, advise and fix as a small parts repair if we could warranty that repair. There are various factors that led to us recommending a new boiler installation and we discussed that with you whilst there. You are of course under no obligation to proceed with further work however we don't attend for free.

British Gas operate a different business model with support contracts - we don't provide this type of service.

Please call on 020 3764 0864 if you wish to discuss this further. Kind regards Sophie

Never showed up

Called them on Saturday. They said that they can help and will send someone between 9 and 11 am. Nobody came. Called at 11am and they said they will call engineer and call me back in 2 min. No call. Called them at 11:15, no response. Called them at 11:30, no response. My tenant called them and they said they are sending someone and hung up. They never picked up any further calls from me or my tenant. Don’t get it but after reading the reviews here, maybe I’m lucky that they never turned up.

AVOID - scam

At the start of January I hired a plumber through plunger uk and paid a deposit of £300 after they turned up and said I needed a pump replacing for my heating, which they then ordered. I have no email receipt of this, despite asking for one at the time and following up on this ask.

They promised to get in contact once the pump arrived to arrange a time to fit it, and said they expected this would be the next day. However they never got in touch and the man who came round ignored my attempts to get in contact.

After speaking to a man called Scott in their offices they arranged someone to come round 3 further times but each time never showed up!

I have therefore been trying to get my deposit back but most times they have hung up on me at the point they ask for my card details. At one point I managed to give them my card details but then no money was returned and no email confirmation came despite me ringing back up and requesting this email. I have also followed up over email but had no response.

This’s is unprofessional and unacceptable. A reputable company should either provide the service they promised or refund the money. Instead, they took my deposit and disappeared.

I strongly advise others to stay away from them unless you want to waste your time and money. If they resolve this issue, I will update my review.

If I do not hear back from them shortly I will also be reporting them to the various consumer protection and fraud authorities and taking legal action.

Worst experience ever

I had a problem so called Plunger. An engineer informed me it would cost around £850 for parts and labour to fix, and I had to pay half up front. They came to do the work, and said in fact they had been wrong the first time round, and there were so many problems I could risk trying to fix it or, if I agreed then and there, they would take the original £850 off a new boiler. I knew it was possibly a scam, but decided it was probably worth getting a new boiler. They fitted it, it still didn't work. Turned out the boiler they fit isn't compatible with my existing thermostat. I asked if this is a problem that happens sometimes and they said yes, but they hadn't checked, and would replace the thermostat for no extra cost. For weeks now, they have made appointments and not shown up, ignored my calls, hung up on me, promised to call back and never have, said on one occasion the engineer was 10 minutes away when there was no engineer booked. This has been a nightmare. My boiler is outside and can only be operated (heat turned on and off by going outside and manually turning it on - when it is dark by 4:30). It's constantly cold. They have taken thousands of pounds, promised to fix the work, and just won't. An engineer said he'd come today. More than two hours ago he said he was an hour away, but is now ignoring calls. That is the fourth missed/ignored appointment. Avoid for your own financial protection.

UPDATE: Someone from the company eventually turned up and fixed the thermostat. They had said they would be there between 2pm and 4pm, but arrived closer to 7pm, but hopefully this weeks' long nightmare is over.

I have had the worst experience I have…

I have had the worst experience I have ever experienced as this company should have been removed long time ago had everyone who had been scammed by them have taken a legal action against them. They deceived me to take morey for boiler repair after I called them and agreed to repair my boiler for £49+VAT only and when they arrived they told me I ah e to pay £576 and they will come back to do the work next day. I told them that is not what was agreed over the phone and I can only pay £49+VAT or they have to leave and they fused and insisted to pay them what he asked for. I offered them to pay £49+VAT as a call out charge although that amount was agreed to repair my boiler. Long story short they made me pay the amount whey demanded as they refused to leave with £49+VAT and they were blocking my flat. After making the payment, I called their boss Scott who is a big lier to cancel the job and refund me fully or take £49+VAT as I offered his colleagues after explaining to him that the have been misleading me and scared unprofessionally and scary and so on, which he refused to accept but he agreed to send me a full refund within 30 to 40 mins which did not happen although I waited for one to two days and after that I was calling each day but eh keep hung up the pie on me and finally they blacked my number. When I called from a friend number, they answered as they thought I was a new customer they can play games with but when they found out it was me they beloved that number as well and finally I called from another number and gave them a warning that I will take a legal action but Scott the liar hung up on me and I immediately applied to a court to bring them to justice recover my money that I earned from work unlike them who wanted to literally steal my money without giving any service. I encourage everyone who suffered humiliation and other bad experiences and lost money because of this scammer company who should not exist in the first place and be removed form company house had any one took action against them. All the best.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANYDO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! This is an updated review following the post on 07.11.24. This company have still not refunded the money I paid to them despite it being now over two months since they unlawfully took my funds. I have been without heating all this time.
I have called them, sent emails and pleaded for help without success. They simply respond to my posts with we do not know the person called ‘Stephen’. I am posting from my father’s account ‘Stephen’ and they know this. They are trying (again) to mislead. They know my name is Jack M and they attended my flat in at Matilda gardens, Bow on 01.10.24 and asked for a payment on account of £336. They then did NOT do the work. I have called them and either had the phone deliberately put down or been lied to by Scott, who they seem to use to avoid payment. I emailed them on 25.10.24 at 15.52 and they replied (see below). Rather than simply stating that they do not have a customer called Stephen (my father) just read your emails for that date and you will see one form Jack M. I do not have an invoice number because they never gave me one!! They never came to do the work so how can I have an involve!!
HOW LONG WILL THEY LEAVE ME IN THIS STATE WITHOUT HEARTING? I have lodged a complaint with trading standards and am taking court proceedings/
PLEASE STAY AWAY FORM THIS COMPANY AND PLUNGER LIMITED – they will take your money and not perform the work leaving you in a horrible state.

Would not recommend this company

Would not recommend this company! They charged us £3300 for a boiler installation and installed a very cheap boiler. The boiler never worked and the two engineers that fitted it never came back to fix the issue. No refund was issued. I contacted the manufacturer who could not service the boiler due to being 'at risk' (not installed correctly). Had to fit a brand new boiler instead.

FRAUDULENT SCAMMERS AVOID!!!!

AVOID THIS FRADULENT COMPANY BY ALL MEANS. I always review companies prior to using them and I am kicking myself that I did not do this here as would have been prepared and NEVER of given them a penny had I of seen these scammers reviews!!!

The guy that they sent to do the job said it would cost £300 pounds, I then said that seemed to high so I would rather get another quote he convinced me that no one will do it cheaper, within 24 hours the boiler was not working again. I call them straight back and Scott who lied and told me someone would return to fix on 3 occasion's. Why he would make someone miss three days off work CLEARLY knowing no one is coming is beyond me!!

The so called engineers that come out are also working in the scam as he was also trying to get a call out fee ontop of the £300. He called me twice trying to get more money whilst at the property to which I said no!

I am now having to pay someone else twice to carry out the same job that was not carried out waiting in for three days in which Scott lied and said someone would return to carry out.

I spoke to five other plumbers who advised a brand new part and labour should not of amounted to this cost whatsoever much less them replacing nothing and claiming to have done work.

I have everything recorded and documented and I am currently putting through paperwork to the courts, they will be paying back for the money they ripped off me along with work days rate for not attending along with the stress and all inconveniences caused for waiting in and no one turning up.

I then asked for my money to be refunded back and was told by Scott he is not giving me my money back. I am also going to call the bank now to report this fraudulent transaction.

I will be reporting them to every possible platform to apply action against fraudulent companies and the trading standards agency.

Please do not take this review lightly in 2024 I am soo shocked to see a fraudulent company acting so boldly. I will be pushing for criminal convictions against all involved at this company.

Please also put your reviews on Yell for this fraudulent Company.

I am really the wrong person to try to do this too!
