Low Quality, Faulty

A lot of the products they carry are really low quality. Bin lid snapped off, plastic tub warped, packing tape was so weak it kept breaking while I tried to pull it off the roll.

Mistreated staff

Treatment of staff in this place is horrific, deliberately employs young people in order to pay minimum wage then make them stand outside whilst the key holder turns up late then deducts half an hour's wages for clocking in late. Constant threats to staff of wage reductions and breaking the law by not supplying breaks. No training given then a public telling off for doing things wrong. Management need a taste of their own medicine and see how they like getting paid £2 for an hour's session of being bullied.
Not surprising you can't find an email address for HR, they probably wouldn't have enough time in the day to answer the barrage of complaints of mistreatment.
Update, not paid for a months worth of shifts and HR don't answer the phone!
Don't work for poundstretcher!!!!

Going Downhill

I agree this company has gone downhill. Yes the price of everything has gone up everywhere but they are still leaving the old pricing labels on display even after it has been brought to their attention. I have written Customer Services had 2 e-mails which totally missed the point, which leads me to believe that this incorrect pricing is deliberate!!!!! Same as when they had the half price sale, they put things up a week before to cover the cost of the half price!!! Come on where are you Trading Standards. It used to be an amazing shop! Cant see them lasting long. I will never set foot in another Poundstretcher or Bargain Buys again.

No what it used to be

Poundstretcher used to be a great chain. Their offer was limited, but you could find reasonably priced stuff. Not anymore. They are now more expensive than many major retail chains for the items they sell.

We all understand the cost of living crisis affecting everyone globally. However, Poundstretcher appear to have jumped on the band wagon with some horrendous price increases. 50 - 75% price increases in 6 months is common.

It is unfortunate. I won't return to Pounstretcher as there is simply no point.

I went into the local (Leven

I went into the local (Leven, Fife) poundstretcher store today for the first time in months, this store is disgusting. The handrails on the stairs are filthy, dirt & grime and sticky. Clumps of dust and dirt lying at the bottom of these same stairs, litter lying on the floor in parts of the store I won't be back in this store again

£1.00 items now £1.50…

Went to local store to buy kitchen refuse bags with label from previous purchase so as to get same item. Label has £1.00 actually printed on it. No price on new stock. Gave them £1.00 and they now want £1.50. They have gone up 50% so dont believe them when they say prices have gone up 10% to 15%. Cashing in on the cost of living price increases. Beware. Last time I go there.

Polite helpful staff at store I visit

Not keen on the store itself or the products so only shop occasionally for items like bin bags or pens/notebooks etc. However I awarded 4 stars solely on the service from a staff member from Kirkintilloch store as he is amazingly polite and helpful.

Don't fall for their "big sale" its a con

Up until February i was buying cloud e liquid regularly for 99p.
Then the price rose to £1.79 when they started their 50% off sale, meaning instead of it being 50p, it was 90p meaning only 10p saving and not 50%.

Poundstretcher categorically denied raising their prices before this scam of a sale started.

Once the sale ended, hey presto, the e liquid is back down in price albeit now £1.

Scottish bank notes ARE LEGAL TENDER!

Bought a number of items at your Newtown (Powys) branch. All was well until we tried to pay using Scottish bank notes. The staff refused to accept them despite us stating they were legal tender. We were embarrassed by this rejection and made to feel that we were the guilty party! Get your act together Poundstretcher - it is an offence for you to reject these as they are perfectly legal. _

Prices not correct rip off.

I was in the Dumfries store today as I received a brochure through the post at least two items we picked up were more expensive in store than was shoes in the brochure. The manager said she couldn't override the price I worked in retail for years and never had that problem. Load of rubbish.

Foul language from poundstretcher management

Terrible service from a so called duty manager at the Kew retail Southport.in his own words don't f....ING care that we had been waiting a ridiculous length of time for him to get an outside dining set worth £900 from the warehouse. Sent a complaint to head office only to receive a standard computer generated reply. This company don't care about its customers and in this challenging time in retail there are plenty of other companies ie The Range/Wilko where you would not receive such terrible service

Pound stretcher purchase

I recently went into a pound stretcher store 20 miles from my own town. I purchased a solar light which did not work after a few days. I of course had a receipt but after some time in the store the young man at the till was unable to process the transaction , his manager told him to tell me that I needed to go back to the other store I was given an incorrect slip of paper with the wrong email address and ended up having to phone what a shambles and seriously why would I spend time and fuel to get back to Newbury 20 miles when my local store how ridiculous
