Scammers! They have now changed their name to UK Service Plan and are requesting upfront payment for a new 3-year appliance-insurance policy when the old one was supposed to be valid until 2023.

Thieves

Tried to take a payment from my mothers account yesterday luckily Santander were on the case and this was declined due to an attempt a couple of years ago (clearly the company keeps card details to try again when they have duped someone).
Spoken to Fraud at Santander as I am the appointee on the account and any associated companies are also blocked.
Be careful these people are preying on the old and vulnerable.

Despicable Scam…

This afternoon I was checking our appliance insurance with Domestic and General, a company we have used for several years. They phoned me back and gave a long persuasive spiel about insuring for a longer period than one year and how it would save money. It then transpired that the company was PremierProtect 365 apparently based in Brighton and not Domestic and General. Had we not checked this website we could have parted with £900 today for a scam company.
My question is how does a company like this prey on older people like myself? I was looking at appliance insurance and they seemed to know this. Is there a data protection issue here?
I am certainly going to take this further. Already we have alerted our bank, NT West to this company and I intend to write to Watchdog to alert other people likely to caught up with this scam

Parasites

My dad, who has since died, was tricked into taking out £700 of policies which he didn't need. At the time they called he had just left hospital and was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's (but still wanted to manage his own affairs). Before he died I took Power of Attorney and noticed the payments. I rang them to ask for a refund. I was promised this would happen but it didn't. I rang again, just after he died and their excuse was that they rang back to check and he said he wanted to continue- they may well have made that call but they knew he had dementia. When we were sorting through his things we found a note with a 'script' they must have given him to call the bank to authorise the direct debit.

Again they promised me a refund and it has not arrived.

I have written to BBC Watchdog/Rogue Traders please can other people do the same so that we get the numbers to justify an investigation. These people need closing down quickly.

Premier Protect Insurance scam

Premier Protect Insurance scam
01273 977 432
They tried to sell me washing machine cover. They tried on Friday 7/8/20 and again on a Saturday. They offered me free cover for a tumble drier, cooker, fridge freezer and microwave oven. They had the make of my washing machine, my full name, full address, the last 4 digits of my credit card and its expiry date and asked me to confirm the rest of the credit card details. They knew I hadn't made a claim before. They must have got these details from Domestic and General Insurance who I had my insurance with. I said I would give them the details once I got the new paperwork. They wouldn't send me any paperwork until, they said, I had given them the rest of my credit card details. I said no paperwork, no more credit card details. He put the phone down on me. I checked their name Premier Protect on Trust Pilot. There are dozens of complaints saying scam.

SHARKS!!!

One word for this company - SHARKS!!

If there was a facility here I wouldn’t give them one star. They prey on the elderly and vulnerable and are despicable. I have reported them to my Dad’s Bank and Action Fraud and only hope they are shut down.

Unfortunately my Dad at 89 and has Alzheimer’s fell victim to their very persuasive patter and paid two installments of £295 and £200 for a three year multi plan policy for his white goods, which was invalid not only unnecessary but the appliances were over 15 years old.

The staff are Eastern European and very persuasive who wear you down with their patter. They also change their name for some reason, known as Premier Protect 36 and Premier Protect Holdings 365. Unfortunately I didn’t pick up on the first installment but phoned them to cancel the policy on the date the second payment was taken. They wouldn’t accept the cancellation and tried to persuade me to continue with the policy and even ‘threw in’ extra appliances as a ‘gesture of goodwill’ and basically tried to worm their way out of issuing a refund.

After two months of several phone calls and lies on their part I finally received a refund of £395 but even then they tried to take a cancellation fee. I insisted on the agreed refund be paid into the bank account immediately and it was only after phoning the Banks fraud line the refund suddenly appeared.

DO NOT HAVE ANY DEALINGS WITH THIS COMPANY, THEY ARE ABSOLUTE CROOKS.

This company managed to convince my 80+…

This company managed to convince my 80+ year old mother that she needed insurance for her kitchen white goods even though they are all still under warranty. They took £295 from her account. To date there has been no paperwork sent out, her 14 day cooling off period which one assumes she is entitled to is rolling on and there is no way of cancelling the policy as the phone numbers provided (Brighton area code) are never answered! Apparently the company is based in Spain which differs from into on its website which shows it’s in north London!
Currently a merchant dispute is being perused via her bank.
What an absolutely shameless bunch of crooks. Fleecing elderly and vulnerable people out of their pension.

Premier Protect

Similar experience to other reviewers. Called by someone called Oliver, apparently from a Brighton (01273) number on 28/7/20. Told him I was busy working from home, and that if this related to renewal of insurance he should send information in the post for me to review. He rang again today. Same script: You qualify for a 35% discount, so you will only pay £495 for three years' cover, etc.
I asked him to explain the link between Premier Protect and Domestic & General, which covers our appliances, and his explanation was thoroughly unconvincing (essentially 'we work with them and look after the discounts'!). I therefore Googled Premier Protect, read the TrustPilot feedback and told him not to call again.
Beware!

Fortunately bank stopped fraudulent payment

Unsolicited call to my vulnerable elderly father who was foolish enough to fall for it. Fortunately the bank spotted likely fraudulent payment on his card and put a hold on it until it was verified, so we were able to stop the payment of £199 via power of attorney. The washing machine he was scammed into insuring is not worth £199! Insurance that costs more than the goods themselves, I hope these fraudsters are closed down before anyone else falls for the scam.

This is a scam - avoid

I just intercepted a call to my 93 year old father from these scammers. They wanted £495 for 3 year cover for 4 appliances. They are very convincing and will provide a phone number to call them back, which does work. The incoming phone call came from a Brighton number, although that is also likely a scam.

I have just received a call from this company.

I have just received a call from this company. They are very convincing. I was told that my existing insurance policy covering my fridge and washing machine is up for renewal. As I haven't made a claim under the existing policy I'm eligible for a 35% discount. The cost is £295 which will cover me for 36 months. I was asked to confirm my contact details and 'railroaded along' by a very persuasive operator. Then I was asked to hold whilst I was passed to another operator with an Eastern European accent who was just building up to asking me for the payment details, when I stopped him. I said that I didn't actually remember the existing policy they were referring to and I would need time to look for last year's paperwork. I also told him that I have a personal rule never to give out my card details over the telephone unless I have contacted the company involved myself. Sure enough - I was unable to find any record of an existing policy with Premier Protect so I googled the name and found all of these warnings on Trustpilot. I'm sure that many people are being conned by this company.

Polite staff and understanding

Although it was frustrating waiting for information on our claim for a new washing machine as my dads was beyond repair, I understand that these are very difficult times with limited staff. In the end my dad bought a new machine as couldn't wait and they were so helpful on the phone and refunded him the money. Really impressed as I know looking at the small print companies do not have to refund if you buy an item yourself.

Premier Protect 365 bad bad bad

Domestic and General, the Police and Google all verify that this company is not trustworthy and is classified as a Scam company who takes the payment of £195 up front for 3 years white goods insurance cover. I'm so grateful I was advised against using them before it was too late. I have had to cancel the credit card they were going to use though and they tried to use it without my telephone verification even after the bank had cancelled it!!

Unsolicited call to my 88 year old…

Unsolicited call to my 88 year old mother. They proceeded to sell her insurance for her washing machine, microwave and fridge freezer for £395 for 2 yrs (inc 1 yr free!) DESPITE her telling them that my sister and I have power of attorney. They told her they would not take the money until she received paperwork. Once she told me, I had it checked at the bank and they have taken her money. Now in the process of trying to contact them for a refund. No answer, just rings and then cuts off. PLEASE WARN ELDERLY ABOUT THIS COMPANY they come across as lovely people and prey on the vulnerable.😡
