Unbelievably well organized trips for (mature) teens. Our daughter traveled with Projects Abroad two summers in a row (South America, Asia). Projects Abroad kept us well informed, and we knew her to be well-supported in the field. The experiences were truly life-changing.

My 16-year old learned a lot during her volunteering in Kenya. More than she ever would at school or in her own "rich" environment. Projects abroad is a very good organization to thrust my child to.

My daughter had such a great experience with Projects Abroad! She felt safe, made new friends, and received tremendously valuable exposure to the medical field, with hands-on learning in several different specialties.

My son's experience with Projects Abroad exceeded our expectations. He attended the Medical Internship for Teens in Cusco, Peru, last summer. In the research phase of looking for a summer program, I found the representatives at Projects Abroad to be extraordinarily helpful with answering all of my nit-picky questions about the experience. They were thoughtful, patient, clear communicators. After registering my son, we were guided through the process of preparing for his trip, using the online portal (which provides a lot of detailed information) and communicating with representatives via phone calls and emails. We were well taken care of throughout. My son came back from the Peru with a multitude of stories that he still shares today. He spoke Spanish a ton. He gained a great deal of knowledge from the different workshops and clinics, positively influencing his interest in the medical world. He liked his host mother, who was very enthusiastic and friendly. He relished the new experiences and couldn't get enough of them--with Machu Picchu being a major highlight of the trip. He liked the other teens on the program, who came from other parts of the U.S. He loved it so much that we are sending him on another Projects Abroad program this summer--to the Philippines!

Our daughter's experience in Peru was exactly what he wanted - to get out her comfort zone and experience a new culture and the many differences. We also believe that this experience materially bolstered her college applications and complemented her other experiences in the field of health care.

An amazing educational, cultural and worldly experience for my daughter.
Highly recommended.
I appreciated the mix of responsibilities and freedoms that she experienced.
Some of the travel arrangements for under age participant was a little complicated but manageable.

My daughter, who had just finished her sophomore year did two weeks in Ghana at a hospital.
She absolutely loved her experience. She had real responsibilities at the hospital, in different wards and roles.
Great exposure to the doctors and nurses and patients.
We were really impressed by Project Abroad as they were amazing giving us great information, followed up and made it easier to accept that our daughter would be ok. This was the first time our daughter travelled abroad by herself.
The whole process from applying to flights to pick up in Ghana and housing was seamless.
I strongly endorse Project Abroad!

My daughter had a wonderful time on the program.
She learned so much and formed some great friendships along the way. I was initially hesitant to send her overseas on her own, but she has returned home with a real sense of maturity and a strong drive to pursue both medicine and future travel.
Some of her highlights included stitching on pig legs and performing ultrasounds, which she found incredibly valuable and engaging.
Although her host didn’t speak English, this actually helped her to learn the language more quickly and build confidence in communicating.
I would recommend this program to anyone considering it.

My daughter really enjoyed the experience. The coordinators, supervisors and volunteers were wonderful.
Some more hands on experience/access would have been appreciated.

Communication from Projects Abroad team was excellent. We received regular emails advising what was required, or, if we needed questions answered, we had direct contact with a team member. Our daughter's time in Cambodia was extremely well managed. Visiting Angor Wat was a highlight. The time spent in the hospital certainly has encouraged our daughter to aim for a career in the medical field.

Right from the beginning when I was researching the volunteer project for my son the team was so helpful and they continued to be throughout the whole process. My son had the most amazing experience, made life-long friends and has returned home more confident and excited about future travel and opportunities. I personally want to say a massive thank you to Sunny who was the groups chaperone on the ground. My son truly felt supported by her and her local knowledge just made the groups experience even better. Being a part of this project is something that my son will cherish and talk about for the rest of his life

I think it is really good experience to meet other country friends and go to hospital.

Projects Abroad left a lasting impression on me. Their conservation efforts are fascinating, especially the positive impact they're having on the local community through their mangrove projects. The program was well-organized, offering a nice mix of scheduled activities and opportunities to relax, whether at the beach or by the pool.

My daughter joined from Japan. She is 17 years old, and has her very own world, only few friends always, which had been making her very satisfied, but she asked me she wanted to join a volunteer group in overseas at the beginning of last autumn. As I don't have any friend who had sent their kids to overseas like this way, I found some volunteer group on internet, and tried to check detai. I needed time before I deicded "THIS!!!" because the most important thing to send my own child to overseas alone is "The group can ensure my girl's perfect safety in the country which has a bit of a reputation for being unsafe. So, I asked many questions to Japan branches of some organizations. Then , the stuff of Project Abroad branch answerd very detail even if I asked over and over again. The reason which made me to choose Project Abroad is because this organization is the one which Japdnese kids can use their rights of TOBITATE which is Japanese Government Scholarship, which means Japanese Government knows this organization is safe. And one more reason is high school volunteers' schedule in Cambodia. It was two weeks (Jan. 4th-17th) tour, so kids has one weekend. I worried how my daughter needed to spend 2 days without adults, but they had a weenend trip to Angkor Wat and around it. Kids could learn Cambodian history and enjoyed the tour with new friends from other countries. Some other reasons are following.
My daughter told me that even when volunteer kids went to the convenienced store next to the hotel they stay, 3 adult escorts took students. Kids are always safe with escorts.
Usually, roommate is from different country, but my girl's roommate wanted to stay with her friend from same high school of same country, then escorts allowed them to change roommates, and my girl shared the room with Japanes same age girl. First, I thought it's a pity because my girl lost the chance to speak English with her roommate, but my girl and her roommate can talk about entering to university next year, and could change many different kinds of informations they had. She said it was also good to share the room with the same nationalist because it makes their 2 weeks life in overseas easier as they has almost same way of thinking and habits as same nationalists. Cambodian people are vey faithful, but also have very flexible thinking, which helps kids mind very peaceful.
Lastly, I'd like to shere my daughter's experience in her words with you.
"It was a fantastic experience!!! Kids at elementary school were all so adorable, and I learnt Cambodian history and life very naturally. Project Abroad kept us so safe more than you thought, Mom!!! I noticed I needed to learn the country's history and culture before I visit them, so that I could communicate with people better, or explain surely about Japan or Japanese if they misunderstood us. Project Abroad gave me a great surprise!!!"
I really appreciate you all, Project Abroad!!!
