Shark conservation in Fiji was a spectacular experience to me, especially being amazed by how I become really close friends with other fellow volunteers, and got to dedicate a lot of effort onto mangrove restoration, coral/species identification, and the renowned shark dive. Last time, I had the opportunity to participate in reef conservation at Koh Tao, Thailand. Though both of the experience were amazing, I loved more of how I could form a cute family with people around me~

First of all, it was a good trip for me and had lots of fun.We had plenty of activities in the weekends but I was bored in the weekdays during the program. There were nothing to do after school. Also in my school we didn't do anything exept for just watching the children.Other schools did things like painting or things, but we didn't.I wanted to do something that I can't usually do. We didn't know when to go home because the last kid goes hone at like3 or 4pm.This was also boring. We couldn’t go out so much because we were still kids and our host mother wasn’t home every time.Even we got out, there was just shops like those in Japan.I wanted more activities from the project abroad. And the most thing I wanna say is that I wanted to stay in the village. It was completely different and I wanted to feel more FIJI. In a bad meaning it was too comfortable in the town and had small differences from Japan.I heard that they had more interaction with the villagers and had many experiences.
Though I tried hard to make my time better and we could do that just by moving by our selves. That was a good experience for me but also there were limits too.

The people their made it a truly great experience, they were so friendly and interesting so everything became much better. Each day had exiting and enjoyable activities and many you really felt made a difference. With amazing landscapes and wildlife creating an awesome atmosphere and experience. Despite long and bumpy drives that had great wildlife spotting opportunity but took up a lot of the day. As well as not being able to do some things because of timing constraints and weather.

Very well organized and easy to understand. Great for people who don't have any volunteering experience.

Recently, I had the opportunity to travel to Cambodia with Projects Abroad. I participated in the 2-Week Care and Community Special Project “HSS Care,” which began on July 6, 2025, and lasted for two weeks. I was a little apprehensive, even though, being French, I was reassured because I knew there would be many other French people there, as a staff member who answered all my questions before I left had told me. During my flight to get there, I even had the chance to meet other volunteers who were participating in the same mission as me. Upon arrival, staff members were there to welcome us, and they were very friendly. After a short ride in the decorated minibus that would follow us throughout our stay, we arrived at the hotel. I really wasn't expecting such a hotel! I thought we would end up in a dingy hotel on the outskirts of Phnom Penh, but in the end we were in the heart of the capital in a perfectly decent hotel. From the very first dinner, there was a great atmosphere and everyone was talking to everyone else, getting to know who they would be spending the rest of their stay with. The mission took place on Silk Island in the middle of the Mekong River at Koh Dach Primary School. So every morning we had a short bus ride with a ferry to get there, which was very pleasant with the music and atmosphere in the minibuses. You can't imagine what an extraordinary experience it was, almost more memorable than a hyper-luxury trip. The kids ran to us from day one. Every morning when we went to school, they were so cheerful despite their poverty and it was a real pleasure to keep them occupied with games for half of the day. The other half of the day, we were in charge of renovating the school. For example, we planted grass and trees, built concrete walls, flagstones and swings, and repainted. For meals, we changed restaurants every day in the evenings, and the food was always very good, with plenty of choice. And on weekends, evenings and times out of school, lots of activities were organized and we sometimes had free time. As for safety, we were always accompanied by a member of staff. The hotel we stayed in during our trip to Angkor was really great, with a rooftop swimming pool and a great atmosphere.I've tried to be as complete as possible, because I know that you can be a little stressed before you leave, or even not sure you're leaving with the right agency. But believe me, this will be one of the best trips of your life, one that will warm your heart and make you feel like you're doing good. Excuse my English, I'm French after all.

Best month of my life so far, hands down. I was lucky enough to spend 4 weeks in Tanzania on a medical internship, and never have I been more heartbroken to leave a place. Those 4 weeks reminded me why it is I want to study medicine, they gave me a true ‘why’ for the career I want to follow. Because I have every intention to come back, where instead of just observing, I can actually help.
I have never felt more welcome in a place, instantly, I as made to feel like I belonged there. My host family became a home away from home, the Projects Abroad staff became my mentors, my fellow interns, some of my coolest friends. The people I met while working or out on the weekend trips will remain in some of my fondest memories even if I never see them again.
I experienced so much, from spending a week in the Paediatric ICU, to working at outreaches where we saw over 100 patients, to watching a surgery on a 11 day old girl. Every day was new and challenged me differently, opening my eyes just a little bit more. Every moment I experienced left its impact on me, being immersed in a society and systems so different to those I grew up in.
These four weeks have left me more aware, more empathetic, but also more determined, and encouraged by humanity. I have realised how important it is to enjoy the little moments in life, that you just have to smile anyway.
So thank you to the Projects Abroad team who work so hard to make this all possible, you are amazing. Shout out to Dr Kassu, Jessica and Giver, who became my mentors, Danny, who always brings joy wherever he is and knows exactly how to appear at the right time, and of course Country Director Glory Matoi, for saving me through a near panic attack getting a visa, and just being the awesome person who makes sure everything is running smoothly. Thank you to Jovita and James, my beautiful host parents. I will come back to visit all of you, that, I promise.

I loved my experience in Tanzania! I made amazing friends and seriously had a once in a lifetime experience getting to learn about medicine up close and see all the beautiful things Tanzania has to offer! I seriously recommend to everyone--I was nervous at first to be so far from home for 4 weeks but this project genuinely changed my life

We were able to do volunteer work for children with 7 members. We tried painting, planting, playing with children, and so on. Also, we could experience KAVA and LOVO.

This was one of the best experiences I have ever had. It was definitely "back to basics:", but that seemed to all be part of the fun. The staff were amazing. Nothing was ever too much trouble. They gave us useful information about the animals, and to be able to see so many animals, reasonably close by was magical. I also enjoyed the projects helping villagers. It made me feel welcome and useful

Just finished 2 weeks in Cambodia for 15-18 year olds. The itinerary was super organised with buses for us all time and 3 free meals a day. The staff were all very friendly and helpful especially Sambath who went above and beyond into looking after us. Made a lot of lifelong friends and memories and the volunteering was super fun. Trip to Siem Reap was also amazing.

The experience was really eye-opening for me. It gave me amazing insight into what it is like to be a part of the Nepalese health care system. I would definitely choose Projects Abroad again if I could.

Good service
I was able to go to various hospitals, and they responded quickly when I contacted them on my smartphone.
However, the schedule often changed, so I wish they had informed me in advance. Also, I wish they had provided a support person when visiting the hospital.

My son gained a tremendous amount from his time in Ghana with Projects Abroad, making new friends and learning a new culture. He is now looking at how to build bridges with Ghana after this fantastic experience.

We sent our teenage son (16) for 2 weeks to the Taricaya Reserve in the Amazon jungle in Peru. We availed of the Projects Abroad chaperone service which gave us great peace of mind. Prior to him leaving, Projects Abroad replied quickly to any queries we had. They’re very organised and efficient. He was very well looked after from start to finish. He felt so safe and we had no concerns about his well-being while he was away. He really liked the team in his project and found it to be a really enriching experience. He learnt so much about life in the Amazon and came home with a deeper appreciation of the natural world. He loved seeing parrots, monkeys and other animals in their natural habitat. He had great stories for us when he got home!
I would have no hesitancy in recommending the Projects Abroad program for teenagers, it’s just wonderful.

Being able to explore the town and observe all of the wildlife was a once in a lifetime experience that I couldn’t recommend more. The host family was very hospitable and the staff at the reserve was very kind. The only issue I had was with the showers at the reserve, since some have very low hot water pressure which made it hard to wash my hair. I would recommend bringing dry shampoo.

Our son had a fantastic time in the Galápagos Islands!! We weren’t sure to send him there when he asked us, as it’s far away from the UK, however Projects Abroad’s Jessica gave us lots of information whenever we contacted her to ensure everything went well. Also, it was so nice that a Projects Abroad chaperone, Marie, went there from London together with them as I was concerned for children to go by themselves as there were two flight transits in Columbia and Ecuador.
Overall, our son had a fantastic experience and great opportunity to make friends from many countries while doing worthwhile conservation projects. Thank you so much!!

It was just two weeks, but every day was fulfilling, and it became the best two weeks of my life. The staff and the members were all amazing, and I just had an incredibly fun experience.
