The hospital staff were so friendly, I was comfortable exploring on my own, the host family were the sweetest people. I experienced a lot :)

I volunteered in a children's daycare centre out in Cusco for a month and it's been one of the best experiences I've ever had! All the projects abroad staff were lovely and readily available to help and the local staff at the daycare centre made me feel welcome straight away. My project allowed me to enjoy my time volunteering but meant I also had free time to explore the area which was great. The projects abroad staff help you get to know other volunteers as well by organising social events like cooking, dancing etc so it's a great way to meet other people. Would definitely recommend!!

I was a volunteer English teacher in Cuzco, Peru, for four weeks (May 2025) and it will remain a wonderful memory. It was well organised, I was welcomed in Cuzco by a very friendly and efficient team who took great care of me ( especially when I had a slight health problem), I really enjoyed assisting the English teachers in a local boys'school and my host lady was extremely kind and welcoming. Nothing negative whatsoever. It has been a very enriching and unforgettable experience.

Projects Abroad takes care of their volunteers. A well organised 3-months project that is more than just volunteering. Is freedom of exploring and take of part to fun activities.

The project itself was not very well organized, but the local people I lived and worked with were such nice people and made my experience memorable.

Everyone was so nice and really helpful. I do think that I could have been prepped a bit more before the project but overall it was a great experience.

Thank you so much for giving me such a wonderful opportunity! I was deeply moved by the warmth and compassion of the Fijian people. Every day brought new experiences and countless opportunity for learning. Above all, spending time with the pure-hearted and energetic Fijian children became an irreplaceable memory for me. My homestay was also a very comfortable place, thanks to the generous support of my host family. Although my stay was only one month, it was an incredibly fulfilling experience, and Fiji has become such a wonderful country that I genuinely hope to return to someday!

Thanks to the Projects Abroad staff, I was able to enjoy my volunteer work and life in Kenya. The staff gave us dance lessons, beading lessons, took us to a coffee farm, and tried to make us volunteers happy.

This program allows you to freely pursue what you want to do, as long as you communicate to the local staff what you wish to experience and learn.

To sum it up Project Abroad = Transformative travel and experience!
Eye-opening aspect of my journey provided valuable insights into different cultures, perspectives, and ways of life, broadening my understanding of the world. Such experiences are enriching and contribute significantly to personal growth, as they often push you out of your comfort zone and encourage you to adapt and learn.
Besides the above, i hv also returned with a new circle of friends during the project.

Hi, This year was my second stint with Projects Abroad. In 2018, I went to the amazing Taricaya reserve in Peru and joined a conservation project with my 2 boys aged 12 and 14 at the time. It was an incredible experience, that we still talk about it today. This year, I wanted to connect with the environment and the people who make a difference each and every day in the Galapagos. I chose Projects Abroad because of the amazing experience I had in 2018. Everyone in the team was super responsive as soon as I reached out, instantly connecting me with the project I was interested in and answering all my questions. They also made me feel safe as I was travelling alone this time and assisting with a family host in Quito, and the reception commitee in San Cristobal At the reserve, the staff was AMAZING! From William Puga who is the main contact, to Jose and Flora who cook our meals every day and Dot who is leading teaching assignments, everyone is completely devoted to the cause and the volunteers. I cannot say enough what a life - changing experience, my assignment was. Not only did I get the opportunity to teach French (for the first time) to the amazing local children, but I was also able to participate in conservation activities, such as feeding the tortoises, controlling invasive species and counting sea lions. The bonds we created among volunteers was also incredible and I was blessed to be surrounded by a community of amazing people ! I highly recommend joining in to support this incredible community and protect this unique natural environment #ProjectsAbroad

The people, including leaders and volunteers from around the world, are fantastic. The work can be challenging but incredibly rewarding. We had a schedule but also time for socializing, tourist-ing, and experiencing what the islands had to offer. Well run with a loving and caring family taking care of the volunteers.

This was my second experience with Project Abroad (first with two amazing projects in Cambodia in September 2023) and now I can confirm that after an experience with this organisation you’ll never travel looking to a new place with the same eyes.
I’m a 56 years old Italian woman and I travel a lot but I love to visit new countries doing Project Abroad volunteering project.
Why? Because with them you’ll have the opportunity to know real life and local people, to live with them and to know how they are wonderful, smiling and really kind even though they live much more simply than us (or probably because of this).
This time my husband came with me and I realise that he appreciated every minute of our shared experience despite the hot and wet weather, the shared bathroom (when we travel alone usually we search rooms with a private bathroom every time) with only cold water showers and the hard work during the project.
Together we decided to go in Sri Lanka and to work for Sea Turtle Conservation Project in Galbokka.
We’re bank employees so we haven’t any experience to offer… only our hands and of course our hearts. But the centre staff is so kind and supportive that after only one day we felt like we knew each one of them like they were our kids.
We’ll never forget any of them: Nimna and his smile, nicknamed Joker because he loves to joke with everyone; Kaveesha, the singer and artist, with his wonderful voice and his passion for Spiderman (his nickname); Kaveen alias Jerry, big and sweet eyes, who helped us to release our small baby turtles. And finally of course Charith, the Turtles centre ‘boss’ always busy but a real good friend for everyone in the centre.
A typical work day in the centre includes cleaning the turtles tank, feeding them after cleaning fish to give them, to dig holes in the sand in order to hide turtles eggs from predators, washing turtles and a lot of other works. Each day is different and exciting so you’ll forget the hard work.
Turtles are wonderful and baby turtles so nice and cute… I loved them so much. We released them two times, one at the sunset and one at midnight after patrolling beach to search eggs. This has been a wonderful experience because we went to the hatchery and we discovered that babies were born… what a great emotion. During the project we lived in a local family home and we enjoyed every moment with them. Our hostess Senanee is really kind and helpful in every moment and she is surely one of the best cooks in Sri Lanka! We felt like family with her, her daughter Nuhansa, her husband Ramidu, her mother in law and always safe.
After our two weeks project we decided to make a week trip around this wonderful country and we enjoyed every moment.
So, I wrote a lot about my experience and if you want you can read my 2023 review about Project Abroad. I think you could understand how well organised, safe and serious is this organisation. They are really careful about volunteers safety and I think it’s great to become a Project Abroad volunteer, no matter what age you are...so go ahead, sign up and start packing!

I firmly believe that the high school medical internship in Nepal was an incredible and transformative experience. It offered not only valuable hands-on medical exposure but also the opportunity to immerse myself in Nepal's rich culture and build lifelong friendships.

Absolutely life changing the only complaint I have is that it wasn't longer. Volunteering in cambodia and meeting like-minded individuals is an absolutely priceless experience I absolutely encourage you to attend a project or even better send your kids here.

This was an excellent experience as we got to experience many things and were assisted throughout the whole journey. The staff was really friendly and helped whenever we needed.
