Great Service, reception team are great and make sure everything goes to plan.
I had a very disappointing and frustrating experience with Protyre.
Two weeks ago, my car failed its MOT with two major issues: a damaged offside front seat belt (cut more than 2mm from the edge) and an excessively worn offside front lower suspension arm ball joint.
When I asked the manager, Chris, if both issues could be repaired, he said they could only replace the suspension arm ball joint, as they do not deal with seat belts. I asked if the repair could be done the same day, and he said yes — but without the family staff discount I am entitled to (my brother works for the same company in another city). He told me I could only receive the discount if I came back on a different day. Although this did not seem right, I agreed. I was quoted £250 for one suspension arm ball joint.
After I informed my brother, he contacted the manager to clarify why the discount could not be applied the same day. Shortly after, the manager called me and told me to collect my car, as he would no longer carry out the repair. He stated he was unhappy that my brother had contacted him. As a result, I was forced to leave with a failed MOT and no repair.
I then booked my car into another local garage, where both issues were repaired at a more reasonable price. I did not use the car afterwards except to drive it to the repair garage and directly back for the MOT retest.
At the retest, Protyre failed the car again. They claimed the suspension arm ball joint had not been fitted correctly and added a new major defect: excessive wear in the offside rear axle swivel pins and bushes — something that had previously only been listed as an advisory, not a failure.
Additionally, when I entered reception on the day of the retest, I noticed a member of staff reviewing my vehicle’s paperwork and discussing with the manager that certain defects may not have warranted being classified as “major.” This exchange has further raised concerns for me regarding the consistency and accuracy of the MOT assessment carried out on my vehicle.
Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this garage. It genuinely feels like they look for reasons to fail MOTs in order to generate additional income.

Trusted and prompt professionsl service. Always use them for tyres. Efficient and helpful, not into selling you other items which weren't necessary.
Our latest experience at Protyre was excellent and warranted a 5 star review, super helpful when having a car emergency and went above and beyond. We throughly recommend them and is the reason we use them for both our vehicles for service and MOT’s.
Fast efficient and very friendly, quality tyres at a very good price
