I just completed the Rat Race Source to City multi day, multi sport event in New York State. Overall the terrain was beautiful and challenging. The crew was incredibly supportive and knowledgeabl... See more

On a scale 1 to 10... 18!
My wife and I went for the Mongol 100, 2025.
It could have not been any better than what we experienced - above all expectations.
This race promises you harsh weather, physical exhaustion, and remoteness. It gives you the feeling that is one of those trips where things fall out of plan from time to time (for example, our luggage didn't arrived, an unfortunate situation shared with other participants). But Abbi and the Rat Race Team made us feel so comfortable since the very first minute, that we never had a doubt that things would have not been solved one way or the other.
Truly exceptional. Many of the racers we met did a few experiences with them, and we can now see why.
We will be planning something else with them soon!
Trans Andean 2025 A truly exceptional trip which was very…
A truly exceptional trip which was very professionally organised. I would highly recommend to anybody with a sense of adventure.
Pre event there was comprehensive list of kit and advice on what we should take. Plus plenty of opportunity to discuss with others, which added to the experience. Kit checks, cycling and medical briefings were all really helpful pre setting off.
Once underway it really was amazing how good the route was (even the long straight roads) and the support offered. There is an established routine for breakfast, start time on the bike which at first seems a challenge. But soon turns out to be routine, which is great. Once underway there are plenty of food stops, with a wide variety of food and some amazing support from the staff. Feeding, morale, medical needs and mechanical support are all first class at each stop.
The accommodation ranges from basic (mainly dictated by remote location), to some really first class places to stay. Certainly better than I was expecting.
It might sound a cliche, but apart from the achievement of riding over the Andes and cycling over 1,000 miles in 10 days, what really made the trip was the people involved. There was a wide range of nationalities involved, which added to the banter and comraderie. Plus all the RatRace team worked tirelessly to make the experience a safe and enjoyable one.
Yes it was tough, the days were long, and boy was it hot! But what an experience for the 38 of us who took part.
Thank you everybody!
Great Event - Headlined by a fantastic staff
From the moment I signed up to the final goodbye this event was staged perfectly. Starting with the pre-race meetings, info, kit lists. All were well thought out and thorough. The kit list was overwhelming at first but interesting how many items various people used during the event that I may have scoffed at initially. Pre-event meetings were spot on for the info I needed. Upon arrival the set up and accommodations were as described from rough to 4 star hotel quality. Pre-ride daily updates were helpful, the pit stops were great. Dinners and breakfast had the right variety and amounts. Most importantly the staff were unbelievably friendly, accessible and knowledgeable. This was my first Rat Race adventure. It will not be my last.
Trand Andean - January 2025
If you are reading this there is a high chance you are thinking of doing a Rat Race event or maybe even a Rat Race Trans Andean. I have only done one Rat Race event, the Trans Andean and here are my comments:
1) As others have said this is an adventure, not a holiday. It's a tough mental and physical challenge. To get the best from it you need to prepare well, listen to all the advice and commit.
2) Some of the accomodation and food along the way are equally a challenge. There are no Premier Inns, nor food we'd expect in the UK, but that's why you go isn't it, to taste adventure and experience the unknown?
3) The Rat Race team are 100% amazing, you have to be responsible for yourself, but the support team take care of you and genuinely care about you. They work 18hr days to keep the event on the road. Respect them as much as they respect you and things are fun, enjoyable and smooth everyday.
4) The local people, scenery, smells, tastes and experiences are amazing.
5) You will meet and bond with people like never before. You all go deep on this event and the companionship and compassion from fellow riders is incredible.
6) I learnt a lot about myself on this event, others did too, So if you are looking for something that really challenges you, look no further.
I highly recommend Rat Race and the Trans Andean to anyone looking for an exciting cycling challenge.
Trans Andean C2C Jan 2025
A very well organised event.
Safety is paramount with a
full time medic and nurse and for the bikes a full time mechanic.
All food / accommodation / pit stops provided.
Contingency planning had been well thought out.
Hotels / hostels were variable but we had to take what there was en route as the area is so vast and remote.Where good hotels were available we had them.
The support crew were amazing throughout - nothing is too much trouble.
I wouldn’t hesitate to use RatRace again or recommend them to any adventurous souls looking for a great experience!

Exceptionally well organised, run and managed trip. An amazing and adventure which lived up to expectations. The support was exceptionally well thought through and professionally executed .. day after, long, day.
The Trip of a Lifetime
I completed the Transandean Coast to Coast bike ride earlier this month after signing up and training for it over a year ago. I was super impressed with Ratrace - they can be a little rough around the edges on communication - but they’ve got in going on in all the places that it matters. They CARE - a lot - about the people on their trips and man do they work hard to deliver the best experience possible. There were 17 people supporting our group of 40 and each and every one of them was amazing. This is not a smooth, trouble-free holiday. This is an adventure. They plan it to max out the adventure element while considering safety and people’s limits, they support it knowing the issues that adventures will throw up and they deliver an incredible experience. If you want to be challenged, earn a sense of achievement, and live on the edges of your comfort zone for an incredible, worthwhile and life-changing experience, Ratrace will deliver that and at a very reasonable price. It’s pretty clear that this company loves the adventure and is not in it for the money. There will always be things that they’re looking to improve but I would do another trip with them in a heartbeat (if it didn’t take me a year to prepare for them).
Absolutely loved the adventure and…
Absolutely loved the adventure and challenge of cycling coast to coast across South America in January. Rat Race organisation was fantastic as Rob (race director) said literally all we had to do was make sure we ate, drank & slept as much as possible then keep pedalling…………I am still on a high from completing this Epic challenge along with my Lincs. Crew and fellow TransAndeans. (A great bunch)
The RR crew were all fantastic including the medics, bike mechanic and lovely ladies & gents manning the feed stations and the Argentinian gang - all trying to cool us down along the way and keep us hydrated. The only negative really was some of the accommodation was a bit basic but I guess there wasn’t a lot of choice up the Andes!
Would definitely recommend RatRace Adventures 😊
Trans Andean Coast to Coast 2025
An excellent and well-organised event through Chile and Argentina, with a great support crew. Met wonderful likeminded people from around the world and even though it was hard work for 6-10 hours on the bike for 10 consecutive days, it was a brilliant adventure which I can highly recommend.
Epic Transandean Trip 2025
Firstly the trip was a fabulous experience and I would truly recommend. Three things stood out for me
(1) organisation and team. For a max of 40 cyclists (think it was 37) Rat Race had a team of 17 on the ground. Everything was super organised…. Logistics, route, food stops, medical support, mechanics, local crew. All under the leadership of Rob. The team was great fun and worked super hard for us.
(2) Food. I was a bit worried about quantity and quality of food. I needn’t have been. Particularly the food stops - never eaten so much in my life.
(3) flexibility- one day had to be cut short because of horrendous storm. Rob was super flexible in amending plans to take those who wanted to back 12 miles to the famous toilets we sheltered in to start the next day. He did say that he couldn’t do this every time as as it would depend on the circumstances but a big thanks on a positive mindset to work on a solution.
All in all a great trip. You pay for what you get. Would recommend.
Excellent organisation
Excellent organisation, unbelievably friendly and adaptable people, nothing was too much trouble, possibly the best trip I've ever been on
Expedition 120L bag
Bought an expedition 120L bag for my scuba gear. Phenomenal quality and service. I have already told my freinds about this . Amazing prices aswell. Highly recommend
THE WALL ULTRA
THE WALL ULTRA
Rat Race Adventures it’s not punishment, it’s like going to see an old friend, you will fall out with the Wall many times, you will love huge amounts of it, meet many new friends and when you see the bridges on the Tyne it will wash away the pain ( for an hour or two 😂) then you will say never again and book soon after.
Head Up Heart Strong
Great endurance adventures
Great endurance adventures with clear goals to drive for. Local cultural aspects covered with local guides supporting the trips brilliantly. The Ratrace team provide unending support and guidance but at the end of the day the seven days of effort and grind are yours.
Guatemala Sea to Summit
This review is for Ratrace's Guatemala Sea to Summit event. In two words: tough, but awesome! Highly recommended way to explore the jungle and peaks and volcanoes of Central America, hosted by an incredible in-country support team. Be prepared for tough days on the bike on cobblestone roads and early starts to ascend Tajumulco ... but totally worth it!!
Rat Race isn’t just an endurance race….its a way of life
Rat Race isn’t just an endurance race, it’s a way of life. Like minded people, some you meet for the first time, supporting you from day one. And we should know. Luggage never arrived, having hardly any of the mandated kit list, everyone on this trip helped, offering spare clothing (Simon and Maria you totally saved us lending us your spare bike shorts! To Jim and team lending head torches, waterproofs and much more!).
It’s hard to put in words the Rat Race Guatemala experience. From our local passionate team spearheaded by Lusia who imparted so much history, anecdotes and knowledge to the elfly nimble James Appleton who navigated us back on track on the final days climb and especially to the strong, humbling people we lived with 24/7 completing the race, I loved it all. Seeing the country in this way provides such a unique experience. The people of Guatemala from the elderly to the youngest child were incredibly warm and welcoming. The landscape! Breathtakingly beautiful. From the cane fields, jungle and cobblestoned tracks - yes, even the cobblestoned tracks - to dormant and active volcanoes, lakes and single track crazy bike climbs, Rat Race is physically and mentally challenging and not for the faint hearted. But when you stand on top of the highest volcano in Central America with everyone making that climb the emotion is raw…..tears, laughter…. It’s all shared, appreciated and humbling.
If you want to test your resilience and resolve, experience a country and its authenticity, in the knowledge you are completely supported by the experienced Rat Race team and meet incredible people then sign up - you will never regret it.
Absolutely incredible adventure
Absolutely incredible adventure!
The Guatemala Sea to Summit by RatRace is not to be underestimated.
While the distances are ”not RatRace”, the heat saps your energy and makes this adventure a fight with your body and mind.
The journey takes you through UNESCO sites, sugar cane plantations, and beautiful rural villages.
The views, people, and countryside create an assault on the senses, yet it's wonderfully tranquil. The hardest part was the final 150m ascent of Volcan Tajumulco. Each step is grueling, but standing at the top, with the world at your feet, is unbeatable.
This event is a physical, mental, and practical test. It's one of the best things I've done. If you're up for a challenge that combines stunning landscapes, and cultural immersion, this is it.
Emails are generally not answered.
I have previously booked a trip with this company. The trip itself was fine, but this company is unable to respond to emails. I noticed this issue the last time, and now, after booking a new trip, I’m encountering the same problem again. They’re happy to take your money but are unwilling to respond to a simple question. All you get is an auto-reply, which is completely useless. They offer beautiful trips to fantastic destinations, but proper contact and follow-up on questions should also be part of the customer journey. Very disappointing and amateurish.
Shetland TestPilot
If I could give it more stars I would!!
This was one epic adventure to the wilderness of the Shetlands for the End to End Test Pilot event.
Stunning route from South to North through the changeable Scottish Weather. Once again lead by the experience of James from Rat Race and the brilliant support crew.
If you prefer pure running events and not sure about stepping up to the 6 days of The Isles, then this is one to go for.
Maltese Falcon
What a great team and a fantastic way to see the whole island chain in one day! Rat Race plan for, and think of, everything so you don’t need to. So well looked after the whole weekend, with nice hotels included. Met so many lovely people again, can’t wait for the next event! Thank you RR and fellow ‘ratters’ 🥰
