They unfairly and not trust online bid…
They unfairly and not trust online bid I don’t recommend and I don’t know how they still on the market Im looking for a skid steer and got them office to ask how they feeds auction works the person who works for them said anything buying above 25k they charge 5% after I bought a caterpillar for 27k they charge me 2500$ and they said that’s a minimum fees so they should say is a 50k minimum bid to have a 5% auction fees
Beware when buying equipment with motors
I purchased a truck online from Ritchie Bros Montréal without seeing it in person. The listing did not note any deficiencies.
I flew from Edmonton to Montréal to pick up the unit based on that description.
When I arrived, the main coolant pipe had already failed. After removing it, the cooling system was completely dry — requiring over 10 litres of coolant just to refill.
After reinstalling the pipe, the truck initially appeared operational, but after approximately 600 km under normal load in hilly conditions, it began pushing coolant out of the reservoir cap under pressure.
These are serious mechanical issues that directly affect reliability and are not minor defects.
I contacted Ritchie Bros and they declined to offer any compensation.
I would not have bought the truck if these issues had been noted in the listing.
Buyers should be extremely cautious when relying on online descriptions and “no deficiencies” listings without independent inspection.
Ritchie Bros is by far the best auction…
Ritchie Bros is by far the best auction company I have dealt with in my career. From the organization and cleanliness of the facility, to the excellent customer service and professionalism, my experience was outstanding!
Won 50x80 (4 crates) but recevied 40x80 (3 crates) building kit
The auction item I won and promptly paid for was not the item that was shipped to me. Shipping cost to correct this was my responsibility so instead of returning the item I agreed to take a refund for the difference in value of what I recevied compared to what I won/paid for. I have not yet recevied that refund.
Communication with your customer whether it’s on the phone or textitpr email
The length of short time which Miss Rolfo responds to my questions and problems
Impossible to raise bid limit. Customer care isn’t helpful.
I couldn’t bid…I guess they don’t need my money. Tried for a week to raise my bid limit so I could purchase an item at a farm auction. Finally I sent a large sum of money through wire transfer and they still didn’t raise my limit. I won’t be able to bid on want I wanted to buy. I better get my deposit back!! Customer care isn’t helpful at all.
Terrible listing quality & no quality control
Terrible listing quality. Had them sell my 2020 Peterbilt with 163k original miles. $100k truck all day.
They listed it as the check engine light was on because the "inspector" classified a fault dash light as the check engine light. The "inspector" also stated that the truck only started after jumping, which must of developed at ritchie brothers yard because it started fine the morning i took it in. Lastly every picture looked like it was taken by a 65 year old man with a cell phone and 100 more units due with before lunch. The cover picture was from a weird angle that made the mid roof sleeper look small and you couldn't even tell that it was a quad axle/lift axle unit.
Truck sold for $55k. I could of sold to a dealer for 75k all day. Don't expect quality, they will protect themselves legally and there own pockets far before sellers in every way.
First Time for RB Auction
My experience from sign up through pick up was positive. All research and review of items was done online. RB does a good job with pictures and details. They keep you informed of the auction and items you are interested in. The bidding and purchase was seamless. Then preparing for pick up was made very easy by the information provided. The onsite pick up went very smoothly. Al reps were pleasant and helpful. The equipment purchase was exactly as pictures and details on the website depicted. Check out at the gate was also easy.
Rigged items to outbid in the last seconds!
Auction items are rigged to outbid, then close the auction at the last seconds of the auction! When asked for explanations, I got “ since I did not see it, it did not happen”.
Most NON-PROFESSIONAL COMPANY THAT I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH!
Wish this was an isolated incident, but this is number 3, and my last! First, bought an UNUSED 50K trailer. Broken air supply line and most lights did not work. Had to pull it home, 13 hours back, half in the dark! NO WHERE WERE THESE DEFECTS MENTIONED IN THE AUCTION! NO COMPENSATION FOR THESE REPAIRS! Second, bought an UNUSED grapple bucket. Broken fitting on the hydraulic cylinder and damaged hydraulic hose, again, not advertised! This time, the local manager paid for the repair parts, only.
Now, bidding on a skid steer backhoe attachment. Bid a half hour before closing time. Had the winning bid until 3 seconds of closing time, and the bid jumped, and the auction closed, before I had a chance to increase my bid.
THREE TIMES, and I am done with bullshit from Ritchie Bros. Auctions!
BUYER BEWARE!
Difficult to navigate this site
Difficult to navigate this site. No customer service assistance at all. Im taking my companies money elsewhere.
Buyer Beware!!!
I was outbid on an item. So I bid on another item like it and won that item. When I went to pay, the item I was outbid on was listed on my invoice. I contacted Customer Service. They refused to do anything about it.
As good as it gets!
As good as it gets!
Ritchie Brothers is the best auction experience available. Lots of inventory. On line descriptions are excellent. Bidding is easy as possible. On site staff are wonderful.
Experienced now.
For a first time buyer on line. I felt like the online auction gave me time to participate. One has to be careful because it is almost to easy to spend money buying equipment. I ran into some hold ups during my experience. But once entering into the auction it became clear on what to do next time. I will have all my inexperience work out by the time the next auction comes into play.
Great idea online buying.
Little guy with Fortune 500 ATTENTION...
Ritchie Brothers Auctioneers did and is doing for me the absolute unexpected! I am the little guy. An American Small Business owner getting the same attention and service as if I were a Fortune 500 company. Thank you, and God Bless.
Professional.
Ritchie Bros made my 1st auction the best experience…
Ritchie Bros made my 1st auction experience a good one. I had watched others on YouTube but they did not show the complete process. Once I decided to go for it, it could not have been easier.
My experience with Ritchie Brothers was…Smooth as silk.
My experience with Ritchie Brothers was very smooth. They make the process easy for people to take part in the auctions. Find, register, bid, win and pick up its that simple.
