Rb auction scam

1.7 Billion dollar profit last year And they have the nerve to charge a $100 documentation fee on any lot under a $1000. Whether it be $5 or $50 lot you have to pay an extra $100 Documentation fee for each lot purchased. You buy 5 lots at $5 a piece? It's gonna cost? Yeah five hundred and twenty five dollars that is just ridiculous. Is is there any government Legislation on these places. Talk about one of the biggest scams in history. I was there paying for my stuff and every 2nd person was complaining about this. But they don't seem to care because it's money in their pocket. An item You pay $1000 for and an item you pay $5 for are both charged a $100 documentation. Fee? Anyone see a problem with that. These auction places are getting ridiculous someone needs to step in and regulate what's going on as far as Ritchie brothers there will be no more purchases there by me and I've talked to a lot of people who are in the same boat.

Criminal place

Criminal place, I bought multiple items at the February sale in Orlando. I was able to pick them all up accept the welder I purchased, it could not be located. We waited three hours for the staff to try and locate it, in the end was told it’s here we just have to find it. Will call you. That never happened, called them multiple times in the last four months, was hung up on, and told will call back. No response at all. Called customer service line, customer service told me “we don’t deal with that, call the location directly”. Which is hilarious, making the customer service line pointless. I checked my online account today, that item has been deleted from my account. Luckily I have a printed sheet and item number from the sale.
So, no refund, no answers, no item. They stole my money and don’t care. I just defined a thief.

worst rule change ever run away

I had to walk away and not even pick up my winnings because of the new rule change that was not communicated to me properly. Changes were made in secret and even the final invoice never showed the extra charges till i was at location and got a $1400 bill for $300 worth of stuff. They will charge $100 on top of each $5 item. why they did not do a min bid and let ppl know that its not areal auction i dont know. never go there they are now crooked and will kill the whole idea of an auction.

Beware

Beware! Beware! Beware! I bought a used hydraulic tank in the auction for $95, when I got my invoice, it included an additional $100 processing fee. My $95 tank cost me over $210 with taxes. It is my mistake for not reading the fine print that was changed as of Jan 1st this year. Instead of a 15% fee, I had to pay a 100% fee.

If I could give negative stars

If I could give negative stars, I would!
The pictures are specifically taken of vehicles to portray them in their best light and hide missing, important components. When they are called out on it, they refuse to make good and play games around their policy. They don’t even hold true to their own policy! Look elsewhere, you can get better deals and not get scammed!

I inadvertantly defaulted on my bids

I inadvertantly defaulted on my bids. Called 2 days past the deadline and was told I'd have to pay a $500.default fee on $530 worth of merchandise, and I was all set to make things right just for them to insult me by saying they had no other options available. Pure profiteering, predatory business practices.

I signed to auction my equipment at 10% at a live auction. I found out later they weren't even licensed to hold auctions in Oklahoma. They offered to have me pay to ship all my equipment to Texas to get a live auction. Which is nuts. They then stated they would be licensed "next" month. Three months later they still weren't licensed. They finally offered to sell my stuff in online auctions at the agreed 10% and no additional fees. They charged more than 10% every time something sold, plus they added online sales fees. I have been trying for months to get a refund and I have heard nothing from them.

Additionally, their online auction is a joke. You are better off scrapping your stuff than selling online. Numerous items sold for $100 or less, which actually cost me money because they charged a $100 minimum commission and would not let me set a minimum sales price. Several buyers told me they simply put in their 'bid' as a place holder so they would be aware of other bids only to 'win' the bid as the only bidder for $40, $60 or $100.

purchased a 3pth tiller that was advertised as a 50inch 540PTO. it was only a $450.00 purchase but with their fees it was an extra $100. I thought $100 fee for a $450 purchase was ridiculous. But then i got home and found out the tiller was a 48inch with a 2000PTO which wouldnt work for my tractor. I called and we agreed that they would give me back the fees and i would sell the tiller myself. still havent received my fees back. This place needs to be shut down. They are robbing the BUYER AND THE SELLER.

I recently purchased a Taylor-Dunn that had no motor or controller. I have purchased Trucks with them before and they normally have little things that might need attention, Most items that are inoperable are listed as such, so I felt confident that I was purchasing a product that would work since it was not listed as inoperable. I called and was transferred to a Manager that was voice mail only, no return call 3 weeks later. I emailed via the contact form online, no response. So now I stuck with a $4,500 oversized paper weight.
I understand the disclaimer, but really , no motor and you are ok with this?

Personal data breach.

I received a letter from Ritchie bros informing me sensitive data was breached relating to my personal details. No apology and they told me months after the fact where I could have taken measures to protect myself. If they can do this to an ex employee I dare not think about their customers data security. Terrible company stay away.

I wouldn’t give 1 star but can’t give none. Bought a van trailer and a small item. By the time it was done they charged me over $1,100 for fees and my items were only 4,350. Over 25% for all their fees that aren’t listed when bid is placed. Rip-off. Will not buy from them again. Cheated me once but no more.

Bought a 2015 Freightliner

Bought a 2015 Freightliner. What a joke truck died leaving auction yard in Houston Tx. Had to pay a wrecker to pick up truck and tow to Kerrville Tx. $ 7000.00 later truck went another 380 miles when motor let loose. Mechanic found proof of parts replaced but total engine job was avoided. Will cost 20k to fix. Waiting to hear back from RB after dispute was filed. Everything about this transaction was a lie!!! Buyers beware because sellers fail to disclose major issues. A big expense for a consumer to absorb!!!

Richie knowingly sells junk

I have purchased several products; most have been satisfactory. Several have been defective. I bought face masks, that looked good in photos, but had rubber that had deuterated. I called manufacturer and learned that the shelf life had expired in 2011.richie bros claimd that their pics show no problem.Besides the dollar amount paid is less than there iron clad guarantee covers. The rep had to guide me to the fine print where the $$ amount limit is stated. They will even reject a claim when defective tags are found inside a container, claiming they do not open to see clearly visible unserviceable tags.
They will not post any info to assist bidders IF item is defective. THEY ALWAYS HAVE THERE FINE PRINT TO COVER THERE A***
