  1. Timeshare Agency

Written by the company

Like most great companies, it all started with an idea. In 1974, Jon and Christel DeHaan set out to add greater value to the timeshare experience when they pioneered the vacation exchange concept. The DeHaans developed a system that allowed owners to exchange time at their home resort for a stay at a different affiliated property—delivering a new level of flexibility and choice to timeshare owners and revolutionizing an industry in the process. Today, RCI remains the leader in vacation exchange, offering the world’s largest vacation exchange network and providing unrivaled products and services to enhance the vacation ownership experience. It’s one of the many reasons why more resorts trust RCI to deliver vacation exchange services to its subscribing members than any other company across the globe

Say NO TO RCI AND TIMESHARE! IT'S A SCAM!

We've been using timeshare for over 25 years. In the past it was much easier to get an exchange and there was just an annual RCI fee and an exchange fee.
Now when you add up all their ridiculous fees, a membership fee, then RCI plus membership fee, then points combining fee, then an exchange fee, then an RCI insurance fee etc etc before you even travel you'd be spending well over a $1000-$2000 or more ( that depends how much your maintenance fee is when you add it to all RCI fees), and on top of that when you add your airfares and travel insurance you won't have any money left for your actual holiday. I am not even counting your initial fee that you paid to buy your timeshare, $20,000-$50,000!
Just do yourself a favour and buy an all inclusive package, food, accommodation, airfares for $500, or sometimes even less, and enjoy a 4*-5* resort.
The timeshare resorts are all run down, all look like 2*-3*motels.
IT'S SIMPLY NOT WORTH IT!
Timeshare is a thing from the past, and should stay there. Nowadays you will be paying maintenance fee for the resort where you "own", and they will be renting it to the public at a profit.
RCI consultants are based in the Philippines and are completely ignorant about the whole timeshare concept. Because the timeshare weeks go to the rental market, your only option would be to accept a holiday year after year, in the rundown leftover remote resorts, at the same remote locations, faraway from everything!
RCI IS A SCAM nowadays, don't join, especially since Wyndham
took over! No benefits, just your hard earned money going down the drain!

DON'T EVER JOIN RCI, DON'TBUY TIMESHARE!

If I could give a ZERO I would! You will never be able to exchange your week. You are the one who pays the maintenance fee, and they will use your week for their rental accommodation. We have never ever been able to exchange our weeks in any of the destinations we wanted to go.
We always go to the same run down resorts that nobody wants them!
DON'T EVER GET SUCKED INTO BUYING TIMESHARE! IT'S MONEY GOING DOWN THE DRAIN, AND DON'T EVER JOIN RCI!!

Not all that glitters is Gold

Not all that glitters is Gold. We were "sold" by an RCI representative, a week in Siena and a week in Malta. Pressure was put on us to use up points or we would lose them. This in itself is criminal. However, once they dazzle you with all the glossy pics, we enthusiascally fly across the the world literally coming from Australia. We find the Siena accommodation is not actually Siena at all. In fact it's about one hundred odd kilometres from Siena, in the most remote part of Italy. Nearest town with services is a 30 min drive down the mountain. Plus there is a tendency in these places to treat RCI members as second class citizens. To arrive after 24 hours on a plane, followed by a 5 hour drive, at a cold and bare "apartment" more suitable for a monks retreat. Not one lick of barest essentials to be found, like a tea bag, a bit of sugar or salt to welcome a weary guest. The expectation that guests are to provide these essentials is outrageous. We didn't bother unpacking and spent the evening reviewing our accommodation for Malta
realising its was worse than where we already were. We then booked appropriate accommodation for both our stays, considering we had come this far. I believe RCI should be taken to task and punished by the law for criminal activity and have gotten away with lies for too long. I for one will be following this up on my return.

SCAM COMPANY...DO NOT BUY A MEMBERSHIP!

I just joined RCI for the first time in August of 2023 because I couldn't use my timeshare week at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach so I had to exchange it with RCI. The last few months I've been able to search properties and and see on the lefthand side of the screen the availability listed but as of a few days ago when I search for the property it says there's NO availability, even for the ENTIRE year which I know isn't correct!! The layout of the website has changed for me. Not sure why and I've tried logging out/in, changing my password and even used a different browser but no luck with fixing it. Extremely frustrating!!
I tried calling customer service and none of them have a clue as to why I'm not able to search a property correctly, even the supervisor that tried to help said, "Sorry I have no idea"???? This whole thing has been such a nightmare, so many fees to exchange my week. If I want to "gift" my week to a family member I have to pay $409 to gift it to someone PLUS my stupid membership fee of $109 a year...What a SCAM!!!! I will never buy another membership again!!!

I made a big mistake trusting this company after reading so many negative reviews. They took money for nothing. Got a guy on instagram who offered to do it for much lesser and actually got it done. Wyndham contract has been successfully exited and collection removed from my report just with 3 weeks working with Forexfraudteam gmail c o m. I got documentation confirming our contract termination 3rd week with FFT. They’re the legal hands you need in battle with companies like timeshare and exit fraudsters . Totally recommend them instead of this scam company.

The fees are completely rediculous with this company. While speaking with an agent, we both discovered that it would be less money to book the same hotel on Expedia. I want my membership fee of 158.00 and my week I exchanged, back! What is the purpose of this site!

I am here again my membership has just…

I am here again my membership has just run out the end of August so I thought I would give RCI a chance to redeem it's self so I decided to look at what is available before I renewed my membership I have 32 points on my weeks exchange so I looked at Tenerife where there's usually plenty of exchange's looked at one of the resorts I like Santa Barbara put in from September 2024 to September 2025 there were 90 weeks available I thought I was in for a good chance of finding something only to find that there was only 8 weeks for exchange and they were studios the rest we extra holiday weeks at very inflaited price I am a member of Diamond resorts and i can purchase extra weeks through my membership with them at much lower price this just goes to show that RCI after just out to fleece you out of your money to renew my membership which has risen by 50% and after looking for an exchange since my last review with all the extra charge they want to apply to you after being with RCI for 25years I think it's times to walk away from this company and I also won't be renewing my membership with 7Across either as they are part of RCI and they are exactly the same in that they just won't your money and your timeshare weeks but don't want to give a exchange.
I can see why this company has gone from being 4/5star company to where they are now.
Total rubbish

Impossible to cancel

My parents inherited some weeks with RCI through which we had some enjoyable holidays as a family. However, when Dad got ill and died, Mum decided to give up the points. RCI have been less than helpful, not giving full information when asked, leaving a grieving family already dealing with paperwork having to chase up before getting another bill. If we filled out a very complicated form wrong, there was no follow-up. Luckily we decided to follow up ourselves, which has led to several long-winded, circuitous phone calls and emails sent to the wrong address. Would not recommend joining up.

I would give zero stars if I could

I would give zero stars if I could. We got 4 RCI bonus weeks and we’re told that these are free weeks and only the fee of $299 would apply when exchanged. That s what was said at signing the contract. Now, no one tells you that you still have to pay USD12,000 as all inclusive fees!!!! How is this free stay? For this amount of money I can buy 2 weeks of all inclusive vacation for 4 people myself out of pocket. What is free or bonus here?…complete scam.

conning tourists

During my first visit to Las Vegas, which was also my first vacation in 12 years, I was with my significant other who suffers from congestive heart failure with only 11% of his heart functioning. While at the MGM Grand Casino, we were approached by a woman offering free vouchers. She claimed they were running a promotion and that if we visited another one of their resorts, we would receive $100 in food vouchers, $200 in free play, and a $50 cash reimbursement for securing our spot in the offer.

We ended up touring this resort, an RCI property, for three hours in 107-degree weather, which was extremely taxing for my significant other given his heart condition. When we informed them that we couldn’t afford the $32,990 timeshare they were trying to sell us, the demeanor of the person showing us around changed drastically. He became rude and pushy, despite the initial assurance that there was no obligation to buy.

Eventually, we managed to leave without purchasing anything, but the entire “promotion” felt like a scam. They lied about it being the last day for “closed out deals” and became aggressive when we declined to buy. The so-called “promotional gifts” turned out to be nearly worthless, as the vouchers could only be used on a few specific machines at Casino Royale, which required hitting a jackpot to win anything.

This experience was incredibly frustrating and detrimental to my significant other’s health. The company seemed more interested in conning us into a sale than in providing a genuine promotion. I strongly advise against engaging with this company, as they appear to be exploiting people to sell their properties.

DO NOT SPEND YOU MONEY HERE

I just received notice that the resort we booked through RCI has closed its Lodge, arcade, indoor pool, and spa for renovations. However, RCI will not let us cancel and rebook a different location without losing our $300 exchange fee. No wonder RCI has one of the lowest, if not the lowest, rating in the travel industry.

Scammers. They take the money and run.

Scammers. If I could give 0 stars I'd have done so.

We'd been members of RCI for many years - and when we used it, we were happy with exchanges even though prices had gone up so it was getting expensive. We'd banked our timeshare week but because of Covid lost weeks. C'est la vie. But post Covid we started to use our timeshare weeks. Last year we booked and had a great holiday in Scotland. What we didn't realise is that we only had 12 points left for last year but 20 for the most recent year and the Scotland holiday cost 19 points. When I wanted to book this year, we had only 1 point left. The 12 points had expired and they'd stolen the 19 from this year. So nothing left.

After what we'd paid them we'd have thought they would have warned us we'd lose both or to combine. But no - they take our money and run.

Very Bad experience with this company…

Very Bad experience with this company in Cancun Mexico. They showed us the lower rates of hotels that we can book through their package but never told us about the points we required to get the deal. gave us very wrong impression and we bought that package . When we tried to book our first vacation then they mentioned all the conditions that they never told in their demo . When we tried to reach someone to cancel our package nobody is responding . very irresponsive . Never ever go with this company name Playa Collection or RCI .

Hi Neetu, we appreciate the opportunity to clear up any misunderstandings you may have experienced.

RCI offers timeshare owners the opportunity to exchange their vacation time with other RCI members. We are not involved in the actual sale of timeshare property; nor do we own or operate any resort/vacation club that participates in our exchange program. However, RCI partners with affiliated resorts to ensure they are up-to-date on our policies and procedures.

We are happy to assist you with any questions or concerns regarding the RCI exchange program at talktous@rci.com.

Disabled woman forced to violate HIPPA law in order to cancel service agreement. Then forced to sign another agreement or be placed for Collections. Then finally signed agreement after a loss of a family member and service dog. Then advised not accepted and placed with Collections. No deadline given. Horrible experience. Escalating matter to Corp Office and share my experience everywhere as much as possible.
