Like most great companies, it all started with an idea. In 1974, Jon and Christel DeHaan set out to add greater value to the timeshare experience when they pioneered the vacation exchange concept. The DeHaans developed a system that allowed owners to exchange time at their home resort for a stay at a different affiliated property—delivering a new level of flexibility and choice to timeshare owners and revolutionizing an industry in the process. Today, RCI remains the leader in vacation exchange, offering the world’s largest vacation exchange network and providing unrivaled products and services to enhance the vacation ownership experience. It’s one of the many reasons why more resorts trust RCI to deliver vacation exchange services to its subscribing members than any other company across the globe

I agree with all the 1 star reviews
I agree with all the reviews with 1 star. Have been a member since 1982 and ever since Wyndham took over it’s been all downhill. My membership runs out the end of this year and will start using another trading company. You would think they would look at there ratings and realize that they are doing something wrong. Just another example of a large corporation taking advantage of the common folk.

RCI used to be a legitimate company…
RCI used to be a legitimate company with decent representatives, but that was twenty years ago. Over the years, the cost has risen but the quality and service have plummeted. The website has become so buggy that it is unusable. The availability of resorts with a kitchen has dwindled to miniscule. And the selection of resorts is a fraction of what it used to be.
But now, it's suddenly even worse! It's become a shameless sham.
They seem to be trying to compete with hotels.com via comparative prices, maybe a bit lower, but promoted as Exchange Plus! It cost me tens of thousands of dollars for the resort I bank with RCI, and then I pay annual fees on top of that, in order to have "the privilege" (?) of saving a couple of dollars on hotel stays? Really? And yet I have to give up RCI points and not accrue frequent traveler points, too?
Not only do I feel cheated, but deceived. The website won't let you filter out these "deals" in your listing, so you have to go through pages of this hype to find the real resorts. So now, if I want to see resorts in, say, Savannah, 99 out of 100 will be either these worthless "Plus!" hotels or resorts that RCI is pushing in Mexico or Punta Cana. That is, of course, if I can get the website to work.
I imagine that they defend this, claiming that it's "Plus!" and I can just ignore the scams. At least let me search for resorts - real ones, the kind I paid to see - without the bait. And I've seen their responses to other posts here and note that they like to pass the buck. I paid thousands of dollars additional to be in RCI Points, which means that RCI has a tight grip on anything I try to do, preventing me from migrating to their competitors. Essentially, I'm trapped.
What kind of absolute jerks are they to do this to their paying members?
I theorize that, since they've been bought out by them, Wyndham must have migrated the good resorts into their vacation program, leaving fewer decent ones for us. And maybe they aren't appealing to new resorts through RCI, only through Wyndham Vacations, leaving us holding the bag.
Wyndham certainly pushes their vacation program on us RCI members when we visit, but I'm not about to get scammed again. Besides, their vacation plan seems to be just another sack of high-priced promises.
Does anyone have experience with RCI's competitors so we can try an alternative?

I hate RCI…do NOT join if you have an option
Have been forced to be a member for over 15 years, as they are the only trading company my timeshare uses.
I have hated this company every year! Their software is beyond horrible and so far behind the times. Always frustrating. They only offer the same limited travel choices (locations AND hotels) over and over. Fees go up constantly. I am looking to get out of my timeshare contract so I can make RCI a very bad memory. There is nothing positive I can say about RCI.

Rude customer service received from…
Rude customer service received from RCI. Phoned today and spoke to a lady, to explain I hadn't received an email her colleague was due to send me the day before, the response was we will send it again. While this is what I needed, an acknowledgement or a sorry for not sending it when they said they would, would have been nice. Even when I pointed out an apology would be nice, still nothing other than a raised voice and a re stating that they would send it out again. The other companies involved in helping with my insurance claim due to a family bereavement, have been much more understanding and helpful.

Despitely you have to give 1 star, even that is not valued worth. A fraude organisation, losing the ownership of a week condo in parkway orlando. Charge to points in europe, paying extra 3500 eur but by no choise of resort ended the relation, by paying one year for nothing, and no exchange. Now 4 years later still got summations for payments. Even pirates have honour code, these boy not.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
There should be a zero star option!
DO NOT BUY INTO THIS BUNCH OF COWBOYS. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!
We've been RCI points owners for years, as time has went by it has become harder and harder to get anywhere. Clearly they have oversold the timeshares. I've only managed to get one booking in over 6 years. I travel at least twice a year. Since covid, we've been unable to book anywhere in Europe.
They really should be taken to court on the Trades descriptions act, as what they are selling is Not Fit for Purpose and in reality, completely illegal. They cannot come up with the goods while we have to pay hundreds of pounds each year for maintenance and membership fees, yet no accommodation.
Wish I'd never bought in and there's no way out without losing a massive initial investment. Avoid at all costs..
Add on...
Happy to take our money though, even though we can't book anything. Charging us extra to keep our points, that we couldn't use in the 1st place. RCI are 100% responsible for the overselling. In your own words, over 3 million members but only 40,000 resorts. Those figures just don't work out if everyone wants to take a holiday once a year. It's more like a lottery than a holiday..
Sick to death of the gaslighting that comes from this company!! Do you not think I've tried calling you to book, yet nothing. I do not have the ability to book 18months in advance, due to my husband working off shore. Jeezo, I could be dead in 18 months. When I want a holiday, I want to book 3 months in advance, MAX! It used to work like that, no longer after covid. Only availability, anywhere in the world are the stupid, rip-off "all inclusives" that want £300-500 per day, per person. What's the point of having rci if I have to pay £600 per night. I wouldn't spend £600 a month on food and drink for myself and my husband, I'm defo not spending it on one night at a hotel..
Absolute rip off, hopefully someone takes you to court soon!
Kind regards
A seriously disgruntled customer

Appalling customer service
Appalling customer service. I have been trying to contact RCI South Africa from the UK for several weeks to book my expiring replacement holiday which was insured. Phone calls are cut off before you reach a person to speak to and emails to several different email addresses are unanswered, aside from a request for feedback on the experience. They don’t deserve any stars.

I wish I can give them zero or negative…
I wish I can give them zero or negative star, if possible. I have been a member for almost 2 years now, and when I want to use points I still have to pay $200plus out of pocket. I pay monthly $164 and I dont have any benefits from it. When I asked them to cancel my membership, they said they can’t. Basically, I pay $164 for nothing. They are happy st**ling.

Do not become a member
Wow! I should've read these reviews before I bought in. These are legit reviews. We became members in 2020 and have been nothing but disappointed. We were given 3 bonus weeks and have only used one. They have been difficult to work. They tell you resort fees are covered when they aren't. They don't hold their employees or their words accountable. Honestly, I think the members need to file a class action lawsuit against this company. Please do Not buy into this company. It really is nothing but smoke and mirrors.
RCI they will tell you it is not a…
RCI they will tell you it is not a timeshare when they making the presentation of course cause it is worst you will pay a pretty good money for the membership and when you have to make reservations is the same as regular reservation or much worst please don't fall for it my husband brought one which we are stuck with it right now it is like we throwing our hardworking money to the windows Cause It is all lies and Scam

Is 7 Across the same as RCI
Is 7 Across the same as RCI? We were with RCI, got poor results from them, then changed to DAE. Now they're 7 Across. When we phone they're in the same building. They never have suitable places, even outside school holidays time. Rubbish service.

I purchased a time share at the…Trade Winds
I purchased a time share at the Trade Winds resort, and I use that term loosely, in 2007. This is not a resort. It is an old hotel that has been renovated. the noise from adjacent rooms is so bad, that you can hear a pin drop from the upstairs unit. I do not belong to RCI, because I dropped my membership when I noticed they were trying to nickel and dime me and I was never going to get any useful benefits.
The first time we stayed, our room wasn't available, so we got a nicer room, but things have gone down hill since then. The next time our room was available, but it looks like they pulled a bait and switch, saying I had purchased a crappy little room without a window. They must have known they screwed up, because they transferred our deed to the room that we thought we had purchased. Each time we've gone, it's been pool closed for maintenance, elevator broken, etc.. We just came home after 2 days on our vacation because when we got there, we found that our room was being worked on, and the only room they had, had a view of the street corner and not the harbour that we paid for. My wife had called over a week ahead and was told everything was good, come on down. After talking to "Lacey" I was told that I could take what they will give me, or too bad.
Moral of the story: Don't purchase a time share from anyone, especially from these people.

Just had a call from a debt collector…
Just had a call from a debt collector as RCI say they have not collected our monthly deposit since September 2023.
When we signed this agreement you had all our details, Name, phone number email address but none phoned or emailed to ask what had transpired, but you chose to send our details to a debt collector even though you made no contact to establish why to payments had stopped. I am far from impressed with RCI and should never have committed to sign any agreements with this terrible company. They are now saying we need to pay US2,000 to get out of the agreement or pay the US1212 for the arrears! It would have been nice if someone from RCI had contacted us before going to the Debt collectors as RCI can sell their unscrupulous deals but have no customer service system to contact the customers if there is a problem!

Still waiting for a trade since April 2022
I put in a search for Aruba back on April 21, 2022 and still waiting! Every time I call to check on it, they say they're still searching. I would not recommend RCI if you are trading for any specific place, you'll grow old waiting for it!

I would like to give them 0 stars
I would like to give them 0 stars. I have tried on three separate occasions to book a trip to visit my son using my RCI points and (even with flexible dates) they always tell me there is nothing available. When I called today they offered to book me a hotel in Florida using all 36,500 of my points PLUS paying $1,299 PLUS resort fees.
No thank you. I can book an Air BnB or a hotel on booking.com so much easier and cheaper.
Their website is also terrible. Not at all user friendly, very difficult to search & when I finally find something I get a message that there are “technical difficulties” and I should “try again later.”
I just hope others read this before they make the terrible decision I did to purchase with Wyndham / RCI.

So many gottchas. It is very disgusting how they continue to rip off their customers. At some point we'll likely see a class action lawsuit.

Booked a trip to Tahiti Village in…
Booked a trip to Tahiti Village in Vegas and after my confirmation I realized they have excess of fees and 10minutes later I canceled my reservation. The next day I reserved directly with Tahiti Village without the fees. I than called RCI for a possible refund but they refused. I don't understand why they have a cancelation option if they don't refund. Also if they had a prompt that say regardless of cancelation you will not get a refund I would of simply kept the reservation. Unfortunate because this was my first purchase. When I reached out I gave the person all the details and he assured me he would call me back and no call back as of yet. Confirmation#148171647. Would not recommend and will be my first and last purchase. Wish I would have checked reviews before hand. It's surprising because of the line of work they are people should be more satisfied with services they provide but lack at that.

SHOW ME THE MONEY!
We had 2 weeks booked in Florida and wanted to change locations due to weather. RCI “chat" told me if I cancelled the reservation, my points would be put back into my Wyndham account, NOT the RCI account. The points would take a few “minutes” to be put back into my account. So I cancelled the reservation expecting to use my Wyndham points for a vacation elsewhere. The next day there were no points added to my Wyndham account. I called and was told the points went back into my RCI account. I went up to the supervisor level and explained what happened. The supervisor told me that even thou I received bad information from RCI, they couldn’t put the points back into Wyndham. They didn’t care, they did nothing to help. The next day I called and talked to another supervisor. After a lengthly butt chewing, she agreed to rebook my original reservation. I received an email from RCI confirming the rebooking. SO….we go to check into Tuscany Village and they don’t have anything on file for the first week of our trip. After 30-45 mins of effort, Hilton saved RCI’s butt.
I can now say that I have been screwed by RCI, Hilton and Wyndham. Hilton just went up a few notches. Lori, saved RCI a lawsuit. It was as if she actully read Conrad Hiltons book on customer service.
Note-Do not believe anything the timeshare people say. YOU ARE ONLY $$$
Wyndham said they were going to "throw in" 2 weeks in a 3 bedroom unit if a purchase some more points. I get the certificate, it costs $500/week to get the room. That is not being "thrown in”. I called their supervisor she told me the certificate is free, it just costs $500 to use it. Can’t make this stuff up folks.
Hilton Grand Vacations on the Big Island. It was a 40 minute walk from the car to the room. We were in Ocean Towers with a view of a grass wall and goose poop. The timeshare folk told us since we don’t own there, we get the worst rooms they have. He was dead serious. We left after 3 days. (Lori and her manager, at Tuscany village restored some faith.)
Then RCI pulls this garbage. Folks, stay away from the Timeshare garbage. You as a person mean nothing. Its all about the initial money and monthly maintenance fee’s.
This should be a zero star
This should be a zero star. This company is the biggest scam and joke ever. Stay away from this SCAM. You look at other travel companies like Expedia and Booking.com the prices are cheaper. The RCI Exchange Plus is exactly like that. You pay the same price + you lose 10K plus of your exchange points. This company should be investigated for fraud and consumer abuse and stealing from hard working taxpayers.

RCI are a very poor service delivery…
RCI are a very poor service delivery company. They do not assess the resorts they subject their members to. A waste of money. Currently using Sterling Ooty- Fern Hill and I think I’m in the domestic quarters. It’s atrocious, to the point I’m cutting short a 7 day stay to 3 days. RCI can keep the profits.
