Like most great companies, it all started with an idea. In 1974, Jon and Christel DeHaan set out to add greater value to the timeshare experience when they pioneered the vacation exchange concept. The DeHaans developed a system that allowed owners to exchange time at their home resort for a stay at a different affiliated property—delivering a new level of flexibility and choice to timeshare owners and revolutionizing an industry in the process. Today, RCI remains the leader in vacation exchange, offering the world’s largest vacation exchange network and providing unrivaled products and services to enhance the vacation ownership experience. It’s one of the many reasons why more resorts trust RCI to deliver vacation exchange services to its subscribing members than any other company across the globe

We joined RCI as part of a package deal…
We joined RCI as part of a package deal when we purchased our timeshare in Aruba Divi 20 years ago. They are the most frustrating company I have ever dealt with, and I would not recommend them to anyone ever. If there was a lower no star rating I could give them, I would!!!

Consistently the worst website…
Consistently the worst website experience. I get paper statements stating I have 100K points which is accurate but online is always zero. I can't even log in anymore. The next question below in the review is - Date of experience - is there a way to just pick ALL Dates? My latest was today.

Not what they used to be.
Long term RCI member here. In the last 3-4 years have found it next to impossible to get a decent exchange where I want when I want even a year out. Just sold my points for less than they cost me ...again. RCI fee's have gone thru the roof, it seems that only the scraps are left for the exchangers and yet their are literally thousands of units available FOR RENT! Very disappointed! Where at one time we used to be pleasantly surprised when we got to an exchanged resort now we are disgustingly surprised at what we have exchanged into. My biggest pet peeve? EVERONE KNOWS THE ROOM WE ARE GETTING-THE RESORT, RCI, THE MANAGEMENT......EXCEPT FOR ONE PERSON...ME..THE GUY PAYING FOR IT!! This is the most irritating thing and absolutely needs to stop. I'm probably done with RCI and don't want to talk with them about it. If I talk to ten RCI people I get 10 different answers. They need to change or they need to lose their business.

I am a current Wyndham rewards member and had to move my points out of wyndham into RCI which we are co-members of. After not finding a place RCI/Wyndham was able to help get me a unit.

Called to do an exchange ( trade week…
Called to do an exchange ( trade week for discount on cruise). Digital assistant said membership had expired. When I logged into RCI My Account said membership current till Dec 2024. Called member services (what a joke!). Told they couldn’t give me any info re membership - not authorised, despite me reciting all my details. Really? Six phone calls later, finally told membership was current. Asked them to convey that to sales team. Told could not do, not authorised. Asked to speak to supervisor. Told there wasn’t one. Really, no supervisor?
Bottom line - this is RCI’s error, not mine, and no one will fix it!
Got an email survey and filled it in. Asked for a person to contact me (it was one of the options). Still not resolved so what do I do now?????
Don’t ask me to email you again!
What’s gone wrong here? In the past RCI was good. Have used them for 20 years.
BTW what does ‘Member Services’ actually do if they can’t fix a simple clerical problem?
Don’t bother!

Cancellation Issues
Due to personal reasons we decided 2 years ago to cancel our RCI membership. We searched high and low how to legally cancel our membership. Finally, we found the document, "Terms & Conditions of RCI Points Subscription Membership" On page 13, #20 a. "Cancelling" it states "by telephone or in writing". So we called thinking it would be faster. Each time we got the runaround. But the third time, we were specifically told if we don't pay the fee, it will automatically cancel and they would not be able to take our points. Well 2 years later, we called to book a getaway to our home vacation only to find out RCI has been taking our points!!! Upon contacting RCI again a few days ago, We finally found out there is a form we have to fill out. Wow!!!! Wow!!!! Wow!!! In the meantime we lose our points because their policy says we have to stay members until we use our points (if we want to keep those points). We would rather give up our points than stay with them!!!

RCI is the biggest scam out there!!
RCI is the biggest scam out there!!! Do not do it!! We were made all these promises and the places you can stay are not nice!!! There are extra booking fees on top of everything!! No one calls us back and we have tried to get some answers for 2 months!! You have a 5 day cancellation policy but they do not send you the login information for 3 weeks so you can’t see the crappy options you have!!!!! This is a joke! Worst decision we ever made. We are in the process of getting a lawyer to get out of this.

I am not getting heard
I am not getting heard. We booked a touring holiday in Spain for our 50th wedding anniversary. We landed at Malaga, picked up car hire and drove to Roquetas de Mar. RCI refunded my money and points as the resort was closed. We had to find a hotel for the second week it was that bad. The 3rd week of our holiday was in Denia. Again we got money refunded. The apartment was so noisy we could not sleep.During our time there we contacted RCI via the internet. As we had upgraded to RCI Platinum, this gave us options to upgrade or change resort. Every day for 3 days I went onto this system and was offered various places which had availability. I asked for a few including one at La Manga. This was completely ignored. I then phoned RCI and was told there was only one place available in Spain. This was at Marbessa club, however the person I spoke to told me it would not be up to my standards. I have complained to RCI and keep getting the run around. They misrepresented the places I booked, for example one of the resorts states, there is a full kitchen. I have been offered £50 to disappear. I have been embarrassed and insulted by RCI. This was such a special time in my life ruined as I have had to keep begging RCI to help. We had to spend time during our holiday looking for other places to stay, Everytime a speak to customer services at RCI I get a smart ass answer but no attempt at a solution.
Customer service improvement
I opened a savings account last October after reading about it on the Martin Lewis website. I recently tried to pay in money from my linked account and was rather worried when it didn't appear, and then I saw all of these bad reviews! It then appeared back in my linked account 2 working days later. I contacted customer support this morning to find out what had happened and waited on hold for around 15 mins. I was then put through and I have to say the support I received was excellent. She told me where I had gone wrong and then stayed online to talked me through the process, which worked perfectly. I asked her about the reviews and she said that since the Martin Lewis show last year they had been swamped with calls and other emails etc and this had affected their service. She said that now things had settled down the service should return to normal. I felt very reassured and thought I would share my experience.
RCI Does Not Deliver on its Promises
We attended a sales presentation Jan 6 2022 and heard all the promises about how great everything is. We submitted our paperwork late March 2022. Today is 14 months later and nothing we were told has been done. We are having to pay another year of maintenance fees at the timeshares we are transferring, because the closing company is slow. We have not been able to use our RCI points because everything we wanted was booked, and once you pay all the fees to use your points, it's cheaper just to get an Airbnb or similar.
This is just a big scam. Save your money.

DON'T Combine your deposits if you have a lot of points
RCI recommends that you combine you deposits to get more trading power which I did and started an ongoing search for the fall of 2023. We decided to look for something in the spring of 2023 and found a place to go at the end of April. Well guess what, in order to use the combined deposit, you have to cancel the ongoing search. I have plenty of points to do both, that is over a hundred. So basically if you follow RCI advice you get screwed and calling them is a total waste of time as they cannot do anything

All they want is profit - greed not service
I have had the worst experience with them these past few years, ever since I had a stroke in 2019 and was unable to travel. I contacted my Time share and relinquished my points week and they suggested I ring RCI straight away and tell them I need to cancel. I rang RCI and asked them to cancel and they said I am paid up for another 8 months and had points remaining so best to ring them before renewal as the cant do it now. So before renewal I contacted them again by phone(what a pain) and they said I have not signed the cancellation form they sent me ! So i have paid another membership fee and signed the form that states that membership can only be ended after a years notice. *** Having had a stroke and now retired, this is something I cannot afford, especially the stress of it all. I have been a member for 20 years, but since the last takeover it's just GREEDY

Would give MINUS rating if I could
Would give MINUS rating if I could. Booked in 2019 through RCI what would have been a wonderful trip with Collette through Europe for 2020. Trip postponed to late 2022 due to Covid. Checked 9 months prior to departure date for policy regarding cancellation without incurring a penalty, as I was monitoring the requirements concerning Covid and travel. RCI rep said I could cancel up to 30 days prior to departure to cancel if needed. (I also had travel insurance with Generalli Insurance.) Thought it sounded it too close to departure date; rep was supposed to verify with Collette and call me back. Didn't hear back from RCI. Forward to 4 months before date, I called RCI back, and found that I had just missed the date by ~7 days in which I could cancel without a penalty. The penalty was now a 75% loss. ($7500). At this time RCI states they had sent me an email earlier to give the cancellation date. Sending an email is NOT fulfilling your requirement to get back to the customer when previous communication was by phone. At that time period, I was not able to monitor my email account and had nearly 98K emails.
NONE of the parties involved, (RCI, COLLETTE, GENERALLI INSURANCE) took any responsibility for the situation. Each pointed the finger at a different entity. Because of incorrect information, and RCI's failure to correctly communicate with me the customer, I lost $7500; also paid over $1100 for travel insurance which was a waste as well.
It also took over 6 months and several phone calls to recoup the $1400 and change which is all RCI would refund me of my over $9200 trip. I will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, EVER deal with RCI again.

This is a piece of poop ass company. Edward who i spoke with on the phone made 2 unauthorized transactions with my card over 500$. I was then told a supervisor would contact me in 72 hours and the next day I was told there is no supervisor, only account holders. These people are SCAMMERS

RUN they are terrible!!!!!!!
RUN, RUN, RUN!
RCI is a rip off. I booked a trip and then canceled it 11 days later. I called today (a month and 1 day after booking) to see why my $342 was not refunded and learned that I only had one day to cancel the trip. One day grace period. This company is not worth it! I will not get my money back either and they said that no credit could be given. I will get my points back but I paid 80 to protect the points so thank God I did ugggh. Please run, don’t do it ! The timeshare business is a rip off too. I’ll forever tell the world to avoid this company and ALL timeshares!
Signed unhappy customer😔

Nothing was right
Nothing was right. I reserved, more than amonth ago, a resort at Grant Mayan Acapulco From 12 to 19 of march for 5 adults and one baby. RCI Accepted and charged me. Based on that I bought plane tickets for all my family. !3 days ago! I recived an Email comunicated to me that accoding to 1-3 pilicies of the resort my reserve was cancelled. RCI neve told me about that policies, homever they told me that at the moment of the reservation that policy appears. I have called you several times and finally today, Dominic, after carefully lloking find the note. I had been with you 26 years, also I am a platinum member, and you have no respnsability at all. It is a real scam. My number is 4361-00040.
DO NOT BUY
How do you expect to get individuals to buy a timeshare from you when you lie to them during the promotional stage?? We were promised several items when we were being encouraged to attend the informational session. Come to find out after the informational session we were indeed mislead. I am 100% happy that I did not sign any agreements with this company.

Worst company ever. Beware
Worst company ever. Total scam. They take your weeks and never have anything available in return then they make you buy extra time to use your points because there is nothing available. Over twenty years of points gone because I would no longer pay to keep extending the time. They wouldn’t even compromise in the name of good customer service. No real loss because their properties are run down and not in good places. Can’t stress enough. Stay away!

At your own risk.
My husband and I paid $3000 for this 3 year program to try it out. Every time we took a vacation we couldn't even use our points. We are in our last year with our points expiring this year and we are not going to renew or join. I guess it could be beneficial if you pick random places to stay and you have a week off to go. Keep in mind you still have to pay resort fees and an exchange fee to RCI.
