If I may offer a suggestion: it would be advisable to provide two keys for the car.
One day, I lost the key, and only after a long search and a racing heart did we find it—thanks to a kind person who placed it in a nearby shop close to where it was lost.

Absolutely fantastic experience. No problem at the picking up and no problem at return. Very kind personnel. The car was prepared to fit all the luggage. No problem at all.

Their car took us to all places we wanted to visit, and most of them were accesible only by F-roads. We had no problem with the car. What else would you need?

I think it could be useful to prepare a written document to give to the traveler to explain well some Icelandic rules that are a bit strange for foreigners.
For example: the Akureyri tunnel has no barriers, but you pay and only online within 24 hours!
Anyway, well done, Iceland is very nice.

I booked with Reykjavik cars through their web page. We rented a dachia duster 2022 model with all protection. Inclusive a wheel and undercarriage as well as a sand and ashes protection. First the booking was forwarded to 4x4 cars, a company we tried to avoid by going with Reykjavik Cars. Then in their email I realized that the total came out way too low. Turns out that some technical error occured either at Reykjavik cars processing or at the booking process (we were 2 people, we booked what was advertised as a total insurance package, and it showed a total of something between 650-700€. We did NOT make a mistake or uncheck any box.) So now we basically don‘t have what we were advertised but still had a contract for renting a car we were essentially tricked into. Now comes the real kicker, we then tried to call the company on their ”24/7“ to try and come to some arrangement. Turns out their oh so great ”24/7“ hotline either simply doesn‘t exist or at least was offline. With noone else to turn to we called 4x4 cars. They confirmed that no insurance booking went through. We then had to buy a new insurance package for 305€, (what choice did we have at that point?) coming out to a similar total price but without undercarriage and wheel protection as 4x4 cars doesn‘t offer these insurances. I‘m honestly just happy that 4x4 cars didn‘t totally rip us off, what could we have done if they had charged us 500€? Anyways, we were essentially scammed out of an insurance that we now can not even have, forced to rely on a rental company we did not book at and did not get any support or even contact.

I don‘t know if this is some super elaborate scam or if they are just utterly incompetent but with certainty I can say that I do NOT recommend using this service. There were so many factors that lead us to this service (24/7 hotline, full insurance package, fair price) that in the end simply didn‘t turn out to be true. Not. Trustworthy.

Serious Company that you can trust completly. Our experience was very pleasent as Reykjavík Cars were reactif, always available and kind. If we go again to Iceland we will contact them again. We recomend.

Great car, quick problem resolution ( tyre had very low pressure immediately replace with a similar model), quick service and easy pick up/ return. Quite happy with service.

All process was very easy. Somebody picked up from airport, signed the papers and all done. We had a lovely holiday in Iceland.
