Wretched customer service that only…

Wretched customer service that only skims emails instead of trying to fully help customers. They charged me for an item without ever sending me a receipt for it. When I called them out on it, they only stated that their vague policies allows them to bill me without sending a receipt. After weeks, they finally cancelled the remainder of my orders, which I asked for, and suspended my account, which I was planning on asking for. No company that states they can bill you without a receipt at the time of running your card deserves any sort of business.

What a lousy company

What a lousy company! Every step of the way, horrible experience! I ordered two gift cards a couple of years ago, and thought they were lousy then, with all the hoops they made me jump through, verifying my card. (A card that I use almost daily, and have never had questioned, in the several years I've been using it) It took a week just to finally receive the emailed code, it's such an insane process. Fast forward to last week; l don't like to give cash as a gift, so I decided to order another gift card from them. I figured after all I went through the last time, it would breeze through this time, since all my information, and the card is still the same. Wrong! I placed my order, received a confirmation email, and then.... nothing. After waiting several days I contacted them, asking where my order stood. A couple of days later I receive an email saying my card needed verifying, and that somehow notice of that got lost, instead of being sent to me. I would need to check my credit card account, and provide them with the amount of the charge, and the name on the charge. Oh, and the information would drop off my account, a couple of days after posting. I go to my card account, and no charge of any sort, it's already dropped off, since it's now been a week since I placed the order. Contact them again, again wait, and now I'm told that I will need to contact my credit card company, and have them dig up the information. Are you kidding me? I have to go through all this to buy from them? That will never happen, ever again!! Oh, and be forewarned, they're one of those companies that is using Covid to explain all of their issues, even though all of these issues were there two years ago.

I can’t log in to my account

I can’t log in to my account. It says the whole “username and password are incorrect” but my thing is, it is correct. The username and password both have been saved on my phone and computer. Yet it isn’t taking it. I have not changed the email not password. Going to the whole “forgot password” doesn’t even work. I cannot get the email to change my password and I tried plenty of times.

What am I supposed to do? Constantly use new emails just so I can create new accounts?

Am I the only one having this problem? It sucks

(My gmail isn’t my right stuf account email)

Update: it's a testament to how bad this company is with the fact that when you try to contact this company's customer service, you have to wait an average of 2-3 days for a reply, but AS SOON as you leave a negative review, a response is given less than 8 hours later by them trying to validate their services, maybe if you applied that energy into actually being a good business, the time spent defending yourself from the bad and honest reviews you recieve would be nil. As a consumer, I would look at all the negative reviews that have been left about them and take a look at what complaint we all have in common. On sitejabber, Right Stuf has a consumer rating of 2.33 stars from 45 reviews indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Consumers complaining about Right Stuf most frequently mention customer service and credit card problems.
And in regards to this review being "better worded than the strong language directed at our staff", I swore and was rude with your con artists in 1 out of the 15 emails I sent, and that was the final one when I told you all where to go and how to get there, I'd be more than happy to post them and prove it had this site allow me to do so, but nice try 👍.

Very, very, VERY sketchy company, made an order, they charged me, then took a week to tell me that they needed to "verify" the purchase, after that went down, waited another week for them to ship my item, got fed up, tried to cancel my order (april 6th) was told on the 7th that my order could not be cancelled as it had already shipped out, that was a blatant lie as I recieved an email on the 9th that my order had just been shipped.... 3 days AFTER I tried to cancel, and 2 days AFTER they told me it was too late. Utterly HORRIBLE and unprofessional customer service, nothing but a bunch of con artists working there. As much as I'd hate to say just use Amazon, they are the WAAAAAAAAY better option and the lesser of two evils than this sham of a business... also, I have an email from them saying my guaranteed delivery date was the 13th, I live on the western side of canada, it is now the 14th, and it appears to still be on the eastern side of the states..... wow, that $24 they scammed me out of for shipping was really worth it! Also, they list prices, yet nowhere on the site does it specifically say it's in US dollars, something they should really let people know when they're placing an order so it's less of a blow when they see on their credit card statements that they were charged almost 50% more than they thought they were paying, I agreed to pay almost $40, not the $60 I was charged. Avoid this business like covid.

At RightStufAnime.com we utilize fraud scoring software in order to verify customer orders. The billing address on your order must match your credit card billing address. If software indicates there is a suspicion of fraud, your order may be held for review, or rejected entirely. Unfortunately, your order needed the additional verification and it did take longer for us to verify due to currently working with a reduced staff to maintain social distancing guidelines.

When you contacted us to cancel the order, the order had already been processed through our system and into the containers with other orders being shipped out. At that point, there is no way for us to sort through the thousands of orders being shipped out to find your order, which is why we advised that we are unable to cancel the order at that point. You keep referring to us con artists, and while we adamantly disagree, the language used in this review is at least better than what was being directed at our staff.

As for the email 'guaranteeing' a delivery date, every major shipping company has continued to report that they're running behind normal delivery times. We don't guarantee deliver times since the shipping times can be so volitale right now and the delivery process is out of our control once it leaves our warehouse. However, I do see that your package is an your area of Canada right now (4/14). Shipping to Canada does have a cost associated with it and there's nothing we can do about duties and taxes that are accrued.

We appreciate the feedback regarding not stating that the prices were in US Dollars. We are a company doing business out of the US, shipping from the US, so all prices have always been listed as $US. This information has been added to our website under the Ordering and Payment section to avoid confusion in the future.

You mentioned to us that this order gave you anxiety because other companies (including Amazon, who you've referred in your review) had previously cancelled your orders for the same item. We empathize with the feeling but did everything in our part to get your order to you as quickly as possible while still making sure to protect ourselves from any potential fraud.

Incredibly sketchy

Placed an order off my credit card. Received an email almost two weeks later asking for identification. Literally everything you'd need to steal someone's identity. So I called their customer service and they told me it was part of their policy. They asked me to cancel and reorder with paypal. Needless to say, I told them to cancel the order and I will not be doing any business with them.

Everything back to near perfect

UPDATE to my problems
(read my previes reweiw below the update)

I was very lucky to find a really helpfull person on the rightstufanime live chat. This person was able to answer all my question about my order, with the additional information, the delay and so on. Just a few days after my order was on the way, and everything i recieved was there with no damage what so ever, because of the way rightstufanime secure the items. So even though, the box with the items, was pretty ruined several places, because of the way the delivery firm handled the it, all were perfekt inside ^^

Thanks a lot rightstufanime kep up the great service you always give your costumers.

Okay i have ALWAYS used rightstufanime through the years bying about 3-400 dollars at the times since i live in Europe and there have nerver been any problems what so ever with delivery, question sent to them ect... Sadly this is not the case this time. I placed an order on march 15 2021 order no. 295-SO2588696 and then waited. About one and a half week after i got an e-mail that they need additional information, to verify my identity (personal information exept from what they already knew)
I answered back with in 30 min. with the information since the mail stated that i had to reply before 48 hours or my order would be canceled...
Ar the same time i sent another mail to rightstufanime to make sure that everything was fine and my order would be sent. The reply i got frome the second mail stated that they would contact me on my mail within 72 hours...1 Day more than the first mail asked for.

To this day on march 26 i havent heard anything from anyone at rightstufanime anime...

There is no problem with the money in this case, i got al my money back without any problems. Though i would rather have had the order i placed..

I really hope that i get a reply in here since i can't get any information from you through the mail

I have a special need brother and everytime he calls to place a order the agents are rude to him and 1 agent raised her voice at him and proceeded to be rude and refused to help him. What is wrong with you people?

Every single phone call is recorded and every call that sounds like a rep is having issues our supervisor jumps in and assists with the call and coaches the representative later. So, if you would like to provide specifics, like your brothers first name, date and approximate time the call took place, I will be more than happy to pull the recordings and listen to them and will take necessary actions if applicable.

Additionally, you can call in and asked to speak with a supervisor if you felt like your brother was not being spoken to properly. We welcome feedback, but prefer you be specific when providing it so we can coach our staff.

Larger Manga Order - Great Packaging

I knew it would take a little more time but it was well worth it. I ordered 22 manga volumes and it was packed securely with plenty of padding. It's obvious their warehouse and packaging team care about what they are doing.

I have bought from rightuf a few times…

I have bought from rightuf a few times and never had any problem with the figures I ordered. I decided to order an imperfect figure which was stated as damaged box but the figure was in perfect condition. When I received the figure, the hair was broken and it has been over a week since I asked for a refund over the phone. I sent in pictures like they asked, the agent asked if I wanted to get a refund. I answered yes and there has been no response from the agent in over 5 days. There customer service is absolutely terrible and very mismanaged. Using covid as an excuse for customer service which is probably handled at the home of the agent is also insulting. The agent that I spoke with also has an attitude like she doesn't care at all. Please improve your customer service.

Edit: My case was solved, it took longer than anticipated but they compensated me nicely for the long wait. The last person that I spoke with was also pretty friendly.

I've heard from others that your customer service was bad even before the covid situation. I have been nothing but kind to every person from your staff that I spoke with with. I like your shop but if you can admit that your customer service is not ideal then maybe you can improve it. I wish you the best and hope your store can become even better than what it is now.

We actually do NOT work remotely and while our staff are under a lot of pressure they do care and they take an awful amount of abuse each day. Final edit: their answer was to delete my account and cancel my order. After supporting them and spending tons of money over many years, this is how this company repays my loyalty, don’t waste your time or money.

I have spent 1000s on their site, especially before they raised the free shipping threshold by 50%! It used to be easy to get 50$ worth of items and check out. Now you need to get 75$ For free shipping, but most stuff is “no in stock, expecting restock”.

So for Christmas I made a huge order, enough to to qualify for free shipping many times over. Christmas came and went and I had not even a tracking number. I contacted and was told “your order contained out of stock items so we won’t ship any of it until it’s all in stock”. It’s been a month. They want ME to pay separate shipping fee to ship part of the order, even though I could have ordered 2 orders that both qualified for free shipping.

The customer service wasn’t helpful and was quite rude “well then why didn’t you make two orders?”. And “we sometimes ship partial orders, but it’s at our discretion”. Thanks! Now I know you didn’t do it because you just didn’t want to.

I won’t be spending my money here any more.

Edit: I went back and forth with this company’s complaint dept 3 times on this matter and still have no resolution. I was told that even if I placed two ordered I would have to wait for items to be come in for both orders to ship, which I thought was ludicrous! I understand how hard this time has been on small business, I run one myself, but if a customer wants their in stock items then you say “ok sure, we will ship them” or at least “I understand, if you pay the shipping cost on the partial then we will get it right out”.
Instead it’s “nope” and closed my case- 3 times now. Bad customer service, bad business.

Our shipping policy is on every item on our website under the "Shipping Info" tab, but we've provided below for your review. Additionally, we partial ship as our order volume allows and with reduced staff and only working Monday through Friday partial shipping has been extremely difficult to accommodate.

Our shipping rate increase was a result of numerous increases by our carriers and since our average customer AOV is significantly over $75, we chose to increase the free shipping threshold instead of increasing the prices on all of our items.

All Canadian and International orders are held until all items are in stock.

For domestic orders, If an order is placed with in-stock items as well as pre-order or back ordered items, the order will remain unshipped until all products are in-stock with the following exceptions:

If you have another order that is fully in-stock, when we process that order, we will ship all products that are available on ALL of your orders with this shipment.

Our system will occasionally release domestic orders for partial shipping based on our order volume, usually 50% of your products have to be in-stock, however when this occurs it will pull in-stock products from your other orders if applicable.

Generally, the rules stated above are followed, however we reserve the right to partial ship at any time. Therefore, if you are wanting something shipped immediately it is recommended to place separate orders for your in-stock vs. pre-order products.

Good price with poor customer service

Generally you will find slightly better price than other site for anime titles, it is great when as long as you won't run into any issue that require you to contact customer service, because customer service is below average. I ran into issue a couple of time, once I got DVDs that highly questionable of being bootleg, the artwork cover on the disc was poorly printed with personal disc label, I reported the issue and they refused to acknowledge my issue being valid. (Even after I bought authentic copy elsewhere to compare with the copy I got from RightStuf.) and another time I bought Blu-ray disc it kept skipping at certain part of the video, they want me to send them screenshot which I did, after a few days later customer accept my request for return but I have to send it back at my own expense even though my return was no fault of my own.

We only sell original products. Some publishers have had issues with replicators taking short cuts like photo copying covers when the main stock runs out. This most certainly diminishes the quality of the cover. We have no way of know what is inside the case as we do not open them prior to shipping. So if you perceived something to be a "bootleg" the error would be with the publisher not with Right Stuf Anime.

Must-visit site for fans of manga!

I’ve been a customer on and off for about 4 years now and I’m addicted! Competitive pricing, fast shipping, excellent packaging. (There was one time when I placed an order and it shipped that same week. This was during the pandemic too, which still blows me away!)

For fans of manga and anime, I think Right Stuf is the gold standard. They really do understand their audience. I appreciate the weekly sales and constant giveaway opportunities!

Even with the pandemic, I’ve continued to have good experiences with them. The one thing I can’t speak on is their customer service, as I’ve never had to reach out to them. But I do appreciate the periodic updates via email and sites like Reddit. If I had to make one complaint, it’s that I get signed out of my account quite often (within the same hour) and that does make browsing a little more tedious.

All in all, a great place to shop from. Just writing this makes me want to place a new order!

Right Stuf has the Right Stuff

I have been a customer of Right Stuf Anime for a few years now and a Got Anime member for about 8 months.

Being a Got Anime member is absolutely worth it for the discount you can get on preorders and regularly priced items which are usually already discounted.

Shipping during these Covid times can take a bit longer than your Amazons and other giant retailers, but Right Stuf’s packaging is excellent and your stuff will not look like it’s been run over before getting to you!

If you want to have access to a wide variety of products you can’t get elsewhere, preorders that often arrive earlier than street date and you want to support a smaller company over the big box stores then I highly recommend Right Stuf for your anime, manga and figurine purchases!

Best Anime & Manga retailer online

There is very little that I can say that I dislike about RightStif's service. I occasionally have had problems with an order (no online retail service is ever completely free of mistakes), but those problems have always been handled in the most professional manner possible.

RightStuf continues to have the best deals, widest selection, and stellar service of any of the online Anime & Manga retailers, and I will continue to be a customer of theirs for a very long time to come.

Hard to find a better supplier for manga and anime, though there is room for improvement.

I have been ordering manga and anime from Right Stuf since 2015 and have not found anywhere better overall. When I occasionally compare pricing and selection, I typically find that they can't be beat when it comes to books and DVD/Blu-Ray discs. They are generally quick to ship and pack for shipping better than any others I have ordered from. I recommend some patience with the free shipping option. Sometimes it has taken longer than expected, but I have never not received an order.

However, being great means maintaining a high standard and if I have one serious complaint, it would have to be with Customer Service and how Support Cases are handled. I try to be patient and submit my questions and issues via the support case form on the web site. The problem is that when I get a response, the case gets closed and I have found it impossible to follow up and get additional assistance or information. It feels like "here is an answer to your question; take it or leave it" and that has been incredibly frustrating for the last few cases I submitted. They were never resolved to my satisfaction - I got an answer, but that answer included a suggestion that might have worked, but the case was closed and though I could add a reply, I never got an answer again. I eventually figured out a way to work around the issue myself.

I hope to see some improvement in that regard because the experience has left me a bit disillusioned with Right Stuf recently. It was not always like this.

Great for cheaper manga

I use this site mostly for manga, because it's almost always cheaper than other places I could get it. Occasionally there are manga that are cheaper elsewhere, but that's the exception. I only know of one series that is consistently cheaper elsewhere (for those wondering, it's Berserk at instocktrades).

I haven't used this site as much for anime, but there's deals all the time so even if it's a bit more than you want to spend, there's a good chance it'll go on sale at some point for about 90% of the anime on there.

Also, free shipping over $75. (was $50, but they increased it recently. It might go back eventually)

So yeah, this place is pretty great. I've never had any problems with orders or customer service, so that's cool too. Also, if there's any older manga you want, sometimes Right Stuf has some decently old stuff for pretty cheap. Not consistently, but often enough that I think it's worth mentioning.

Attempted double charge, cancelled my order when they ran out of stock.

I ordered an album 5 months in advance, was charged and paid in full. RightStuf tried to charge me again and my bank stopped the duplicate transaction. I had honestly forgotten I'd even ordered from them until my bank notified me of the attempted duplicate charge. RightStuf asked for my bank details showing that I was charged (advised by my bank specifically to not do this) and then cancelled my order when I refused. The album I ordered was out of stock on day 1 of release, so my assumption is that they don't even have one to send me - despite paying in advance. I'm in the process of attempting a charge back with my bank, and I've filed complaints with the BBB. I wouldn't trust this company with

Side note, literally every 5 star review for them screams fake on Trustpilot. There's no reviewers with more than one review aside from the generic 5 stars they've given RightStuf.

Edit: In the reply they state that they only take pre-orders in the form of Paypal or Sezzle. This is blatantly untrue as of 8/7/2020 - my card was charged via a normal debit transaction. Additionally - they state that they only charged a 1.00$ transaction to ensure the validity of the card number, again, not a true statement. Despite many recorded "disagreements" with former customers online they have a clear pattern of behavior well documented on many different review sites comparable to Trustpilot. This is not a new situation for them and I encourage anyone reading to look at other examples from 2020 and years past - the details are extremely similar for many other customers.

As our representatives tried to explain to you earlier, you were NOT charged when you placed the order, we do a $1 authorization to make certain your card is a valid credit card in order to hold preorder position. The $1 authorization eventually falls off, which can be 3 to 30 days depending on your card holding bank rules. However, when we attempted to authorize your card to ship you the vinyl, your card declined.

The only prepaid pay methods we accept are PayPal and Sezzle, so to claim you were charged but not willing to provide proof is simply unreasonable to expect we would just take your word for it, when our system is designed to bill credit cards only after orders have shipped. While it is unfortunate your card declined, there was no wrong doing on our part and we will be able to provide substantial documentation to support our side of this disagreement.

Great Prices and Service

Right Stuf has been my go-to for manga since I learned about them last year. I usually go to physical book stores so I can see the book in person, but of course Covid has hindered that a bit. I was hesitant at first as I've had bad luck in the past with shipping books – they always seem to arrived damaged. But I was extremely pleased to see my books arrive from them packaged carefully and securely. You can tell that they put care into making sure your stuff fits just right into the shopping box.

Moreover, the prices are so much better than the cover price I pay at the book store, especially if you wait for one of their frequent sales. If you're like me and care a lot about book condition, this is the place to go for online manga shopping.
