Similar experience to other reviewers

Similar experience to other reviewers. Placed order almost two weeks ago. When I had heard nothing, I left a telephone message, but had no response. I have left a second telephone message and am awaiting response.

Excellent overall.

I had a very positive experience with RJL. I was able to find a set of headphones that were in stock and ready to ship that I had been unable to find elsewhere (Amazon was 7 weeks for shipping!)

There was some slight confusion on my end regarding order status, but a phone call and email (answered within an hour) cleared things right up.

Every employee I spoke with was friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend RJL to anyone that needs quality electronics and outstanding service.

I placed my order on February 28

I placed my order on February 28, 2019. Today is April 1, 2019 and I have yet to have anyone answer the phone or reply to my voice mail messages. This is terrible costumer service. I will also be looking for my refund.

can not get anyone to ever answer or return an email about my order, guess ill be requesting a dispute with my credit card company

Impressive

I contacted RJL shortly after 5:00 p.m. their time, to inquire about my order. Apparently there was some slight mixup, but Rich said he would check it out and get back to me the next day. It was less than an hour later that I received an email from him. He informed me the product would be delivered within the next 48 hours. The order arrived at my door before noon the following morning. I was very impressed with the fact that Rich worked into the evening taking care of business and communicated throughout the process; I never had to chase him down looking for answers.
This was the best customer service experience I can remember.

I ordered an item from them and it arrived less than a week later. I called them to ask what the status was and they said it was just delivered. It was at my front door! The customer service rep was very nice and helpful!

I ordered an envelope feeder on Dec 5 and have yet to receive, however my credit card was charged in my December billing cycle. I've made multiple attempts to contact the company via email, telephone and I've even tweeted them as of today and haven't received a response. The Contact Us options on the site don't appear to be functioning either. I'm almost at my wits end with my only recourse at this point is to dispute the charge --- very frustrated!

Update -- after writing this message I was contacted by a representative from rjl who is attempting to rectify my situation.

Went above and beyond to help us

I worked with Rich, who went above and beyond to help us place and receive our order. He shared personal updates all the way up through the delivery of the order. It was our first time purchasing from RJL Technologies, and he helped us find a protective case for our product which wasn't even offered on their website. He was able to secure the cases from the distributor and provide shipping at a discounted rate. Rich even took the time to share tracking information, while undergoing an evacuation from Hurricane Irma in Florida. We will definitely return to Rich and RJL Technologies for any specialty equipment needs. They offered the best price available for the product we needed and what turned out to be superior customer service. September 2017.

Good stuff

This company is very helpful and responsive to its customers. I had placed an order back in May, the product was unavailable at the time, they checked with the manufacturer multiple times for me so that I would have the tracking information and the delivery date, I have yet to receive the package, it is due to be delivered Friday. But all in all, it was a pleasure working with this company

Edit: received my package today right on time. I would definitely purchase from this suplier again. 10/10

good experience with RJL

I purchased some electronic equipment for my company. RJL filled the order fast and item arrived faster than I thought. They did a fraud verification call to ensure the purchase was legitimate, which I appreciated, and the staff was friendly. I will do business with them again!

I bought a laptop from RJL on …

I bought a laptop from RJL on 3.28.2017. Waited too long to have it shipped, so I called to cancel. The person on the phone said that they don't ship to residential addresses and that my order hadn't even been processed. In addition, my order had been flagged for fraud which it was not. If it was "flagged for fraud" why was I not informed and why was my order not immediately canceled and the money immediately returned? Also, I have no idea why it was "flagged for fraud". I hope that if a person actually DOES use a fraudulent card, that the company has the audacity to actually contact the CC or banking company to inform the CC holder. Never will do business again and highly discourage anyone else from using RJL.

Hi Summer, thank you for your review. We're responding to clarify for our customers the facts of this situation.

On 03/28/2017, we had received your order, and emailed you the same day stating that we would be happy to fill your order, but only through PayPal. At the time of your order, an authorization was made on your card, but no funds were collected by RJL.

There are numerous reasons why RJL, at times, requires that orders be paid for via PayPal, and paying through PayPal incurs no additional cost to our customers. There are Billions of dollars in E-commerce fraud annually, and all of us, from time to time, have had charges declined or flagged, even if not a fraudulent charge, due to the volatility of Internet commerce. This volatility is experienced not only by RJL, but also by any vendor that sells goods and services online.

Our request that you pay through PayPal was not meant to question your trustworthiness or integrity; as we stated in the email we sent you, "While your order may not be fraudulent, we are unable to fulfill your order utilizing the method of payment used at the time of checkout." The system we have in place has caught hundreds of fraudulent transactions over the years, and catching that fraud is what enables RJL to continue to sell at competitive prices, and provide high quality customer service to our thousands of customers.

We hope this will clear things up, and if you have any follow up questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

After 3 weeks of waiting for my product …

After 3 weeks of waiting for my product I decided to e-mail them to see where my item was. I did not receive a response after 2 days. I then called. I was told that my product was in stock but did not ship and he did not know why. What I did get promptly was the invoice and paid it immediately. Very poor service

Hi Mark, thank you for your review. We do apologize for the delay in responding, but we were investigating the details.

We received correspondence from you April 3---two weeks after your March 20 order, not three. At the time of your order, the item had not been in stock; it was available to order, but showed "no" next to "STOCK" in the description. In our order confirmation email, we state: "Please take note whether the items you ordered are in stock. If not in stock, lead time, on average, is 1-2 weeks, subject to change, and Ground shipments can take up to 7 business days to deliver once stock becomes available."

On April 3, when you spoke with one of our team members, it was not immediately known why your order hadn't shipped, since the item you had ordered was in stock. We went to work immediately on your order. The item had come into our inventory the evening before; it shipped April 3, and was delivered April 6. Manufacturer lead times are very volatile, and out of RJL's control; hence why we mention "subject to change" in our order confirmation email. Regardless, we do apologize for the frustration you experienced.

Regarding the immediate and prompt invoice, as also stated in our order confirmation email: "Your card is charged at the time of purchase."

We hope this will clear things up, and if you have any follow up questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us; we always appreciate feedback.

Little Accountability & Insufficient Order Status Communication

The product information when you order is not always accurate. Sometimes orders ship directly from manufacturers, but there is no way for a customer to know that before you place an order. In fact, even when the order is marked in stock, it was my experience that in can actually be out of stock, and not ship in the originally-specified 1-2 days.

When confronted about this discrepancy after not receiving an order for weeks, there was no accountability, ownership, or acknowledgement of the oversight. Just a flippant "your choices are to wait for the shipment (couldn't even offer an ETA), or cancel. What do you want to do?"

Subsequent conversations with the owner were professional and civil, but they still denied that the product was ever marked in-stock to begin with, despite my specific experience to the contrary.

Even if an item is out of stock (and you somehow miss that during ordering, or it is incorrectly marked during checkout) there is no order-specific notification or email to inform the customer "hey, your specific order was out of stock, be aware that delayed shipping will apply to your order." You're left to rely on a canned, generic, applies-to-any-and-all-orders message of "any out of stock order, if placed, may require additional time to ship."

How this strategy is viewed as sufficient and appropriate customer communication with regards to order status is rather baffling, especially given the otherwise diligent communication by management after a customer service issue is brought up.

I eventually received my order, and management was accommodating once this all became an issue, but they still seem to want to standby their existing system and order notifications that got them needlessly in this position to begin with, so I can't in good faith recommend ordering through this vendor if you are absolutely depending on items within a certain deadline.

Hi Brice, thank you for your review. We feel it's important to note at the outset for our customers that, despite Brice's concerns, he still ordered from RJL, even though he had dozens of other vendors to choose from (details below).

To clarify for our customers the facts of the situation, this order was, unfortunately, problematic from the start, because it was an inexpensive part that was discontinued, and RJL wasn't made aware of that until after Brice's order. In the initial call between RJL and Brice, Brice believed that his item showed as in stock on our site, but RJL believed it wasn't. However, subsequently, RJL did acknowledge that, due to a lack of communication from the manufacturer, it was possible it showed as in stock on our site. Regardless, RJL always takes responsibility, and once we were told the item was discontinued, we immediately notified Brice, who decided to purchase the replacement from us.

RJL has over 100,000 items on our site, with thousands of happy customers, and we always strive to provide the most up to date real time inventory information. But due to numerous factors beyond our control, there are rare times that something on our site may not be accurate, which we understand can be frustrating for a customer. If a customer ever has a question or concern about an item, he/she has numerous ways to contact us, including email, a sales department and a chat.

The other point of contention was Brice's dissatisfaction with the text of our order confirmation email. We always appreciate feedback, and we did note his suggestions. Irrespective of any difference of opinion between us, we value Brice's patronage, as we do all our customers, and are here to help with any other future orders.

Responsive, price-competitive, effective

I found RJL through a Google search and contacted the company to inquire about ordering 100 motherboards of a specific, difficult to locate type. Not only was RJL able to put together the quote, they gave me a better price than I was able to find elsewhere. They also found a great deal on high-end network interface cards that are specific to our application, and got the best price for us as well.
