Great service!

Recently ordered a Hyundai Tucson from RN Golden in Huddersfield and the service has been brilliant. Regular communication whenever requested and the Tucson N Line S is perfect for us. I would like to thank all of the team there!

I went to purchase a car and put a deposit of £200 down on the day of visiting - I'd already done my research and decided this was the car I hoped to purchase - no sales techniques were required and I agreed to pay full asking price as the salesperson confirmed they weren't able to negociate

The next day, I noticed on the website that RN Golden had an offer of £250 free fuel with any new or used car, must end Friday the 10th June - No start date or terms and conditions were stated along with the offer. The offer on auto trader stated '£250 free fuel when ordering this car between the 28th 10th June and 2022' which made no sense and didn't make it clear which month the offer started.

I emailed to query whether I was eligible for the offer to which I received the response that I wasn't. Firstly I was advised that they had a list of eligible vehicles, although the offer stated ALL new or used cars. I was then advised that I wasn't eligible as the offer started on the 28th May and I had put my deposit down on the 26th May.

Instead, I was offered gardx protection which had a retail value of £369. I wasn't satisfied with this so I asked if I could put the deposit down again, as I would still be £50 in credit - they confirmed I couldn't do this.

When I advised I wasn't happy with the service I had received, but still wished to purchase the car, I received an email from the manager Tony Mercer confirming they were taking back their goodwill gesture of the gardx and cancelling my order.

Here is a part of the email which I received -

' It is clear that you are not happy with the service that you have been provided. And at RN Golden we are not used to having unhappy customers.

As for the advert, the advert, it falls inside of trading standards approval.

I do feel that you are trying to find a loophole in our advert as you feel that you've missed out on an offer. however It is against trading standers rules to supply an offer after the closing date or retrospectively. Hence a different offer was made as a good will gesture.

As you are clearly not happy, I will therefore withdraw our goodwill gesture of supply you with guard X and will have your deposit refunded.(this will take one working day) And cancel your order.

hopefully, you will find another dealer more to your liking.

I'm sorry that we cannot do business on this occasion'.

The following day, I received an email from the salesperson who originally sold me the car asking if I was still picking the car up that day - a clear lack of communication

The car has since gone back on the market for £550 more than the original advert - I'd agreed to pay full asking price

You would think most companies would be glad of a sale in the current climate.

I wouldn't normally leave a review but I felt this extremely poor customer service deserved to be communicated

Bought a Tucson from them. Ahmed (Ed) could not have more helpful, even phoned me later to make sure everything was OK and I was happy with the purchase. I would have given him more than 5 stars if possible👍.

Bought a Hyundai i10 from Ed last week. Very efficient, personable service. Delighted with this car. Can highly recommend Ed and the garage.

For whatever reason, I hadn’t ever considered RN Golden in Lepton (Huddersfield) when looking for a new car but I’m so glad we called in. Friendly, helpful & refreshingly straightforward, not at all pushy and completely hassle-free. Would definitely recommend.
