A great new Acacia Garden Bench

A new Acacia Garden Bench bought as a replacement for an existing bench. Highly delighted with price, ordering process, ahead of schedule delivery and the quality and finish of the bench itself. Sturdy and good looking, and pretty easy to construct - a second person can help but is not essential. An excellent buy.

First time using the supplier

First time using the supplier, very good service, good updates, speedy delivery and pretty good product for the money daughter very happy as she can now sleep in the heat due to the air-conditioning unit. Perfect from start to finish, highly recomend.

Delivery massively delayed for an…

Delivery massively delayed for an urgent order I required. No email or communication given, no warning and long lead times on the phone to even speak to anyone. No alternative options and now been told I need to wait another 2-3days for an email to confirm it’s left the depot despite it’s supposed to be delivered today latest. Allowing customers to places orders they simply can’t fulfill.

Bought a new washing line

Bought a new washing line, but it arrived with parts missing. Called up to complain and was initially offered a 10% refund to purchase the missing parts myself. Even though they openly admitted there was an error in the warehouse. I assume they tried their luck by sending out a previously returned product.

After a lot of back and fourth, it was sorted in the end, and they are sending a new product in the post.

I would not recommend purchasing from Robert Dyas online as it seems like they don’t like losing out when they make a mistake and expect the customer to take the hit!

Ordering was easy but delivery not so…

Ordering was easy but delivery not so good. I got a text saying that the parcel would arrive between 16:47 and 17:47. When it hadn't arrived I checked DHL's website - which wasn't the easiest - it said that it had been delivered at 14:30 with a photo of it left a doorstep (not mine!). it also stated that it had been signed for by me - not true - no signature as it had just been dumped. Luckily I recognised the doorstep from the photo and went to collect it. It had just been left on somebody else's doorstep. NOT GOOD

The product itself was good.

I ordered a bbq and it stated the…

I ordered a bbq and it stated the delivery would arrive on Friday! Lo and behold it did not arrive. Saturday I chased the order as I had a very important event happening with over 50 guests and was very worried about the bbq. The customer service representative could not tell me anything other than it had been dispatched. Just before the event on Sunday it had arrived and the driver left the item at the door and drove away. I was forced to run after the driver and get them to take the item with them as the delivery was too late. Thank God I was able to borrow a bbq from a friend. I had to pay a private delivery firm to collect the bbq from my friend’s residence. An absolute nightmare! I am still awaiting a refund.

Delivery and assembly

Product very satisfactory but support inadequate as follows.
Package damaged but product undamaged. No instructions on assembly, unsatisfactory. Assembly therefore took some experience to complete. It is a 2 person job. Your advert did not adequately show requirement for complex assembly. My assembly was on ground floor, if delivery required using stairs assistance to location is essential. Your presentation was totally inadequate about location, delivery and assembly. I will not use your services again and I don’t anticipate a reply.

Delayed air conditioner order, poor communication, and disappointing first experience

This was my first time ordering from Robert Dyas, and unfortunately it has been a very upsetting and disappointing first experience.

I ordered an air conditioning unit from Robert Dyas on Bank Holiday Monday. I deliberately chose a slightly more expensive option because the website showed it would arrive earlier, on 28 May, and I needed it urgently because of the hot weather.

I called today because I had a feeling something was wrong with the delivery. I had already waited in for most of the day expecting it to arrive, but I had not been given any clear update or proper delivery information. I was then told there had been some kind of “mix up” and that my order had been delayed.

I also noticed that the air conditioner I ordered is now showing as out of stock. When I asked whether the one I had paid for had been sold or allocated elsewhere, the explanation I received did not feel clear. I was told they order in bulk and were waiting for the next bulk delivery to arrive. That may be true, but from a customer’s point of view it is very frustrating to pay for an item showing as available, wait in expecting delivery, and then only find out after calling that it will not arrive on time.

I asked to speak to a manager because I was unhappy with the delay, the lack of communication, the confusing stock explanation, and the fact that nobody could clearly tell me when my order would actually be delivered. I should not have had to chase this myself after waiting in for most of the day.

I was offered 10% off my next order, but that does not really help with the problem I am having now. I asked whether the 10% could be applied to this order instead, because this is the order that has actually gone wrong. Robert Dyas did agree to apply a 10% discount to this order, but I still do not think I should have had to ask for this in the first place, or have to deal with this problem at all.

After I accepted the 10% discount on this order, I was told it would arrive in the next 2–3 days. However, when this was then explained further, I was told it would arrive on Tuesday 2 June. In my view, that is now around five days, not 2–3 days. At that point, I felt too tired and frustrated to keep arguing or challenging it further.

With an air conditioner during hot weather, that is not a small delay. If I had known this would happen, I may have ordered elsewhere from a company that could deliver sooner.

However, even ordering from somewhere else is not a simple solution. It would mean having to cancel this order, wait for a refund, and possibly wait days or even weeks for the money to come back before I can properly sort out another one. That leaves the customer stuck, either waiting for a delayed product or being out of pocket while trying to buy a replacement elsewhere.

I am disappointed because the issue was not just the delay itself. It was the lack of clear communication, the unclear explanation about stock, the fact I had to wait in without proper information, and the goodwill offer originally being for a future order rather than the order that has actually gone wrong.

Before writing this review, I looked through some recent reviews to see whether this was just a one-off issue. I was honestly shocked to see that other customers appear to have experienced very similar problems with delayed orders, poor communication, stock issues, and having to chase Robert Dyas themselves for updates.

That makes this even more concerning, because it does not feel like a simple one-off mistake. It gives the impression that customers are being allowed to place orders with expected delivery dates that may not actually be reliable, and then they are left waiting or chasing when the order does not arrive as promised.

For any other customers who have experienced the same problem today, I would suggest asking Robert Dyas for the 10% discount to be applied to the product you have already bought, rather than accepting a discount on a future order. That is what I was eventually given, although I do not think customers should have to push for that when the problem was not caused by them.

As a first-time customer, this has not given me any confidence in ordering from Robert Dyas again. This company definitely would not be my first option in future. I will now have to wait and see whether the air conditioner actually arrives on Tuesday 2 June, but after this experience I am still worried it may not arrive then either.

Poor delivery scheduling

Choosing a delivery date is pointless, ordered a BBQ for Friday delivery it came on Saturday afternoon, with no notification from Robert Dyas.

They also suggested a BBQ cover on the site for the BBQ I ordered, it came as way oversized and few days later, again with no notification or information available as to where it was.

They have no place to contact for rapid customer service on weekends.

No wonder people stick to Amazon..

They say they have stock

They say they have stock. Take your money and a day before delivery say it’s not in stock and refund. Of course refund will take 5 days to process. So they will have had my money for over two weeks earning interest for them with no comeback. Imagine if they do this for thousands of people a day. What a way to earn money from interest they earn. Shouldn’t be allowed.

Ordered a shed

Ordered a shed. It was delivered two weeks later than expected and now it is constructed there is a fault in the roof so it has a large leaky hole. Despite complaining about the delivery I remain unsatisfied and would not recommend or use Robert Dyas again. Totally anticlimactic shopping experience resulting in more issues and time wasting than actual guidance or communication could have avoided.

I have found the staff at Robert Dyas…

I have found the staff at Robert Dyas to always be polite and helpful, whether face-to-face or telephonically. However, the courier company, Evri, has not delivered my parcel on the date stipulated by Robert Dyas, nor has Evri delivered the parcel on the two consecutive delivery dates they specified in their email notification. I made a telephonic complain to Robert Dyas this morning, but I still do not have a revised delivery date from Evri.
