This is really a review for the German…

This is really a review for the German company Juwelo, as Rocks and Co. are simply the English-speaking service branch of that company.

First, on the positive side, everything I've had from them has been top notch, and sent quickly, unless it was in creation, and even then it was sent quickly for a custom-made item. Slightly more expensive than their chief competitor in the UK, Gemporia, but I would expect that, as the quality of the stones - the colour saturation, clarity, cut - is superior, as is the metalwork - better made, more generous metal weights. I've had some Ethiopian emerald rings from them that are stunning, as well as an unheated Padparadcha sapphire ring; the SI diamond pieces made for me in creation are gorgeous pieces that will last forever; and the Cavill silver pieces I've had are also very good.

But on the negative side, I've never before encountered a company that makes it so hard to buy anything from them! You have a window of about 5 seconds in which to buy anything if you're bidding on an auction, and the pieces unsold at auction go on to a 'Past Auctions' page - but there is no indication there of the remaining stock, nor of the remaining sizes, nor can you buy directly from the page. The phone generally isn't answered, so you have to email the company in order to buy anything; and, while they reply reasonably quickly, there is no way of knowing whether you've missed out on something in the intervening time, plus all this is very, very time-consuming. You have to check in to the website all day if you want to find something in particular, and watch the entire show of a stone for an hour or more if you want to bid. I honestly don't have that sort of time to devote to shopping. In addition, they have stopped broadcasting from Sky, which means the show is accessible only from the website. It really seems like they want to make obtaining any of their jewellery as difficult for the consumer as they possibly can, so I have pretty much gone back to Gemporia, though I'm being very picky about what I buy from them; their site and buying procedures are professionally streamlined, and, while Juwelo's products are made with the utmost professionalism, something has gone very wrong with the way they are selling into the UK market, and possibly also the German one.

Juwelo clearly hold an enormous amount of stock but only a tiny fraction of this stock is listed on the website for immediate purchase; this seems like a squandered opportunity to me. They could solve most of their problems by simply getting almost of the stock they hold on to the website for purchase, though not at the inflated prices they are currently asking; they could make up for the reduced margins by selling a great many more pieces than they must be doing at present.

I hope Juwelo take these points on board, because it seems a shame to be putting so much time and money into the design and manufacture of jewellery, only for a good percentage of that jewellery to be sitting around unsold.

Dear Valeria,

Thank you for your kind words. In regards to the past auctions page, you are correct it is simply a page showing purely past auctions - you have to call regarding the items availability. Regarding our phone-lines they are available the majority of the day, perhaps you have called in a very busy period.

The items do sell very quick online that is a frustration we completely understand. However we do still have a lot of very successful bids from UK customers. Juwelo is on TV in Germany, and so online viewers in UK also compete with online viewers in France, Holland and Spain.
If you ever have any further questions or queries feel free to call us on 0800 931 3333. We will pass on your feedback.

Kind regards

Dear Fiona,

Hope you are well. Thank you for your review. We will be calling you shortly to discuss this with you, you may have called us at an extremely busy time as we have had a large increase in demand recently. If you press 1 and it cuts you off it means the bid was unsuccessful. We apologise for your recent calling experience with us, we do really appreciate your custom with us.

Happy to be your customer, Rocks and Co and Juwelo!

Wonderful company, first class service here in UK and Germany. Never had any problems, neither with returning and refunding nor with ordering by email long after close of sale. Always bought beautiful items, treasures in my box. I can recommend Rocksandco as well as Juwelo, their German sister company. I spent a lot of needle money with them. What a difference to TJC - read my reports on them, disgusting.

Rocks and Co used to be my favourite…

Rocks and Co used to be my favourite television programme but then they moved to Germany. It seems the UK customers don't matter anymore. We lost all our lovely English presenters and their friendly chat and Toby Cavill left the management team, it was all downhill after that, customer service is not friendly and I have even been ignored. I have spent many thousands with Rocks and Co but now my diamonds and other jewellery come from TJC.
