An RHS-award-winning variety, 'Bramley's Seedling' (often referred to simply as 'Bramley') is renowned as being the best cooking apple out there.
Sharp, acidic flesh breaks down into a wonderfully smooth puree. This makes it perfect for apple pies, crumbles and cakes. It can also be used for juicing or ciders.
This variety has a long harvest period, from early September through to the end of October. They're excellent keepers - store right through to late winter (store in a cool, dark place to keep longer).
Not self-fertile (group 3). Needs another apple tree near to pollinate it. You can either purchase another, compatible tree or rely on there being one somewhere nearby (not unusual in urban areas).

I’m a little disappointed with the bare rooted Bramley Apple tree I’ve purchased. I expected a central leader and side shoots but it has forked main stem and one side shoot. I don’t know how I’m going to prune it next year

Having bought my trees at the end of the bareroot season, they are understandably a little behind on leaves and blossom. They look like good quality plants and are currently sat in the shade of our home in Devon hopefully growing a good strong root system.

I paid extra to have plants established in pots. In fact the rootballs were poorly formed and much of the soil fell away on handling, as if it had been recently added.
