Where it all started. Rough Trade was founded by Geoff Travis in 1976 as a London record shop and began releasing as an independent label in 1978. In 1982, the retail outlet broke with the A&R and distribution divisions and became an independent entity, as it remains today. In 1982 Rough Trade West relocated from its original site on Kensington Park Road to nearby Talbot Road. Rough Trade Neal’s Yard opened in 1988 and closed its doors in 2007, ahead of the opening of a new flagship store, Rough Trade East, which opened in 2007 in Brick Lane. Rough Trade NYC opened in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in 2013 and relocated to Rockefeller Center, Manhattan in 2021. Rough Trade Nottingham opened in 2014. Rough Trade Bristol opened in 2017. We host live shows, sell records, merchandise, hardware, beer and coffee. Come say hello!

The lp was very well packaged and in great condition- when it finally arrived. It was a preorder for release on 3rd July but didn't arrive until 8th July, every other company I preorder from arrives on the actual release day or the very next day at the latest.

Delivery is slow…took a lot longer than if I’d ordered from another record store.
What happens when the disc arrives in bad condition
I have mail ordered several records over the years and all has been good until the latest delivery which included a vinyl disc in unplayable condition and I am now encountering the automated process for registering the problem and requesting a replacement, which I have to say is crap
Out of the blue I have heard a replacement is on its way to me so I guess I am placated
Ordering was simple
Ordering was simple, was kept informed
about the progress of the order, item was
well packaged and delivered on the
delivery date I was given.
Everything up to the very high standard we
always get from Rough Trade, what’s not
to love.

I pre-ordered this one and yet, a month after the release date, I still hadn't received word that it shipped. After a bit of back-n-forth with customer service, including me asking if I was supposed to be doing their job for them, they finally shipped it. And... it turned out to be a crummy pressing of the record. (That part's not Rough Trade's fault.) Oh well...
Stores great, online useless
I want to love Rough Trade but my recent experience has been so infuriating I felt compelled to write this.
Made an order online and the dispatch date has kept on being pushed back. Emails to their inbox you get the same AI generated response and the same for the help chat function.
The stores are great but online is really useless and unhelpful.

Disappointing
Ordered a signed record
Ordered a signed record. Received not signed. Thankfully they accepted my return request. If you run out of signed copies, list the item as unsigned-or at least show that it is limited signed copies, please. That way customer isn't expecting it to arrive signed as stated. Otherwise, thank you for working with me on a refund/return. Would buy from again if I'm not wanting a signed copy.
Great service
Great service, with an awesome selection of music, I really enjoy browsing here
Thanks again

Ordered an item on the 29th of July and on the website it said it would be dispatched within 1-3 days which was a complete and utter lie as it took them around a week and a half to ship my order which I still haven't received. I will admit I emailed their customer support and got a response back very quickly but come on id expect it to get shipped quite quickly after that but it still took a few days for it to be shipped

Always on point with my monthly fix of new music.
Disappointed
Firstly, superb packing with 2 stiffeners to stop movement and seam splits.Great pressing of Hunky Dory. Disappointed with Hendrix. It’s a DeAgostini Italian pressing, not the Grundman master (per catalogue number on website). Also Steely Dan is a US press that’s lifeless. Quite a delay from ordering and expected better pressings.
Rough Trade is one of the best online record retailers d!
Rough Trade is always one of my first online retailers to go to for vinyl. Love the selection, especially the exclusive editions and the amazing custom service. I’ve been ordering from them for years and I will continue to shop with them. Keep up the great work!
Rough Trade is great!
Good choice, easy to order, order delivered on time, like the special editions, I also enjoy Rough Trade gigs and signings are great, pricing could be more competitive

Ordered online and it did take almost 2 weeks to receive my order but other than that very happy.

Great records and selection at a good price. Kept me in the loop when there was a slight delay in delivery - really happy with my purchase.
Will continue to buy from RT for many years to come.
when my order came damaged in the post
when my order came damaged in the post, customer service immediately helped with replacing the order to my satisfaction:)
Customer service doesn't exist
I love this site, I love that they get fun variants, their customer service is non-existent that I can see. I ordered from the German site, one item didn't ship (out of stock, they held the order for a month first, not great). They then kept the additional cost of the shipping for that item, refunded to store credit, and the only response I have gotten which wasn't automated was from the UK version of the site to say I had gotten through to them, not the German version (I responded to an email they sent me). It has been nearly a month now since I started trying to get in touch. Total nightmare.
